What a fucking dance with the economy Trump is having - if the engine has stalled and he has added inflation to the equation through his taxes (tariffs), then we will see the most ugly formula unfold:
1. GDP rising because the cost of goods rose and consumers ate it anyways but lowered their savings and stretched their credit.
2. Stalled labor market.
3. Inflation rising.
4. Lowered demand with cascade effects on a global scale coupled with tariffs making businesses less profitable giving them one source of cost cutting - firing people.
What follows is an emergency lowering of the Fed interest rate but with the costs of business having increased due to tariffs and raw supply cost increases the cuts don’t cause a rebound and inflation continues.
And if the Fed can’t lower the rate because they fear the inflation then we get stagflation as no

I'm not so sure. Something that ties China, South Korea, Japan, and Europe together is poor birth rates. Trump's white MAGA America has the same disease. Biden was smart to try and offset that with immigration, but Trump foolishly threw that away when he closed the border and sent ICE after random-ass farmers to throw into concentration camps.

Trump can't have it both ways. He wanted to brag about the Job numbers, and at the same time the modest GDP growth. If either one was not right, he was to blame someone. The bottom line is the revised job numbers are probably the truer indicator and the US Economy is going to suffer second half of 2025.
What is ironic is that an Administration that thinks a half a percent point of interest rates not being given 3 months ago is enough to destroy a country, but adding hundreds of billions (over 1-2 year it become a Trillion) of costs to consumers in products could not possibly cause anything.
A half a percentage point on my loans and credit card is welcome, but not as much as not having to pay these outrageous prices I am being asked to at the grocery and hardware store. And he passed a spending bill that is blowing up the deficit while job numbers were low.
Stupid.

This is gonna sound like a schizopost but I'm pretty convinced this is by design. The oligarchs aren't stupid. They know climate change is real and there's a good chance of multiple bread basket failures across the global south within the next decade. Western democracies aren't equipped for 1bn+ people trying to migrate.
