He doesn’t have much fun stuff he can talk about right now. Walmart having to raise prices because of his tariffs just annoys everyone (and will obviously make them pissed with Trump), but it’s not like they can be shamed by Trump into accepting lower profits just to boost Trump’s ego.

And Powell is focused on the economy and can’t be fired for not obeying Trump. He has zero incentive to please Trump by screwing with interest rates. So no sassy social media posts would pressure him.

He’s put himself in a pretty weak position politically and it shows with how much of a downer his social media now is.

Part of the problem is some of the main people he's up against now have nothing to do with politics. He's decrying Powell who is insulated from politics (by design), SCOTUS, and the free market. Mostly because he or his staff figured they could achieve most of their goals through expanding executive powers rather than by expanding his power set through legislation. And the more unpopular he gets on various issues the less likely congress would want to get behind him getting more money for his projects or hand more power to him.

Who is saying it's illegal? Oh, the guys who write down the evidence report? How convenient.

Yeah, though that also had been semi-routine for years to stop people and give them a hard time if they could be interpreted as visiting the country to do any sort of work while they were just supposed to be tourists.

Where things have gotten a bit weirder is they're now wanting to detain people who they may previously just had book a flight back home. Which seems like they were wanting to make more of a show of detaining people even if they were from first world countries, without much care for how much negative attention this would call upon them and on tourism to the US in general.
