Can I a kiwi explain to me who the Proud Boys are? Is it just a bunch of gay men? I'd look it up but all I'm getting are articles about how white and supremacist they are and how they're the cause for all the violence and burning of buildings.

Ethan is a fairly typical middle class who has never had to actually work, and rides on the coat tails of other people far more successful. He became prominent purely because he appeared in Markiplier videos, and even then it wasn't until Unnus Annus his main channel got any serious activity.

I hate to say it, but as someone with pretty much only left friends, yes, they all think the looting and rioting is started by white supremacists, then continued on by the "protestors." Which is either a flat out denial of truth, or they are so cucked they just read the headlines on FB, reddit, IG and move on about their day. I really think this is cognitive dissonance to cope with their fear of Trump. Which they wouldn't have if they fucking used some damn primary sources.

The Proud Boys are an activist group started by Gavin McInnes, a weirdo who founded Vice Media and then shoved things up his arse on camera. They're mostly famous for fighting with antifa at events where antifa were trying to disrupt conservative speakers. I haven't heard anything about them recently until the debates, but they'll probably get some kind of revival in membership now.
