From my experience despite being woke, woke zoomers/late millennials are more invested in fiction and pop culture than real life politics. This is why despite Twitter being awash with young people stanning Bernie Sanders and decrying Boomers and Karens as problematic racists, Sanders just couldn't get the votes he needed in the primaries. The young people the progressive movement desperately counts on place more importance on FICTIONAL CHARACTER SAYS TRANS RIGHTS than anything political IRL. Sure, they talk about Republicans as evil bigots and how we need progressive policies, but there's a level of disconnect from it.The Millennials and the Early Zoomers are the most insufferably woke generations overall, and the Core Zoomers seem to be extremely polarized and split between "woke" and "based" as they are kind of caught in the middle of the culture war and unlike the Millennials and Early Zoomer SJW's, they don't really have the memories of the Bush Era or the last culture war involving the Religious Right, which more or less led to the rise of the Woke Left.
I think it's a kind of political apathy, just not in the traditional sense. Instead of memories of the Bush era or Religious Right, they grew up in Obama's presidency, where the media painted a rosy picture of the American government (and if they didn't, they could be dismissed as racist conspiracy theorists) and nobody focused on what the president and the government actually did. At the same time was the rise of a culture that made what pop culture/media you consume a massive part of your identity, along with the introduction of identity politics to fan culture. Look how quickly people in these generational groups went to lambasting Rowling while the BLM riots were still in full swing. Black Lives Matter...until some fandom related shit happens.
I don't know what this will mean for the future, but we do have lots of people who are heavily invested in the pop culture Culture War and not so much in actual politics, and this is true on both sides.
