Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

For what reason? I'm not saying farmers don't have to work to produce food, but between mechanized agriculture, petro-chemical fertilizers and the massive amount of knowledge we have about farming now, that food in the era we currently live in has gotten easier to grow/produce than it was in the past.
Compared to the past? Oh absolutely. Our ancestors - heck some of our grandfathers - would weep at how much yield we can get from man hours invested.

I take issue with "gotten pretty trivial to create food" in your statement. It still takes months just to do the actual crop part. Then you have just the production and maintenance and supply of the machinery that is used in all of this.

Even livestock still takes a fair amount of investment in time and equipment.

It would be like saying "it's gotten pretty trivial to travel nowadays" - sure if you completely ignore and set aside all that goes into making vehicles as well as extract and supply them with fuels and parts.

Oh, so that's what you meant. I was thinking of (and comparing modern farming to) pre-industrial era farming. I'm just saying that currently; we pay farmers to not maximize their output, IIRC. That's just not something that was done before modern agricultural methods, if anything a state back then would have considered doing the opposite.

fucking fucking fuck fuck face fucking fucking fuck
If you care so much about giving other people food, why don't you just donate to your local food pantry?
They're really trying hard to make this a thing.

Did these people even watch Colbert's show before it was cancelled?
I can't wait for the Harry Potter... oh wait! Imagine some Trump supporter making a Harry Potter version of these and them losing their minds over it.
Would Colbert be Harry or Voldemort?

Depends on the farmer. I've met plenty who still have to maximize every acreage. And some of those payments are more an outcome of government idiocy than food actually being trivial. But I do see what you mean.

When the biggest health issue among the poor is obesity and diabetes - the exact opposite of what it was for centuries - yeah you've got food distribution figured out there.

I mean that's a yes but also a no. Mostly empty calories, lots of fattening oils, food that's filled with preservatives and has a shelf life longer than you've been alive, massively overprocessed, and somehow all of this for far cheaper than just outright buying the thing said food is made out of, directly?

Did they really figure out food distribution or are we just using the bare minimum to consider food, "edible," as our benchmark?

Because obviously, ole' Stephen Colbert was so restrained, mature and reasonable in his criticism of Trump before, amirite you guiz!?!?!?!? : ^ )

I always kind of laugh at the phrase "empty calories." It would be like me talking about "empty electricity." It's still what your whole system is operating on.

Now have you ever read up on some of the historical recipes the poor used to have to make almost literal trash edible during starvation times? This isn't a defense of excessive processing as much as... yes, we have raised even the bare minimum of "edible" food, and a lot of that is shit like preservatives in order to solve different problems back in the day like food transportation. (Like if you want to eat Oranges in the middle of winter.)

When was the last time any of you did any canning? It's super simple and cheap to do (several older friends have done it with their grandparents) and doesn't use any preservatives. You could go buy some fresh stuff today and start canning tonight. Now if you do - great! Much respect for you. (Honest.) But a lot of people won't even know what I'm talking about or have even attempted it. There's a lot everybody can do to fix their food intake today, with minimum adjustment. But like the old joke about McDonald's: "We put salads on the menu and nobody bought them."

You ever go to a parent or grandparent's house? Maybe that weird aunt or uncle? A commercial comes onto their cable TV and they whine about how everything is gay now and you're like, "true, that's dumb," and you make the mistake of vocalizing that thought?

The wild conspiracy theories they start to spout will be what Qanon is/was. Weird, nearly baseless stuff, usually tinged with a smidgen of religion, and many mentions of people in power that you can't see, often times contradicting the previous theory they just finished talking about.
Don't ever mention the, "Hitler Youth," to a Qanon-fag. They have 10 different theories about where Hitler lived after we faked his death and somehow secretly sneaked him out of Germany with zero people seeing it.
So, I never really tuned into politics till 11th grade. obviously, Jan 6 was wild, but.. was qanon right about anything?

The quality issue with modern food is a problem, sure. But insufficient amounts of food or a lack of food at all is a significantly worse and more serious problem.

Oh good its this time again.

Let me introduce to a wonderful, natural pre-agricorp food: Hakarl

Hakarl is fermented Greenland Shark. Greenland shark, when fresh smells like the most stank piss you've ever smelled in your life, because the shark uses uric acid - that is, Piss - as metabolite and also a way to keep anything from predating on it because it basically exists in permanent sleep mode and any survival options that rely on evasion or speed have long since been evolved out of it. It stuffed with piss from nose to tail.
Anyway, Greenland shark is so full of piss it is lethal to eat fresh. You need to leech out that piss. How do you do that? Easy: let it rot for a couple months.

Now currently they have the process down, but people weren't always eating rotting pissshark smoked and prepared by experts in pissshark cooking.
So I want you picture the first guy to discover Hakarl. He is on the beach where a pissshark washed up 6-8 months before and has been just sitting there half buried in the sand all that time. He sees some seagulls poking at the bloated, putrifying hulk, chases them away and chows down.
Think of how hungry you'd have to be to get to that point where taking a chance that eating a reeking, rotting piss shark that might kill you is better than not filling your mouth with rotten fish + rank stale piss.
Just think about that level of hunger.

Now think on this: Harkarl is one of Iceland's national cuisines. People got so hungry they didn't just eat rotting pissshark, they got so hungry so often that they developed a taste for rotting pissshark.

So yeah, I would say we have food distribution nailed compared to the alternatives.

(Like if you want to eat Oranges in the middle of winter.)
My grandparents would talk about how when they were growing up, oranges in december were a special treat, and my grandmother in partiular told me about how the rich girl no one really liked was hated because she always had an orange with her lunch in winter to show off how rich she was.

My great-aunt could go on about UFOs for hours. Very entertaining to listen to. She really got into UFOs in the 60s and 70s, before the 80s when grifters flooded the scene with religious/NWO/Lazar/Bennewitz/Moore/Howe/etc. autism. Although that stuff was entertaining too of course

Bingo. We've got a solution to the quantity issue down. Next step is to work on the quality issue.

But if these solutions were easy, meatbags would have solved them centuries ago.

My grandparents would talk about how when they were growing up, oranges in december were a special treat, and my grandmother in partiular told me about how the rich girl no one really liked was hated because she always had an orange with her lunch in winter to show off how rich she was.
Exactly. You don't have to go back far to see how much of a luxury many food products were until very, very recently.

I've seen the pictures of my friend's visit to Russia in the 90s. There are few things that set him off more than socialists who act like they can just burn the delicate system down that keeps people fed and there will still be stocked shelves in the grocery. The only time commies ever fed anybody is when they are cannibalized.

They write essays on trump being bad, some of it true. Though really, it's just pure fagginess why it got reopened again.
