What's there to look for? Hiromoot has pretty much been public-facing in the Japanese Internet since time immemorial, to the point that he was apparently having a spat with some frenchfrogs for claiming some dumb stuff I can't recall (I think it was about his wine reviews I'm not entirely sure). He's pretty much a debatebro shitlord on Japanese television and does MATI-esque streams on youtube since 2020. I think the sharty tried to superchat him once to say something stupid on stream but he just ignored them. He works as a journalist for ABEMA now

Let’s put to rest the cult thing once and for all. Call it Dagoth’s Rule for Cult Identification:

This is review- Christianity was once a cult, and endured a lot of persecution by the Romans. Modern day, Jim Jones, Manson family, Branch Davidians, all cults the government put a stop to. More recently, the Zizian vegan trans cult (crazy story) was put to a stop and its cultists rightfully arrested after murdering law enforcement officers in three states.

Until the FBI can somehow wrangle 77 million Americans, I don’t know how MAGA can be a cult by Dagoth’s Rule for Cult Identification. Same with Democrats at 74 million. Neither are cults. The only reason that word is effective is because baby boomers are a large voter demographic who still flinch when you mention Charles Manson or Jim Jones’ cults.

Cult is also a short and simple word which makes it good for headlines and ragebait articles. The more accurate description that matches what the left, the press and media are going for is “slavish and off-putting loyalty to a fault”. However, as far as I know there aren’t any other words which describe that and are 1 syllable, besides “cult”.

(As an aside, any group of sufficient size can be considered a religion. If people really wanted to designate their foes as religious freaks, well they get protections and tax breaks and other benefits, even being able to circumvent certain laws. )

Please, just stop with the whole cult thing.
