The Super Best Friends Super Best Griefing Thread - Matt's a cuck, Liam is a bitch, Pat's a loony and Woolie's Way is now trademarked

Being conservative doesn't mean you are a fucking nazi the same way being a democrat doesn't mean you support communism.
It is extra stupid cause Matt is still a young guy. You expected someone like him to be more open mind, but I guess we live in a world where that ideal can't exist no more.

We see people in their early late 20s, early 30s acting like 90 year old fanatics, sour bitches mad at people over political shit.
I'm sure it's not helpful to also be trying to build a career in an industry (or at least adjacent to an industry) that actively encourages this toxic mindset.

This whole thing is a real downer. I hope nothing happens to the Yo Videogames crew now.

Your avatar and username always reminded me of their DP playthrough.

It is often argued that Pat and Matt weren't really that close to each other. The link connecting the two was Woolie. They just became the face of the channel and due to that, they were "forced" to tolerate each other and create content.
There was always friction between Matt and Pat, just watch some of their old stuff with a bit more attention and you can notice it. I think the most blunt example of this is their Portal 2 video, Matt takes his time with the game and Pat goes way off the rails to insult Matt.
This was like 7 years ago, check the 3:00 and 6:20 mark, I think that's when the thing got really obvious.
Most people seem to forget they were part of Machinima, meaning that their LPs were mostly a job rather than for fun, so of course they would feel obligated to do videos even if they weren't on best terms. In the same video I linked earlier, Matt even says it, he just tries to make the video entertaining rather than actually playing it for fun.

As time went on you could see the difference of personalities, Matt wanting the videos to be as entertaining as possible and not minding for fuck ups game wise while Pat wanted to be done with it as fast and perfect as possible, while amusing it made for lots of friction. Woolie was the third man they needed to keep both under control, enough to be entertaining but also to keep the game moving forward.

Matt marriage also helped to cement the differences, not THAT bad but when your best friend is now your wife, well, you know. It was expected that this would happen, Liam was the premonition of working on something you loved for the sake of profit instead of fun, in other words it wouldn't hold for much longer.

I'm pretty sure Matt and Pat will eventually patch things up but not in public nor will they get back to playing together as they did, but more like casual playing for the sake of fun. Woolie is in the awkward position between both of them but I don't see him suffering that much since he still can hang out with both of them, just not at the same time.

Anyway, I don't think the political affiliation of both had much to do with this, I think it's just a case of getting sick of having to deal with the same people for so many years forcefully instead of because you wanted to do it, basically job fatigue.

Wait, is Matt really not having anything to do with Pat AND Woolie now?
We'll never know for sure unless one of them comes out and says it because trying to piece together people's personal relationships just from their appearances on camera will always be futile, but this may or may not be a piece of the puzzle:

Damn, I was just reading a thread on /v/ and it got pruned. Thankfully, an archive site is helping

Some twitter drama in the images, saved them (or what I could, fireden isn't being cooperative at the moment) in case the images don't load

EDIT: got the one I was missing, that should be everything needed from that thread
There it is, somebody got called a Nazi. Alerts are ringing at Kotaku HQ, begin countdown to the 'expose' article about problematic gamers.

Lo-fucking-l, I had their names mixed up. Here I was thinking "Really? The hi-pitched screechy guy wasn't the one to go lefty?". Makes a lot more sense now.
It was always fun to me that there were still people who got their names mixed up.

While I don't think political differences impacted the breakup that much (at least I hope not), I do remember muting Matt on Twitter due to some annoying, overbearing political posts/retweets, so it does seem possible, but I'm wagering it just has to do with Matt doing more stuff outside of the channel (esp. The Takeover) than inside.

Tbh I don't think Matt has what it takes to be a solo critic. Watch one of his "Wha Happun" videos and it is clear he comes up short to someone like Joseph Anderson or Matthewmatosis.

Matt is just not that eloquent of a personal speaker to pull off that style of video, his speaking is just too slow and sluggish. I also don't think Matt has the sharp analytical skills required for the format.

Pat and Woolie could pull off working together, they have the chemistry.

Jesus. I knew that over the course of the podcast as of late, Matt became a bit more subdued in their clips, but it's sad how little he spoke in this, and seemed like he almost wanted to walk off.

The subject matter doesn't help either. Pat's talking about how they still have to compete with each other in terms of viewers somewhat, and it's a little awkward to do so.
Matt's solo channel hasn't exactly taken off in a big way; it specializes in long retrospectives that take around a month to produce, while only raking in 50-100K views each, with barely 100K subscribers. A good chunk of his revenue stream is going to be cut now, with no new SBF content being produced, in which he had a 60% cut, and no new sponsorship money from new podcasts. If he does start to try podcasting on his own, he has to start fresh, since Pat and Woolie claimed the feeds for the Friendcast about an hour before the announcement video went up. He's taking a shot at producing games, but if he doesn't get his foot into the industry, he's going to have to compete with his former coworkers in some capacity regarding streaming, and that can't feel good.

Something that I'm afraid of is this possibly ending up like The Biggest Problem in the Universe, but how they handled the break-up video, and that it's not over an ex gives me hope.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chewie and Fuckface in the Morning!

Agree with the people saying a shame but a long time coming. Matt certainly wanted out at the same time Liam left but Liam pulled the trigger first and the best friends could not operate as a two man gang as shown by this breakup so it seemed like he wanted to keep the buisness running.

I will add that Liam and Matt almost certainly caused this. Liam was always a contraian dick, more so than Pat. The exact thing that put me off was the moment in one podcast where they go over the recasting of Snake's voice actor and Pat made the point that voicing something doesn't give automatic ownership of that character's voice and Liam went ballistic with Matt backing him up I think. And with Liam's lies by omission as pointed out, it was very clear it was never really about his health but more so something else and I think it's jealousy of the popularity of the other members, mixed with him getting mad at Pat because Liam is a dick and Pat shitposts.

And I don't think its anything political though. Matt is a senstive baby like a hard left may be and Pat may awfully rough around the edges like a person on the right but I think the real truth of the matter is Matt was never the favourite. It was always Pat and Woolie. There's a reason people are putting money on them two doing fine but not Matt. And I think it got to him as you can see in some of the earlier stuff they did, Matt got upset that he had no persona, no character. Essentially, the meme lore/universe was about everyone but him
