It’s worth mentioning that lootboxes do exist in Roblox as well. Pet Simulator is an obvious example but you could probably find more slop games with them. Unsurprisingly, Roblox is doing jack shit about it as far as I know.

As somebody who actually played Roblox a decade and a half ago, I decided to boot it up and see exactly what has changed in the years since I left.
The first thing I noticed was that the free currency that used to be given to every player was just gone, with only the premium currency remaining.
The second thing I noticed was that every single game was intensely monetized in a way that would make an EA Executive blush.
Back in the not-dogshit era, the most you could really do was have like, a shirt you could wear that granted VIP status that let you unlock stuff, and you'd have to go through the rigmarole of changing your outfit.
Now the microtransactions are outright baked into the games, extra in-game currency? Pay real life money! Extra damage? Real life money! Special weaponry? Real life money! Buy more gamble machine tickets for real life money!
It's easily some of the most predatory stuff I have ever fucking seen, and I hope that Roblox gets fucking buried under waves upon waves of lawsuits.

I played some random front page games just to see what its like, and every game I played had some monetisation, even including game passes or battle passes.

I remember playing shitty left 4 dead clones and using cheat engine for tycoon games. Now its filled with monetisation, sexual clothing, and the most obvious grooming I have ever seen. Roblox is one of the biggest platforms on the internet. Moderating all the content would be extremely difficult. Any online sim like this is going to be full of that stuff. I once ran a moderately popular public Minecraft server and you would not believe the number of children that showed up that would literally beg for gambling to be added. It was sobering seeing what percentage of kids were just totally mentally fried and if they had no outlet to burn real money or at least in-game money, they'd just bitch and moan until they moved on to somewhere else that would let them get their fix. When you see a 8 yr old pleading like bossmanjack that he just needs a coin flip, you know there's a fucking problem. Most of the ones who's brains had rotted away real bad like this apparently played both roblox and minecraft, the minecraft only ones weren't AS fucked up, still not great though.
