Episode 9 - This episode was weaker, if only because of the plot with Darulio being resolved with his people having sexy touch powers. ... Also it absolves Kelly of her cheating, that is bullshit.
I don't want to sound like an SJW, but Darulio basically raped her. He was going to rape Mercer too, apparently. This was all played for laughs and they should have been outraged at Darulio for not telling them about his pheromones or whatever.

The sad thing about the Flintstones is that there's a remake in production by Elizabeth Banks for some reason.

I can't wait to see how she out-wokes putting a fat piece of shit like Rosie O'Donnell in the role of the shapely, attractive Betty.

It was dumb on many levels, I dunno why that was a thing.

I thought it was pretty obvious. The specter of Kelly's infidelity had been hanging over her relationship with Mercer since the pilot, and to some degree (given her extremely apologetic attitude about it) it never made sense. The writers had to find a way to explain and nullify it... and by making the guy she slept with so irresistible that MERCER (who is straight) can't resist sleeping with him too, they remove the weight of that sin from Kelly's shoulders.

The episode raised some interesting questions (just like any other episode of the show tbh), can it be considered as rape if the pheromone is a result of his species, something that none of them have control over it?

Okay so, Thread Necro time. I finally got around to starting season 2.

Season 2 Episode 1 Thoughts

They have an episode about Bortus peeing, It was largely about the Relationship drama between Mercer and Gracer, This is one of those plots I wish they would either resolve and be done with or stop bringing up every couple of episodes. It was an okay start to the Second season, the focus on the relationship stuff wasn't enough to drive me away from the series.

Season 2 Episode 2 Thoughts

A Bortus focused episode! Bortus...got the ship infected with a computer virus with his porn. Kelly going "Wow" to the "cove of pleasure" was amazing. This episode might be my favorite of the series. It is a classic Star Trek problem intertwined with the "We aren't the best of the best." characters.

Bortus and Issac discussing sex was hilarious.

A tardigrade-like alien gave the ship a STD.

Just so you know the bortus porn episode is from season one, it wasnt aired because the network worried it went to far with the whole porn thing. After season one was a success they put it in season two

God damn it Fox.

Edit : Watched a few more episodes.

Season 2 Episode 3

Alara leaves the show, that is a shame I very much enjoyed the "Fun Uncle and Niece" aspect she had with Captain Mercer.

The episode was good though, The reasoning behind her leaving made sense, and it wasn't just waved away once she got down home. Dr. Finn got to work on attempting to solve the problem. We also saw Alara's home life (THE EMH IS HER DAD!!) and she made up with her family.

It was a great episode, I hope the replacement Alara is as cool as she was, but in a different way and not just a complete clone. Hopefully Keylai gets a focus episode before the end of the season.

Season 2 Episode 4

Oh hey the Krill Teacher is back, and she joined the Military and tried to get revenge on Mercer.

The Krill apparently piss off more groups than just The Union, Mercer and Telaya get stranded on a planet and have to trust each other..and have Chemistry. That is..interesting. I hope the Krill plot goes somewhere interesting.

Season 2 Episode 5

I wish the First contact stuff were more the focus instead of the "Dur her Astrology am I right?"

The way that everyone cheered when Mercer announced they were doing first contact meant that how The Orville does things is way different than Star Trek and I would have loved to see that explored more.

Season 2 Episode 6

Issac and Dr. Finn start dating..everything involving this was great. Issac dealing with the concept of dating and interacting with the Crew.

It was an absolutely fascinating to see an emotionless robot being played completely straight. His reactions to everything and taking everything literally was fun (lets flip the table lul).

Also BORTUS WITH A MUSTACHE, I repeat we have Bortus with facial Hair.

Edit :

Holy crap I got to the episode with Them Going to Issac's Homeworld.

HOLY FUCK it was amazing.

I liked that episode. Norm got to play Yaphit in human form and the guy who played the conductor during that symphony is the actual conductor who works on The Orville.
I know some people are sick of the Moclan plots in the second season but I like them, it's always fascinating because you can feel how much fun the actors are having.

I can understand that because of how annoyed I get at the Religion stuff he throws in, but Bortus is so good it is hard to not love an episode where he gets screen time.

I've also heard people say there's something in Black Mirror like it too. I don't know anything about that show, but yeah, modern times are ripe for great sci-fi stories.
Yeah it’s the Nosedive episode of Black Mirror (written by Rashida Jones and Michael Schur of The Office/Parks & Rec fame) Black Mirror can be hit or miss because it’s an anthology series with the common theme being the dark consequences of technology on human behaviour. Nosedive is one of my favourite episodes because it’s lighter in tone, and it’s a fun but poignant commentary on the ways we humiliate and imprison ourselves for the sake of social credit.

Really looking forward to seeing what season 3 of The Orville has in store! We went into it expecting Family Guy in space, but instead found a legit love letter to Star Trek TNG. The first couple of episodes were nothing to write home about, but pretty much everything else since has scratched that nostalgic TNG itch for me.

Are the stories or concepts especially original? No, Seth clearly borrowed and took inspiration from ideas that already existed in the Star Trek universe, but he does create a very loving homage to those ideas which is more than I can say about Alex Kurtzman and all his shitty reboots/STD.

I only get frustrated with Moclan episodes because they usually involve Klyden being a punching bag for the show's sanctimonious writers.

Klyden did nothing wrong.
I don't think you count as a punching bag if nothing ever happens to you for any of the shit you pull. If Klyden were a punching bag..he sure as hell would have had more consequences for the whole attempted murder thing.

Moclans are god damn Autistic, every single one of them. Bortus is just Autistic enough to be funny as hell though.
