I don't think there's a pharmaceutical for CTE brain holes, brother.
Police called to Geno Smith's home over alleged assault

“Today is the day! Geno Smith beat my a** cause he hates taking care of his special needs kid and can’t be left alone with him because he’d rather watch s*x online and play Call of Duty,”

What is worse? Going back to the Jets or having a drama stirring baby momma and a slow kid?

The NFL management council sent this to Sorsby

Dear Mr. Sorsby:

We are in receipt of your Petition for Special Eligibility, dated June 16, 2026 ('Petition'). As announced earlier today, the League has elected not to conduct a Supplemental Draft this year.

Under our Collective Bargaining Agreement, the League retains sole discretion to determine whether it is appropriate to conduct a Supplemental Draft in any given year. The League has not conducted such a draft for several years and, prior to your submission, the League had no plans to do so this year, as no other player has sought entry. Your Petition—filed three business days before the deadline, without any supporting information or documentation, and only after abandoning your recent litigation efforts to avoid NCAA sanctions—does not provide a basis for the League to alter those plans. The issues presented by your Petition are too significant, and too closely tied to the League's core integrity interests, to permit meaningful review within the timeline presented.

The sole reasons identified in your Petition for seeking entry into the Supplemental Draft are that you have been 'declared ineligible' by the NCAA, have 'exhausted all of [your] avenues to continue in the NCAA,' and 'want to now play in the NFL.' The Petition provides no information regarding the basis for, or timing of, the NCAA's decision. Public sources, however, indicate that in May 2026 the NCAA issued a determination declaring you permanently ineligible from participation in college athletics, based on a sustained pattern of improper gambling activity during your collegiate career at three different universities.

The League does not have the complete record of the NCAA's investigation, and you did not provide any such materials with your Petition. Available information nonetheless indicates that, over the course of your collegiate career, you knowingly engaged in repeated and significant violations of NCAA rules designed to preserve the integrity of athletic competition. Reported conduct includes placing wagers on your own team and teammates and, to avoid detection, establishing or funding accounts in the names of intermediaries who placed bets on your behalf. There are also reports that you may have violated state criminal law.

Your Petition does not address these matters. Nor does it demonstrate accountability for your conduct or indicate whether, or how, you would adhere to the League's rules and policies governing the integrity of competition. Instead, even after receiving notice of the NCAA's decision rescinding your college eligibility in May, you sought to avoid the consequences of that determination through litigation rather than accepting responsibility for your actions, and you pursued entry into the NFL only after abandoning those efforts.

As Commissioner Goodell has emphasized, participation in the NFL is a privilege that carries with it significant responsibilities, including accountability. By all accounts, you are a talented player with the potential for future success. We encourage you to focus on preparing for possible entry into the NFL through the 2027 NFL Annual Draft.

Sincerely,
Lawrence P. Ferazani, Jr.

Safe to say, Sorsby and his people want to go after the nflpa for this bullshit.

What would he be going after the PA for?

Jeffrey Kessler, a lawyer for Sorsby, told Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger that the NFL's decision "is a violation of the collective bargaining agreement and we intend to pursue the player's rights with the NFLPA."

I have no idea what the fuck the violation is but what did he expect to happen?

His rejection letter was pretty good, imo. "You filed this last minute after fighting court decisions banning your NCAA participation fell through, you take no accountability or give us any reason to think you won't do this if you're drafted, being in the NFL is a privilege we don't see worth extending to you".

I'm guessing now all the hubbub and media assumptions that the supplemental draft was guaranteed, so let's gossip about where he goes, was pressure from his agent/lawyer to get the NFL to fold and make an exception rather than sticking to their guns on this. I did say in response to his initial declaration that the league is the entity taking on a lot of risk letting him into the NFL, not any particular team. Giving your significant other a black eye/doing crimes? Yeah you're a shitty person but you can still play football. Betting on your own team's games? You're putting the integrity of our games at risk.

I'd think he'd have to be a member of the NFLPA for them to have any reason to advocate for him, but I'm not lawyer. I'm especially not one milking billable hours out of some dumb college kid who fucked himself out of a career and millions of dollars.

I understand why some people want to defend Sorsby given the perceived hypocrisy surrounding all the gambling ads and sponsorships right now, but he really did bring this all on himself. He is clearly an addict who cannot control himself. The last place he needs to right now is on a football field.

Well he went to rehab (supposedly), not sure what else he's supposed to do. Become an outspoken advocate about how a sports betting addiction ruins lives? Yeah sure the NFL (brought to you by DraftKings) would love that shit.

I think I was pretty much right that the NFL is just gonna be like "lose my number" and hope he goes away because there's no good outcome for them here.

I take from the way the league's response was written he (let's be honest, his lawyer) didn't bother with any of the addiction recovery-related mea culpas or provide any material to suggest he wouldn't do it again, he just sent a letter saying "I declare for the supplemental draft!" like he's Michael Scott.

That's all he's got to do, though. There is no moral factor in whether a player is eligible for the supplemental draft. They have also let multiple players apply for the draft with gambling suspensions in college over the last couple of years. The NFL is turning him down while attaching conditions to eligibility that don't appear anywhere in the CBA section that covers eligibility for the supplemental draft.

Florio made a point about this on PFT - thing is, if he gets in from the supplemental draft, he will take the spot of a current dues paying NFLPA member. So what do you do? Fight the NFL to lose a current NFLPA member or say fuck that kid, it’s his problem?

I think this guy explained it a bit better than I could. The kid is still insane for thinking he was gonna be greeted with arms wide open. This kid needs to start praying for some desperate team drafts him next year. Personally, I see him being the next QB for the Columbus Aviators next year in the UFL.
