As for the actual finals, the Knicks will have either a budding dynasty in the Thunder, or the newest hotness in Victor Wembenyama. IOW, either SGA or Wembenyama will cement themselves as the league’s newest poster boy unless the league still wants to promote a 41 year old LeBron James.
There's some timeline where Lakers do a 2yr sign and trade with Bron to the Cavs in exchange for Mobley with the understanding that they'll just waive Bron after a year as a kind of retirement tour.

If this happens expect sports media to become very insufferable

If it was gonna be Shai, it already would have been. MVP, scoring champion, FMVP, pretty young guy, shooting guard, stylistically similar to Kobe... He's theoretically everything you'd want, except the fans don't rock with him and nobody likes OKC. A 2nd FMVP doesn't change that.

I think Wemby has the personality to be the new face of the NBA. The only issue is NBA media is bizarrely xenophobic and I don't know if they will accept a Frenchman as their guy. Also I still think he is a ticking time-bomb injury-wise.
I think theyre more likely to accept someone like Wemby (a black man), over Jokic or Doncic. The main thing is him remaining healthy. If he wins a championship this year then all he has to do is play at least 65 games for the next few years and He'll be in prime position to be the face of the League, especially if Lebum retires within that time.

Yeah, I agree, and also their other options are pretty bad.

Jokic doesn't give a shit about the media. Luka they've already tried. Shai's a black hole of charisma. Ant's inevitably gonna show up in a news post with the word allegations in it. Brunson looks weird. KAT looks weird and is weird. Mitchell isn't really good enough.

I think it's between Wemby and then Flagg if Dallas manages to do anything.

KAT looks weird and is weird
KAT is so deep in the closet he's halfway to Narnia. It seems like the NBA shunted him off to the side after all the "zesty" jokes started popping off on social media last year. Can't help but feel a bit bad for him, the NBA will paint a rainbow on the court but they'll be goddamned before they'll let a faggot be the face of the league.

Brunson and Jokic's issue is more that they're ugly than anything else.

As a sometime casual fan, my first thought is that both the season and the playoffs are just too long. The NHL is bad this way, but the NBA manages somehow to be even worse. And it isn't like a long season makes the ticket prices any cheaper, as you could probably argue with MLB.

And don't get me started on faggotry like that Sixer player who falls over every time somebody touches him. Soccer tier homosexuality there. The funny part is he's like 7 feet tall and well over 300 pounds, and still does it when it is a 6'2" guard weighing 190 making contact.

Wemby being French won't be an issue, and the reason is because ESPN absolutely WORSHIPS the kid. That means the NBA will be compelled to get on board since ESPN basically calls the shots on who gets the rub or not. The good news for both is that Wemby clearly wants to be the face of the league, and he'll get it as long as he stays healthy.

That's a big if, but there aren't any other real options that have Wemby's "it" factor. Jokic couldn't care less for accolades, Shai now has the rep of a being a serial flopper, LeBron is old, and Giannis's window is closed.

The closest in terms of skill that would be a rival for Wemby as face of the league is Ant, but for all his shit-talking, he doesn't have Kobe's leadership ability or killer instincts that would take him to that level. Wemby's been putting on a clinic during this series that shows he's ready to make that jump, as long as the Spurs win the title.

Go Spurs. Funnily enough this was the first game I have watched live these playoffs, all the others I watched on replay. Fuck me, NBA games are way too long. 48 minutes turns into like 2 and a half hours with all the dead balls, timeouts, and general fluffing around. No wonder it is now considered a "highlights-based sport".

Interesting decision from OKC to not play a full five man lineup. I could have sworn one of their players wore #7. I guess you win some gambles, you lose some gambles.

Honestly a great Shai game despite the loss, he wasn't even really getting those calls and still proved he could get good points and assists on tough shooting. It's frustrating because this is the exact sort of thing people want to see out of him and that he's capable of doing that he's just not incentivized to do if he's going to be rewarded for the flopping shit. Winning without other ball handlers is hard.

Spurs are here to stay, their roster's young as hell. Dylan Harper is a legitimate contributor as a rookie. I think Spurs-Knicks will be a real series and it'll be interesting to see how both teams game plan against one another.

I want the Knicks to win just because it has been so long, and I have no doubt the Spurs will get multiple shots at it. For the Knicks I feel like it is now or never, for some reason.
