Wait what the shit, you mean this is a prequel movie? What the fuck?
The origins of Mufasa or some shit.

I honestly thought Disney still had some more IPs to remake and ruin before resorting to making sequels for their live action abominations. This one is a trainwreck on its way and apparently Aladdin 2 is going to be a thing.

What's next? Mulan 2: The Search for a Husband?

Don't worry, they are still going to adapt more. None of them are going to be as profitable as Lion King though, so they got to milk every cent out of the cash cow.

If James Earl Jones was to old to properly voice Mufasa last time then how could he be the lead voice actor this time?

Check the thread, some other dude is going to take up the role

(Right) Aaron Pierre (Underground Railroad) will play Mufasa
I hope he at least sounds something like James Earl Jones, his face kinda reminds me of Lil Nas, which is a bad sign

And now Disney's greater challenge yet. Outdo the shitiness of their animated sequels with the live action sequels.

You can do it Disney, I believe in you!

The most egregious thing about these live action remakes is that they have opportunities to at least adapt these stories differently, they'll make money just based on the brand recognition. They could've adapted the broadway musical instead, complete with making them all fucking anthro furries. Even if it was as uncanny looking as the Cats movie it'd at least be more interesting to look at than the stiff boring animals they animated in a shot for shot remake of the original film. But look these characters are so R E A L I S T I C even though they don't emote for shit

I imagine they won't adapt the actual Lion King 2 even though the literal direct to video movie is gonna be way more interesting than whatever dull trite they shit out

(Left) Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Waves, Trial of the Chicago 7) will play Taka
What are the chances that he can't do the voice right?
Looking back at these, it's amazing how inferior both the voice acting and writing is in the new one compared to the old Lion King. Every single change in the new one was for the worse. Also I hope we get more John Oliver as Zazu he was awfull in the new one and I hope we see more of this awful performance continues.

Zazu got so fucked in the remake. What expressions can a realistic bird have? Motherfucker's face is 80% beak and that don't move.

You could lipsynch Hitler's speech over Zazu's mouth movements and it would 100% look like he was a nazi bird.

I want to see a video of just that.

Seriously, why did they get John Oliver to be Zazu? They could have easily have gotten Rowan Atkinson back as Zazu. I've seen some recent interviews of Atkinson and he still sounds like Zazu.

I didn't watch The Lion Guard, but I can guarantee you that their version of Scar's backstory, even if you don't consider it canon, will be better than whatever Disney will try to do for the "live action" movie.

Summary taken straight from the wiki:
"In The Lion Guard, Scar was born under the name "Askari" after his ancestor, the original Askari, and was at one point selected as leader of the Lion Guard, a team of lions who would protect the Pride Lands and the Circle of Life, as part of a tradition to all second-born children of the king. With this responsibility, Askari was given a power called the "Roar of the Elders". One day, Askari encountered a strange lion, who suggested that Askari should be the king of the Pride Lands. However, the strange lion led him to a trap where a cobra bit his left eye and left him his famous scar.

The strange lion offered to cure the cobra's venom in return for Askari's servitude afterwards, but Askari killed them both with the Roar in a fit of rage instead. After reporting the encounter to his brother, Mufasa, he was belittled and received the nickname "Scar" from his older brother and which would eventually become his only name. After that, Scar began to grow jealous and loathsome of Mufasa (as the cobra venom in his body began to corrupt him by bringing out his darker thoughts and tendencies) and came to believe that he should be king of the Pride Lands instead of Mufasa. When the Lion Guard refused to help Scar usurp his brother, Scar infuriatingly used the Roar of the Elders to eliminate them. Due to using the Roar of the Elders for evil, the Great Lions of the Past took the Roar away and Scar lost the power completely and descended into depression, becoming shriveled and weak."

The venom apparently only removes moral restraints and Scar still had control over his actions. He wanted to overthrow his brother because Mufasa gave him a mean nickname.

The fact that Lion Guard was on Disney Journey and yet had a better backstory for Scar. Compare to whatever the crappy live action movie will do should say something
