Whereas the still shots were almost-but-not-quite, Franco as Wiseau photographs a lot better on screen than expected.

The voice is a little off, but that's really my only complaint so far. I'm loving what I'm seeing and December can't come soon enough. Fingers crossed that this becomes a hit so we can get movies about the makings of Birdemic and Fateful Findings.

Rating: :story:/10

Ah, didn't realize we had a separate thread for the movie.

Really hyped to see this. I keep meaning to get the audiobook, I hear Greg's Wiseau impression is spot-on.

I am so hyped for this it hurts.

And funnily enough, my dad (who rarely gets hyped for anything) and I have agreed we're buying our tickets in advance. I started reading the book with him back in February and I'm pretty sure it's one of his favorite books of the last five years.

alrighty, gotta make sure i buy two tickets in advance for me and my dad, and then i'm going to wear my incredibly-faded OFISHUL The Room t-shirt that was most certainly not created with the cheapest, shittiest screenprinter available.

but it's the lack of quality that makes it so genuine.

Wondered what the status on this film was. As a person who doesn't watch much movies, this is one I can't wait to see when it hits theaters. It would be interesting to see how they might adapt Wiseau's apartment or the conversation between Tommy and Greg's mother in regards to "no sex".

Oh shit, I didn't know A24 was behind this. That gives me pretty high hopes that this'll be good. I'm curious to see how they'll handle the two stories.
James doesn't quite nail the Wiseau accent, but I can't really fault him on that. Wiseau's accent is a bizarre amalgamation of Polish and French that is uniquely his. Greg Sestero (aka guy who played Mark) is the only person who can do a really good Wiseau impression, and that's only because he's spent so many years with the guy (and he already had a good French accent before meeting Wiseau).

I can't recommend the book enough. It's a wild ride and makes the movie even more enjoyable to watch.

I didn't expect to see Seth Rogen in this, I thought it was more of a James Franco personal project, so it might throw me off that Seth Rogen is just Seth Rogen, especially if he just acts like himself, but even if James doesn't nail a Tommy impersonation the amount of stuff I've overheard about the disaster artist makes me really excited to see this movie when it comes out.

The greatest thing about this is its basically Apatow's people, and Apatow was always A+ quality filmmaking in my book.

James Franco, of course, is exaggerating Tommy's accent too much though. I wish parodies would stop doing that.
