Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

That dog is absolutely hideous, even by pit bull standards. Good lord.
If pits never grew past the size and risk level of their puppies I could sort of understand the appeal, even when they're ugly they're still pretty cute just because they're puppies:

They can be freakishly aggressive and destructive compared to other puppy breeds:

--but at least you could stop any possible attack without too much effort. Unfortunately they don't stay little forever, they just get bigger, uglier and way more dangerous. With all the amazing kinds of dogs in the world (including normal, non-pit-tainted mutts), I will never for the life of me understand how anyone chooses these beasts. I mean I know why, but it will never make sense to me. Those who love pits in general are all retards and/or sociopaths with shit taste.

Trying to think if I know any pit bull owners who aren’t total trash losers and I can’t.
Between my line of work and shelters pushing them, it seems like most of my coworkers with dogs have at least one pit mix. Most of them aren't bad people, just horribly misguided. They want to believe in the best for dogs, too. I expect somebody will get bitten or worse eventually though.

All the pits and pit mixes I've known (a couple dozen) have been extremely friendly cuddle addicts and were well-raised and trained but even then some of them would show that instinctive pit reaction to surprising sounds or movement where they go Cujo for a split second before they stopped themselves or were stopped by a command from their owner(s). If any of them had been less well-trained or had a slightly different temperament...

95-pound women owning huge aggressive breeds is fucking retarded. I almost got bit once walking home by a husky mix this dumb bitch grandma was strolling down the sidewalk with. Soon as it sees me it flips out and starts coming at me. She was totally unable to control it. She's pulling on the leash as hard as she can screeching 'commands' and the dog is dragging her towards me like she was nothing to it (she was obviously lol). Snapped at me and missed taking a huge chunk out of my forearm by about an inch and a half. Then I kicked it hard as I could and it decided nah never mind and this bitch had the gall to get mad at me. Fuck you grandma get a toy poodle.

I know one couple who aren't losers who own a pibble. The dog is smaller by pibble standards for an adult so it might be a mutt of sorts, and I worry about them even though the dog has no history of aggression and acts like a sweetheart by all its history and experience I have had with it.

You just never know with those dogs.

A toy poodle is another problem breed. I sometimes wish a similar scenario would happen to me so that i could defend myself in a self defense situation against an aggressive pitbull

A large toy poodle weighs about 6 pounds

Kicking a pit bull in the ribs probably wouldnt stop it and I was very lucky kicking this husky mix in the ribs did

If you have any love or loyalty for these people you will remove the viper from their midst.
They've had that conversation with every single member of both their extended families and their friends. They aren't unaware but took the risk because of the sweetheart behavior with them and everyone that interacts with it.

They live in an environment where having a dog that can do damage makes some sense though, very isolated and surrounded by stealthy predators, so if it functions as an anti-cougar missile once it will have served its purpose, and we just hope it lives long enough to do this or die naturally without committing a blue on blue incident.

Boy, 3, is killed and his mother is seriously injured after being mauled by neighbor's two pit bulls at their new home in New Jersey

  • Three-year-old boy was playing in his backyard in Carteret, New Jersey, on Tuesday when neighbor's two pit bulls got in and attacked him
  • Child's mother tried to save him and was also badly mauled
  • Victims' injuries were so severe they had to be airlifted to a hospital, where the toddler later died
  • Police officers who responded to the scene shot both dogs

A three-year-old boy from New Jerseyhas died and his mother has been hospitalized with serious injuries after their neighbor's two pit bulls got into the family's yard and mauled them.

Middlesex County officials say the attack took place at around 4.30pm on Tuesday at the family's home on East Laurel Street in Carteret.

Neighbors say the young boy was playing in the backyard when the two dogs living next door somehow got underneath the fence separating the two properties and lunged at him.

Jeet Devinder told ABC 7 NY he could hear the mother's desperate cries 'Help me! Help me!' but no one came to call off the dogs. The family had only moved to Carteret from Brooklyn a month ago.

First responders who arrived on the scene found the victims with injuries so severe that they had to be airlifted to a hospital.

Aerial footage from NBC4 showed paramedics performing chest compressions on the child as he was being taken on a gurney to an awaiting Medivac helicopter. The toddler died a few hours later.

The mother remained hospitalized on Wednesday with severe injuries. Her condition was not immediately known.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims, but a long-time co-worker of the deceased boy's father said the parents have three young sons.

'They are from Pakistan originally and he's a great family guy. He has three little boys,' Jack Beyda told Patch. 'He's very, very hardworking. He worked very hard to provide for his family and he saved up enough money to move out here from Brooklyn; he saved up enough to buy this little house.'

Both dogs were reportedly shot by police officers at the scene of the attack. It is unclear whether their owner would face any criminal charges.

A neighbor who was familiar with the dogs said they never showed any signs of aggression prior to Tuesday.

Cartert Mayor Dan Reiman released a statement addressing the deadly dog attack.

'Our prayers are with the family affected by a dog attack at a private residence on Laurel St,' he wrote. 'Thank you to the first responders who rushed in to attend to the victims, who are being transported by helicopter for emergency medical care. That’s all the information we have at this time.'

Reiman said that according to municipal records from the Carteret Board of Health, the dogs were not registered with the town, as is required by law.

Just heard about that on the radio driving home. I'm sure the "Pit Mommies" will feel bad for the dog as usual.

Apologies for double posting but I found these gems in the NJ subreddit. I knew mental retardation wouldn't let me down:

Frankly if you decide to have a murderdog, you should be criminally and civilly liable for anything they do. The murderdog murders someone? You should get charged with murder as if you'd done it yourself.

I know a couple misguided people who adopt rescue pit bulls and try to rehabilitate them. I'm pretty sure they'll eventually get killed by them.
There are 3 basic type of pit bull owners.

1. People that own them because they know they are violent, either to seem mega macho or as actual attack dogs for property (though this is still a shit idea because they regularly turn on owners). A subset of these are people that still operate underground fighting rings.
2. People that own them to virtue signal because of the white savior mentality and further the propaganda machine. A subset of these are people that immediately believed the propaganda and got one.
3. Average Joes and Josephines who were told the pit was "good" by unethical shelters (aka all of them).

For anyone saying that Pit Bull owners are misguided - no. It is far past the time for ignorance. These dogs kill at higher rates than any other. The data has shown this for years.

They are not nanny dogs, they are not good with children, and they could be well-behaved for 10 years - but it only takes one instance. They have retard strength and jaws that might as well lock. Plus they are the ugliest beasts!

No one in their right mind would own these curs.

I don't think this has been posted before (it's c.2005) but I think we've reached peak pitnutter.
> family has an (ofc) intact male pitbull and (ofc) unaltered female
> male harasses the female all day to fuck and is aggressive, female isn't interested
> male dog attacks the 12 y/o son, Nick
> to "protect" her son from the pit bulls while the mom takes the other child to a carnival, she sends him down to the basement
> basement is moldy and the toilet is clogged with waste
> she gives him a shovel to arm himself
> eventually he can't be down there anymore and needs to pee, and when he finally goes upstairs he is killed by the pits
> mom blames the son for getting too close to the dogs
> makes a sociopathic comment about "it was Nick's time to go"
> "they should keep their pit bulls"
So it's the child's fault for wanting to use the bathroom in his own house. We don't put the fucking pit bulls in the basement, out in the yard (though most pit owners don't know what fences are so they could've rampaged the neighborhood), or in the utility room. No, we'll put the child in the dirty ass basement so the male dog can have the entire upper floor to harass the resistant female all day. Nick would've been approximately 28 this year.

Stereotypes exist for a reason. I swear to god 99.9% of pit bull fans are sociopathic retards. They almost always prioritize the dog over their kids, family, and friends and always see cats especially as collateral damage; blood sacrifices to the blood dog, if you will. A family will have a non-pit dog first, then adopt a pit, and then rehome the original non-pit when the pit starts acting neurotic and aggressive. It's narc golden child syndrome but a dog.

Have any academics done peer-reviewed studies on the kinds of people who own pit bulls and put them at the top of their priority lists? It’s fucking insane to me and I’d like to understand their motivations.

Studies were posted earlier in the thread that showed correlations to sociopathic/antisocial behavior in people who chose dangerous dog breeds. I forgot by what percentage they were more likely to be criminal but it was significant compared to say, a beagle owner.
