It's been over 10 years since I have taken BC because it made me absolutely INSANE. You could honestly be in the same room as me and breathe slightly louder than usual and I would take it as a personal attack and go on some hormonal rampage.

Wondering if anyone else had such extreme mental side effects such as this, it took about 3 years for me to figure out it was the BC causing my emotional issues, the particular one I was taking was called Trifeme.
I've heard of some people having that, which is why I started with the mini pills before I got my IUD. It's like any other medication, some people's bodies just hate it for whatever reason.

For me, shark week uninhibited by itself was what was fucking with my mental health, and the IUD has made it much milder.

Ive been *blessed* with light periods with minimal cramping, so I don’t relate to the shitshow of PCOS or endometriosis or irregular and heavy periods. So I’ve been able to use the copper IUD, cause making my period slightly heavier still means it’s pretty bearable. Before that I briefly used Mirena, and before that Nuvaring for like 10 years. All those worked great IMO.

One of my most controversial opinions is that birth control should be illegal, and I didn't come to that conclusion lightly.

I find men having opinions like this to be super tiresome because from experience my partners have all expected birth control to be handled by me; “your body your problem.” But some men like this guy also want to play philosopher and social scientist with [uncited] claims that actually, society would be so much better if women weren’t allowed to use BC.

I hate to be ‘that guy’ here but there are non hormonal birth control methods women have easy access to so you don’t have to ‘rely on men’. Go to any pharmacy and there are inserts, films, sponges, gels, foams, female condoms...all over the counter and fairly cheap, even free in some clinics. Diaphragms and cervical caps are also a thing and more than likely what your grandma used to prevent pregnancy.

“What your grandma used to prevent pregnancy” is not much of a sales pitch. These methods fell out of favor in the 90’s because nobody likes them and they’re not as effective as pills. Because nobody wants them, pharmacies barely even carry these products (yesterday @ CVS: 1 type of spermicide, approx 35 types of male condoms.)

Nor is it trying to be. The point is that if you can’t handle hormonal birth control because it makes you ill, and you’re worried about relying on men to have condoms, then there are other options. Diaphragms and cervical caps have to be fitted by a gynecologist, they’re not for sale over the counter. I’ve personally never been to a pharmacy that didn’t at least have two types of spermicide, though in the age of Amazon it really doesn’t matter if CVS has spermicide next to their out of date skittles.

You deal with it like we all deal with our unfortunate byproducts of being alive.
I did, thats why I have a IUD
Question for ladies, as you get older(and not having any kids) do your monthlys get to be rougher?
I'd imagine it depends on the person. My sister got worse but she also ended up having a giant-ass fibroid. I'd say if you can, seek medical advice if your periods are getting to be particularly demonic b/c you might have a fibroid or some other shit that needs medical treatment.

Lady parts have a pretty much endless list of ways they can malfunction, no shame in seeking medical help if it's seriously hurting your ability to live your life (even if it's just w/mental health shit like me).

If you have endometriosis, yes, it can since it tends to spread throughout your uterus and other abdominal organs overtime. You can slow it down if you have hormonal birth control though. Mother had to get a hysterectomy in her late 30s due to how bad it was. Having kids (if you are able to since it can cause infertility if not treated, aunt had to go through surgery just to have my cousin) can help alleviate it temporarily, but after you stop having kids, it can come back with a vengeance.

Nexplanon is a godsend and I am so thankful I was able to get diagnosed young due to my family history (mother, aunt and maternal grandmother all had it) because so many women often aren't taken seriously by doctors, even female doctors. I think it is due to having a bias with their own experiences thinking "Oh, pain is normal" without knowing the degree of pain ( and for some reason they don't do a Likert scale to rate the pain).

Pain during sex is also not taken really seriously usually they are like "Oh, just use lube and practice with a dildo" without getting to the underlying cause. It could be vaginismus (aka female ED essentially) and you would need to see a physical therapist and psychologist to retrain your pelvic floor muscles as well as dealing with the psychological causes like shame and anxiety, especially if abuse was involved. It could also be endometriosis which may require surgery and birth control or it could be an STD. It could also be a septate hymen or another unusual shaped hymen that needs corrected.

I mean, gynecology has always been extremely behind compare to other medical fields. Like, for example, the medical world is just starting to realize that clitoral phimosis is a thing where the hood doesn't retract or not all the way and can impact quality of life. Severe cases like the clit being completely inaccessible usually require surgery, but it quite risky and can possibly reduce sensitivity and cause nerve damage, usually done by plastic surgeons who don't know what they are doing (seriously, after seeing all the troon surgeries they do, do you really trust them?), and it isn't covered by insurance usually due to it being seen as "cosmetic"

What part of “these methods are outdated and nobody likes them” does this response address… no glove no love

The best birth control in the world is being an incel. Then you're guaranteed not to have to deal with the responsibilities of parenting or the inability to go clubbing with your gal pals every weekend.

Or you can be gay. You get to have sex but the risk of pregnancy is non-existent.

What was the point of you replying to a nearly year old post? Ive said myself that if a dude refuses to wear a rubber and you want him to then you probably shouldn’t sleep with him. The whole point was that if you insist on sleeping with him and can’t tolerate hormonal methods you have other options, not that they’re preferable. How is that hard for you to grasp?

Here’s a CDC chart by failure rate if you want to be autistic about it though.

Última edición:
1) birth control isn't only used for protection against pregnancy, if only you could read the title of the thread.

2) even if it is, why does it matter to you?
1) Those are medically necessary in rare circumstances. Even then I bet 99% of the women who take birth control just want to be sluts.
2) I like to have conversations just the hear the response.
