Oh, I wish I could allow my feathery brat to sit on my laptop.

But the last time he tried this, he knocked the damned thing off the counter, then decided that it offended him by not supporting his weight, so he grabbed the monitor in his beak and snapped it in half.

Parrots fucking suck.

I'm thinking of buying a camera to photograph wild birds but I am completely new to photography. Does anyone have any advice? Like a good beginner camera?

Here's some bird photos I took recently as tax.

Any camera with changable lenses will be a great start. Don't need anything fancy, just a second hand dslr is perfect to begin with. I started with a canon 700D and it was great to learn on. Put more of your budget into a nice lens. You want something with a bit of zoom, 200/300mm is a very nice starting point.

That being said, don't stress the gear too much. Just get something to get started and get the hours in. Find the good spots and bring the camera, take tons of photos and see what works for what you like. A good photographer can take great shots even on very cheap equipment,

If you want to look into editing and more camera settings, check out Simon D'entremont on youtube. He makes some great photography guides for all skill levels.

Just get out there and have fun with some feathery friends.

Sick cockatoo. I recently got a Nikon D5500 for the same reason. It came with a 55-300mm lens which is pretty much exactly what you'll want for taking bird pics. So far it's been very easy to use and it's light enough to hang on my neck all day during hikes.

Here are some shots that I've taken with it.
