Batman TAS ended up a lot better than it would have if there were no censorship safeguards in place since the writers had to get creative with what to show on screen.Hot take, censorship help make shows better. Having writers explicitly writing for a target audiance allows them to focus their themes and messages for that demographic. Plus, having limits on what they can and cant do means they need to actually be clever writers to dance around things with innuendo which can actually lead to a better scene then if they could be direct with it. Sometimes constraint lead to more creativity.
On the flipside, when John K was given full reigns on making Ren & Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon, it ended up as complete dogshit despite being "fully uncensored" and a complete playground for him and other writers to play in.
I don't agree with execs clamping down on certain ideas obviously, but holy shit those given "free reign" are doing an amazing job on giving them reasons for why creators should be placed on a leash if they keep pumping out dogshit episodes and movies despite being "uncensored".
