There is a related plothole though. Caine said he liked the main cast over making AIs of his own, because they had free will. But this contradicts Gumigoo, and the statement about how Ais that "ran too long" started to have their own thoughts.

There doesn't seem to be much difference between an Ai created by Caine that "runs for too long" and a brain scan human. By any measure Gumigoo was an Ai that was also his own person.

That would be a fun twist. The brainscans are very tiny so it must have the bare minimum information in there and when they get processed the AI needs to do a lot of filling in the blank to make a complete character hence why characters get strange bodies and amnesia. A stray cat mind gets added, and the AI works overtime to fill in the blanks to make it fit a human template, which leads to Jax.

Like Ragatha remembering her horses and and abusive household because it left a strong mark on her or them remembering their occupation because it was a core part of them. Them not remembering just their name is retarded. At that point just have their real names be censored like swears and Caine assigns them a stage name. It makes more sense and could make for a dramatic moment when Caine is gone and people can start using their real names again.

Kinger has issue with memory as stated in the third episode but it's less tied to anything brain scan wise and more a "I've been here so long shit blends together" kind of statement before he talks about how like the main thing that's stuck with him in his time there was the last moments he had with his wife.
