The Amazing Digital Circus - Western Isekai that probably will become Hazbin Hotel killer

I'm really satisfied with how the plotline about NPC sentience and the ambiguity surrounding their memories of past adventures was resolved. It was was great to finally understand if they were a continuation of the same "person"/mind, and when the clown fetish character and the gummy/alligator fetish character came to terms with the reality of their world and their place in it, I cried.

You could watch episodes 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8 while skipping the middlemost episodes and lose almost nothing.
Do you even need episode 2? The only thing that happens is Pomni befriends the NPC which leads to a moment in the fast food episode but not much else. They also go to the circus equivalent of the backrooms but that never gets used again either.
I've said this before in this thread and I'll say it again, one of this show's biggest sins was wasting time.
1, 2, and 3 had ingredients to make an interesting plot. 1 it is established that the clussy wants to escape (completely abandons that motivation almost immediately), 2 there is an area outside the scenario they can glitch into (completely abandoned all together), 3 the crazy guy actually knows what is going on and is lucid when it is dark (goes unused for most of the series)

To not make it a waste of time, have Pomni be proactive about looking for an escape, every adventure she tries to find a way to glitch outside the scenario to look for an exit and also spends more time with lucid Kinggler who helps her and drip feeds her information instead of dumping everything in episode 8.

The years came and went and now, well, barely ANYONE talks about S.U, except to mostly talk about its issues and "S.U was never good, admit it" type of videos.
I'll have to take your word for it, as I never watched any of those CalArts/Beanmouth shows, but I though SU held up well?

At very least, SU and Adventure Time I still see discussed, while Gumball and the rest never get a mention. Some of that is to be expected. While SU was airing, I heard of it mostly as an easter egg hunt with the show itself being secondary. It's only after all that stuff has been solved did I hear about people rewatching and enjoying it.

My speculation is that a lot of "SU actually sucks" type videos would likely come from said easter egg hunters and lore breakdown channels who are desperate for views.

I truly think we will see D.C enter that phase eventually where its haters will talk about it more than its fans. The only "con" to my prediction is that D.C is tied to the indie movement and many are attaching an unhealthy amount of investment in it as a "counter" to the mainstream, where you cant criticize indie projects* or else you are daring to support the mainstream and, GASP, AI even! (when you can criticize one without supporting the other but hey, here we go, expecting reason from the unreasonable.)
My prediction for TADC is once the show has ended, we'll have a wind down phase, and then we'll have a wave of "TADC actually sucked", and then a slow re-evaluation of it's actual quality, which I think will be positive in the long run.

I was thinking popular games with vocal number of haters. Games like Skyrim, Call of Duty 4, that kind of thing. I can see that being something TADC has. In the same way you can't talk about Skyrim for long without some sperg going on a rant how Daggerfall was better, and repeating the same non-arguments about how Skyrim removed spears and the medium armour skill.

Watched every episode up to 8. Nothing major happens up until episode 7. Episodes 5 and 6 just shat themselves and did nothing for 20 to 30 mins. I'm debating if I even want to watch episode 9. That was almost 4 hours of my life I will never get back.
If you didn't like it, why are you still watching it?

Just wish it wasn't only Space Kings, unfortunately. It can't be that hard for an indie show to actually have a unique identity and not feel like it was made to uphold to zoomers and the terminally online.
I know you probably mean "modern" indie cartoons, but this gives me the perfect opportunity to sperg about sovlful indie animation that is actually worth your time to watch.

Eddworld:
>Funny
>Silly
>Does not take itself that seriously
>Slice of life show about 3 (formerly 4) friends living together while whacky hijinks ensue.
>No deep lore for essayfaggots to cream themselves over

One of the few good things to come out of bong island and its creator died before he could've made it into something bigger, RIP Edd Gould 🥀

Salad Fingers:
>Actually creepy and unnerving
>But also humorous due to how absurd it is (something TADC will never be)
>Enough background info and lore implications that leaves theoristfags to ponder over, but otherwise is inconsequential.
>rusty spoons

Another lovely, nostalgic series from a bong (that also cameos as a VA for Smiling Friends)

Madness Combat:
>Literally just cool ass choreographed fight scenes and gore, John Wick-MAXXING that really puts test inside every edgy teen from the 2000s.
>there's lore but you could easily ignore it for the cool fights presented

The unique thing about MC is given how its animated, it has given fans an easy way into making fan animations that at times far exceeds Krinkle's own episodes.

Animator vs Animation (or anything by Alan Becker)
Similar appeal as Madness Combat, but far less gorey and edgy and more "for all ages". Just really well animated stick figures fighting each other for whatever situation they find themselves in.

Homestar Runner:
Despite its minimal animation, HR is the gold standard on what every kids cartoon should be: funny, memorable, no politicals, no gooner shit, doesn't take itself overly seriously, just a comfy flash cartoon about a armless speech impediment white guy chronicling his adventures with his other friends. Nu-indie animation WISHES they could have a cartoon this pure and wholesome (well maybe not because that doesn't bring in the big bux).

Bonus: Ongezellig
Probably the only "modern" indie animation that I actually like. I've already wrote my initial thoughts in the 'zellig thread here and it's pretty much stayed the same (silly girl cartoon about an anti-social teen with two adoptive sisters trying to be less of a reclusive failure). It's just unfortunate that besides being a DNB, it's now being infested by mexibrap shooters gooning to Mymy (the orange haired girl, xhe's a Dutch nationalist) before committing warcrimes. Now newGODS will think this show is for hecking white nationalist neo-nazis and anyone who watches it is a school shooting CHUD, sad!

I could go on about other webshows I've watched over the years, but you get the gist. There absolutely is talent to be found by those who truly give a fuck about their craft. It's just unfortunate that the current crop of "indie creators" happen to be the most faggiest and money-hungry bunch compared to those that came before them. (And also that they apparently don't treat their animators any better than established industry companies, which you'd think would be a major selling point about these "indie studios", but hey whatever gets the 'toonslop out I guess).

Do you even need episode 2? The only thing that happens is Pomni befriends the NPC which leads to a moment in the fast food episode but not much else. They also go to the circus equivalent of the backrooms but that never gets used again either.
Episode 2 was supposed to build on the "if a scan of someone's brain thinks it is alive then it is indistinguishable from an actual human" but executed by a tranny whose biggest gripe in life is "I can only feel strong against physically weaker women"

If I were goose's mom and I watched this I'd regret not having an abortion

I kind of like six because the cartoon characters hunting each other down is kind of fun. Sometimes you just want some fun cartoon violence in a dumb game that will just reset without consequences. Of course they still had to add long periods of crying, but I enjoyed the cartoon slapstick moments, could be cropped to make a fun short.

I actually don't think you do, now that you mention it. Also they really did waste so many ideas and concepts, didn't they?
Exactly, like their backgrounds for example. We are told Pomni is an urban explorer, but she never explorers anything in the circus because gooseworx made her incredibly passive to focus on her insecurity. Pomni should be a major driving force in the story her motivation to escape due to being fresh to the simulation combined with her natural curiosity and thrill seeking from being an urban explorer could lead her to discover new areas of the circus that the rest of the characters missed.

Just thinking about what could've been done with the story and characters is depressing. I think that's what most upsetting about how this entire show worked out, there was a lot of potential that got wasted.
I also still can't get over how what should've been important stuff got resolved/happened offscreen. Pomni and Ragatha's reconciliation, how we're just told "several days later" and don't even see the new torture adventures Cain forces the cast to go through, JAX ABSTRACTING OFF SCREEN. A lot of telling instead of showing so that Cooper can tell the story he really wants to, that being 'The Jax Show.' It's so frustrating.

Someone asked early why there were so many posts, and I think that's truly it. A lot of people can see how it's a solid premise with a fun set dressing. Unfortunately, with one writer being the auteur creator, it landed flat.

Too many writers can water a thing down until it's bland, but that's probably what makes it seem like fanfict writing... just the one writer who gets to make all the decisions Sometimes a few more pairs of eyes can help you recognize your own faults, even if it hurts to hear your baby isn't perfect right out of your head. That humility is a challenge.

24:47 - THANK GOD ITS OVER

i guess my final thoughts are that its a poor ripoff of a bunch of stuff and its really bad and faggy and i wasted half an hour of my life watching it genuinely watch almost anything else it's that bad

Pomni and Ragatha's reconciliation
I didn't even get the impresson they had beef. Like they seem friendly enough, the adventures don't really push them together enough to flesh out their relationship, and the only "mean" thing Pomni did was try to escape when Ragatha got hurt because she has no idea what the fuck is going on.
don't even see the new torture adventures Cain forces the cast to go through
I'm fine with that actually, it's a cute gag where he just grabs someone and they reappear later all fucked up. Also I was tired of the side adventures and just wanted the story to get to the meat and potatos.
JAX ABSTRACTING OFF SCREEN
Abstraction is so poorly explored that even if he did it on screen it doesn't matter. Also it isn't really a big tragedy because he was antagonistic for most of the show and was ready to die as he had nothing in the circus or potentially outside of it. It would be a bigger impact if literally any other character abstracted because they had something to lose or really did want to live but couldn't take it anymore.
Someone asked early why there were so many posts, and I think that's truly it. A lot of people can see how it's a solid premise with a fun set dressing. Unfortunately, with one writer being the auteur creator, it landed flat.

It's giving me SW prequel vibes. George Lucas had a lot of great ideas but combined with the dumb ideas and poor execution in general left a lot to be desired.

If I were goose's mom and I watched this I'd regret not having an abortion
If I was gooses mom I would be concerned that two of his characters have mommy issues and one may or may not have killed his mom for not accepting him.

It's just the fucking force awakens/last jedi/rise of skywalker shitty "subverted expectations ooo" shit but applied to "indie" stuff.

Shitlibs never fucking learn, because they refuse to. They know people hate subversion of expectations, and it makes them furious. Cooper, being a delusional man in a dress, somehow thinks he's better than normal people

I remember seeing a movie aired here that was rated 9 and up where a fat kid gets bullied into suicide and then the bullies have to deal with the guilt (to teach kids bullying is bad),

Wasn't the fat kid played by Josh Peck from Drake n Josh or am I thinking of a different movie?

I legit cant see Jax being that noble

Imagine an inverse where Jax is punished for a selfish decision, instead of a noble sacrifice. It'd at least play off the original

Or the episode in which Mr. Krabs drives Plankton to attempt suicide after scaring him too many times by making him pretend that his daughter Pearl will eat him.

That one was so fucked up niggas made a creepypasta of Plankton killing himself.

Also you know the story wasn’t written by a real woman because if they were socialized female, froggy would’ve ABSOLUTELY turned around and talked shit about Jax to Ragatha. Unfortunately Ribbit had to be a one dimensional plot device for a man 🐸

That would have made more sense for why Jax ends up ghosting her and becoming closed off : As Frank Fontain said, "betrayal, kid. Life ain't strictly business."

With that said, That last sentence sounds suspiciously feministic of you.....

The corniest faggots alive

In a just world, these people would be destitute on the streets

The corniest faggots alive
As funny as it is, it is truly cornball to cosplay as hazmat people.

Everytime I see The Jax Show I get reminded of that fan project that literally collapsed right after it was announced because it had Kittensneeze, who wasn't woke enough for the turbolib retards in this fanbase.

If I was gooses mom I would be concerned that two of his characters have mommy issues and one may or may not have killed his mom for not accepting him.

I'm amazed she hasn't divorced his faggot dad and disowned him
