The Amazing Digital Circus - Western Isekai that probably will become Hazbin Hotel killer

I just keep thinking about how this entire series ended up becoming a stretched out more sloggy version of this youtube funny moments edutainment parody thing with a shittier twist somehow.
I mean there wasn't really even much of a twist in this but you get me.

It's now been ELEVEN FUCKING YEARS, OVER A DECADE WHAT THE FUCK IS TIME

yes I know I already compared this thing to DHMIS and pointed out the inspirations... But what I didn't point out is them sharing a similar obnoxious fanbase. wow!

I'm on episode 5, so far it's the worst episode I've seen of this show so far. It's like puking on a pile of shit.

I'd rather shove my head up a camel with giardia's butt

And here's another kicker: the Jax being a tranny stuff actually reinforces all the negative stereotypes of trannies (unhinged, violent, unstable, etc.). I am enjoying the fact he pissed a fw

The tranny subconscious is trying to tell him he'll never be a woman

They were insane. An entire movie theater singing to every single lyric, it seemed everyone in the audience knew every single word. They were waving and throwing glowsticks everywhere. Fans passing out custom made merchandise for free to everyone in the theater (when did they have the time?). Dancing in the aisles. Screaming "I LOVE YOU TAYLOOOOORRRRRR!!"

These fucking goyim can vote

Always hate the Fans. They Support & feed what you hate!

I hate them with all my being

Or maybe this is just Gen Z's Rocky Horror Picture Show.

So it's for faggots?

Stop speaking Spanish, beaner

There will likely be no direct sequels. It's clear Goose wants nothing more to do with this, and Glitch can't just continue to milk the franchise directly without pissing off all the indietards.
They'll likely stick to non-canon shorts and merch shit.
Wasn't a season 2 already confirmed by Glitch?

Cant stop laughing at pissy cf people being mad theres annoying kids in such a kiddieshit movie. I mean i dont like them either but I just dont go to movies where its assumed there will be a bunch of kids.
The film is rated 12A in the UK, which seems to be a good range for it. On the one hand, I grew up watching Aliens, Robocop, and other movies that weren't appropriate for kids (there was even toys). On the other, kids are annoying little shits and having them shouting at the cinema is bad.

all of the brain-scan "they aren't real" habub is just hastily thrown in there.
I don't think it is. I clocked it as soon as they said they don't need to eat and sleep. That alone implies they are either not real, or time is skewed to a degree that seconds feel like years.

And the weird part is that I just can't put my finger on it.
I think part of that is it's a TV finale repackaged as a film, and also because there's a few unresolved plot elements that could've used more breathing room. (see below)

Doesn't count. TADC has discussion around it, people talking about favourite episodes, scenes, theories. Spaceking is just "per capita man" memes.

WH40k has the stories of epic battles in the dark cosmos, where billions of untold tales unfold in a cacophony of gunfire and wails. Where as dark as "there is only war" goes, you enjoy every fight won and sing the praises of your god and race.
Oddly enough, there is a surprisingly large subset of 40k fans that claim it's not grimdark enough. It's why Trench Crusade took off, and part of why it's died.

This is the thing I don't understand. I saw this a lot with Iron Lung too. "The movie is too long and could do with being half an hour shorter. Also, the film doesn't explain all the details it should."

Which do people want? I'm of the opinion that TADC could've used more breathing room. But then I find it better to end on a high note with the audience wanting more than driving a property into the ground.

It had plenty of breathing room. Almost too much breathing room. We learned about Kinger becoming more lucid when in darkness in episode 3. Pomni apparently forgets about this until episode 8.
What really should've been done was trimming out a lot of the fluff and actually focus on the story. You could watch episodes 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8 while skipping the middlemost episodes and lose almost nothing. Hell, someone could probably make a supercut that cuts out much of the filler from the middlemost episodes and it would probably still work.
I've said this before in this thread and I'll say it again, one of this show's biggest sins was wasting time.

This "movie" was never actually a movie it was always explicitly stated to be just the last two episodes back to back, but the issue is the second part just makes the part before it pointless while also nothing fucking happens outside it undoing everything the first of the two episodes in this theater showing . Like "oh god jax has to put up with this all being once again confirmed real and them being real people confirmed now! REALISTIC PANIC ATTACK!!!" and people reminding him they're there for him so he doesn't break down... and then in the final episode the folowup is "No they're actually all just brain scan ai copies he was right nothing matter and he stilla abstracts offscreen because reasons and nobody cares". The "oh shit they deleted caine! hes' perma gone! like for ever!" becomes "oh he's just in the void and decides to come back and tell them their history and he's nice now". It's just the fucking force awakens/last jedi/rise of skywalker shitty "subverted expectations ooo" shit but applied to "indie" stuff.

It's entirely possible to enjoy a cartoon for its story and themes without acting like kids wouldn't understand them
Its especially funny seeing it come from such 'woke' people, their reasons for tadc being totally not appropriate for kids at all are downright PURITAN compared to the shit I used to see on childrens network television in my hella pozzed country. These are the same group complaining about US networks being too strict whenever it suits them, too (usually for lgbbqt shit but also sometimes violence and stuff like that, like disney making hirch remove a scene where dipper snaps dippy fresh's neck).

I remember seeing a movie aired here that was rated 9 and up where a fat kid gets bullied into suicide and then the bullies have to deal with the guilt (to teach kids bullying is bad), I think the average kid can handle some cartoon violence and a few innuendos and curse words, especially if they have adult supervision during it. This thing totally couldve aired on my childhood tv channel in full except for episode 3 for the creepy imagery. Either that or the US networks are fully in their right to censor to the degree they do 🤷‍♀️ cant have it both ways.

Also on the 'interactive movies' thing: the same has been happening with concert movies for swift, kpop, etc, with the tween girls treating them like actual concerts. For actual regular movies (esp r-rated stuff) i can imagine it sucks ass, but for 'fan event' type stuff like recorded concerts (esp when going to the real thing would require like 2000$) and a special screening of 2 episodes of a show i dont think its that bad tbh

Or maybe this is just Gen Z's Rocky Horror Picture Show.

At least Rocky Horror Picture Show had this self aware vibe to it, they absolutely knew they were making entertaining trash and, really, that was their goal. Its not a movie that claims you are morally superior for liking it.

Digital Circus is 100% meaning what they say and do, believing what they are saying and HOW they are saying is vanguard and amazing and will save lives.

Rocky literally has Tim Curry in drag singing about Transexual Transilvania and one of the musical numbers has a letter ending with a literal "AAAAAHHHH". It absolutel KNOWS it is nonsense and wants you to have fun with it.
Really, Jax and Ted are the only fair comparisons, but even Jax's similarities to Ted was eventually dwarfed by the bigger focus on his masculinity/femininity, his relationship with Ribbit, and the finale where he just dies. No noble sacrifice, no heroic turnaround where he helps the others, he just dies/abstracts and therapy happens.

Ted has always been an unreliable narrator but he does an unironically noble thing at the end when he kills the others when AM was apparently too busy lol-ing at their no can opener induced misery, allowing them to rest in peace at the cost of himself basically living in Hell for all of eternity.

I legit cant see Jax being that noble.
when people keep emphasizing it as the MAIN inspiration, keep comparing Digital Circus with it, and constantly point to this inspiration as to the reason why Digital Circus is ACTUALLY a DARK and DEEP PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR show for ADULTS, it doesn't feel right

I legit see Digital circus suffering from a witdraw of the hype, similar to Steven Universe. Many fans kept gaslighting themselves and others that the finale of Future was amazing and gonna be talked about years to come.

The years came and went and now, well, barely ANYONE talks about S.U, except to mostly talk about its issues and "S.U was never good, admit it" type of videos.

I truly think we will see D.C enter that phase eventually where its haters will talk about it more than its fans. The only "con" to my prediction is that D.C is tied to the indie movement and many are attaching an unhealthy amount of investment in it as a "counter" to the mainstream, where you cant criticize indie projects* or else you are daring to support the mainstream and, GASP, AI even! (when you can criticize one without supporting the other but hey, here we go, expecting reason from the unreasonable.)

*"indie" when, really, its just another mainstream product with extra steps

How about that episode of SpongeBob where he and Mr. Krabs assume they killed a man and try to hide the body from the police? I watched that on Nickelodeon when I was in grade school.

Watched every episode up to 8. Nothing major happens up until episode 7. Episodes 5 and 6 just shat themselves and did nothing for 20 to 30 mins. I'm debating if I even want to watch episode 9. That was almost 4 hours of my life I will never get back.

I don’t particularly like how they ended Jax’s arc(I guess it’s open ended that he’ll maybe un-abstract at some point), but I think it was an okay finale. Nothing “Amazing”, but I don’t think it was absolute dogshit either. Just a bit too rushed.

Or the episode in which Mr. Krabs drives Plankton to attempt suicide after scaring him too many times by making him pretend that his daughter Pearl will eat him.

I thought it would be funny to go see the movie in theatres after witnessing PPP have a meltdown over the series. Didn’t go on opening night (who tf has time on a Thursday night?) so I missed the insane cosplayers, but the Saturday matinee was unsurprisingly full of preteens who were enthralled by each predictable plot twist.

Also you know the story wasn’t written by a real woman because if they were socialized female, froggy would’ve ABSOLUTELY turned around and talked shit about Jax to Ragatha. Unfortunately Ribbit had to be a one dimensional plot device for a man 🐸

I hate this design so fucking much. The full body in CGI is so much worse in the actual movie. Imagine the cheapest fursuit from China but worn by a man with a skin walking fetish, padding out the thighs and butt to stupid proportions. I really wish they at least gave her pants, because the proportions are so uncanny. I know clothing is inconsistent since they’re all toy creatures but for the love of god I hated every second I had to look at this naked thing.
