The Amazing Digital Circus - Western Isekai that probably will become Hazbin Hotel killer

Thinking about it, I can't wait for the fans who aren't spoiled by the leaks to learn that the abusive character they hate is actually the only transgender one in the show.

Like, the fans hate Jax because he is abusive to the others. Having him be the trans representation is gonna trigger the biggest TTD ever and Gooseworx is gonna be seen as a trans larper.

Well they had a month, if they were sane (and actually smart), that should be at least a bit of time to try and change the worst parts of the last episode, but I really doubt it.
It isn't unheard of for movies (even this late in production) to have alternate takes/lines/cuts of scenes but I wouldn't get your hopes up. I'd call it "Not impossible but improbable."

(Spoilers below, if it matters anymore)

I'm actually okay with Jax abstracting but only in a way that feels like a satisfying narrative conclusion to what was set up. From the leaks it... doesn't really feel like that? Maybe it's just me, but I don't think it works.

Jax abstracts, Pomni travels through his psyche to try to intervene, but he rejects it but regrets rejecting it at the very last second or something? So is the core point that he made a rash decision and it destroyed him? It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense and doesn't really feel climatic, in either a cathartic or a even in a tragic way.

Like, Hamlet ends with everyone straight up dying, but it makes sense and feels earned because the entire story is about the destructiveness and ultimate futility of being vengeful, the corrupting nature of power and how opulence can ultimately harm people's minds and hearts and make them miserable. The core thesis statement is "Greed and Wrath will destroy you if you let them."

What's the core thesis statement of TADC? Because in every other way it seems to be "even in a bad situation you can find fulfillment and happiness from other people." So, is Jax's arc his tragic failure to realize that in time? Because the fact that his IRL self is living a pretty good life kind of undercuts that point. Jax didn't seem to have much if any agency in his own downfall, he just got irrationally sad and went poof. By the time Pomni was there to intervene it seemed like the process was already just about finished?

If the message is "don't let your emotions overwhelm you and you can actually live a good life" then it's muddled by the fact that Jax could have just as easily avoided abstraction and learned that lesson. It would probably have been even more poignant since this is the version of Jax we've been following and care about.

Is it just "too deep for me" or am I on to something?

What's the core thesis statement of TADC?
That “There is meaning to be found in a stagnant life.” No need to believe me. It’s what , the creator of this show said.

Yes, it is as shallow, and dumb as you probably think it is.

That was "A message." Not necessarily "The message" from the looks of things. Even if we accept that as the core thesis statement, it doesn't really change much of my criticisms. Jax's story arc would perhaps be "Jax didn't learn that lesson soon enough, so he dies of despair."

Except it doesn't really work because while the fear of being a "fake" entity trapped in an empty and dead world was what sent him over the edge initially, it was clear from the journey through his psyche that the primary thing that tormented Jax the most was how he hurt or lost everyone he loved. If the message is "your life doesn't have to be fast paced or exciting to have value" then the message is muddled and doesn't really click. It isn't like he was trying to unfold some evil plan to sacrifice everyone else to gain a body and escape the circus, or take it over, or try to kill everyone else to "save" them from a fate they didn't need saved from.

If you want to write a tragic ending where a character is destroyed by their core flaws, generally you want the character to have some kind of agency in all of it. Jax doesn't really play much of an active role in his own downfall at all. He uses bad coping mechanisms to keep people away from him, but that's about the extent of it. The Abstraction happens not because of a choice he made but because of emotions he felt.

This is why I keep saying it feels like it isn't finished. Because it feels like the first draft of a screenplay, where you have an idea of the general events and the order they happen in, but the actual finer details that connect them all together aren't there yet, and it feels unsatisfying and incomplete.

I really don't understand the tranny mind. Seriously prove to me it isn't just npd with crossdressing. "I'm only a horrible person because you won't let me be my true self so you better let me larp in a spinny skirt and go into the girls locker room or you're a heckin transphobe and i'm gonna kill myself" Yeah because that's what a "sane except they wish they had opposite genitals" (what they bank on normies thinking troons are) would say. He's really coming all out with it and expecting people to relate and coddle him. Good Christ these people really are nuts.

I am not trying to change your criticism or opinion, I am just reporting what the author said.

I doubt GW would reply with a minor theme after prompted that question about a message to take from the show, but l'll give him the benefit of the doubt just this once for the sake of argument that he had something bigger in mind.

I won't stop you if you see deeper message or themes. But I just have a hard time buying it isn't yet again fans thinking this deeper than GW ever did.

Except it doesn't really work because while the fear of being a "fake"

You are preaching to the choir. I think most of us agree the finale is poorly written and doesn't really work or follow it's themes.

I haven't seen the full leak. Does Jax turn out to be a troon?

No he's just a little bitch and they have him have character development last minute of going "I feel bad for beign a jerk" and then he accidentally steps on a bomb and dies and becomes their retarded pet eyeball monster dog thing

Also they try to excuse it by adding a plot point never even hinted at where he kills his mom.

You will have to go to your local library for the proof. Everything I read pre-dates the Internet. This was read in some obscure-ass forensic psychology and abnormal psychology journals I read back in the dark ages of the 1980s that stuck in my mind like a burrowing maggot for all these years.

Just be ready to harden your heart. And stomach. You will read things that make stories of dicked out Raggedy-Ann dolls standing in for children look like a church encyclical.

Whenever somebody complains about being spoiled, just remind them that there is meaning to be found in a stagnant finale.

where he kills his mom.
Didn't even kill his mom because we see his IRL self is doing fine and facing no legal repercussions, so obviously she didn't really get hurt.

She said something that made him feel emasculated, he shoved her and ran away and clearly felt guilty about it weeks later, which seems to imply he genuinely loves his mom and is worried but also probably severely overreacting.

or something. It wasn't super clear. Probably because it was an obviously unfinished cut used for the production of a foreign dub.

Looking back, it's kinda funny. When people were mad that the finale was going to be shown in theaters 2 weeks before the Youtube premiere because they lived in countries that wouldn't show it due to censorship or other complications, the majority of the fandom defended Glitch by saying "Oh, just stay off the internet for 2 weeks if you don't want to be spoiled"

The leak dropped about 2 weeks before the theater showing. Now, the majority of the Digital Circus fandom are mad that they have to stay off the internet for 2 weeks if they don't want to be spoiled.

Also, anyone got a clue on what these other things Goose mentioned besides IHNMAIMS are?

Popee the Performer is a weird Japanese cartoon that served as the inspiration for Jax and Gangle.

Infact, there was an official collab between TADC and Popee the Performer earlier this year.

Gooseworx is very proud of this collab.

Kid Pix is a drawing program that served as the inspiration for some of the visuals around the circus.

"I Spy" is a series of children's books that also served as inspiration for the visuals, specifically for the toys scattered around the circus.
