Actually, I wanna make a ranking of characters from best to worst and why i put them in that order

Spoiler: autism

1. Kafumo is the best character, he was just a regular person without pronouns or a grating, annoying voice, genuinely wish we had him instead of anyone else in the cast.
2. The chess guy with dementia is just whatever. I don't like the way his insanity can be switched on and off but, at least, both versions of him are actually inoffensive.
3. The doll girl trying to keep everyone together has done little to nothing wrong, I simply almost forgot she existed because a certain tranny gave her 0 time for actual development.
4. The clown girl is meant to be a stand-in for the audience, she's competent at it but doesn't feel like a completely developed character at times, most of the times she's just "what the audience would do/think"
5. I got a friend who is a little like the ribbon girl, not as bad or insufferable, her voice is ear grating, the whole mask thing is fucking lame in general and unlike most of the cast, we got an episode that explores her and I just think she's fine, I worked my ass at an hotel's kitchen for a while and I can fully understand how an autistic fuck that wants to make art can get their soul broken by doing a similar job instead of being able to pursue her own dreams.
6. Caine, should have died and honestly, he should be lower on the list, can't fucking stand him, its just that I really fucking hate...
7. The nigger queen, we know only 2 things about her: she's a nigger and she's the wife of the chess guy.
8. The fucking frog. Going "maybe you are trans" to a guy who is struggling to deal with the fact that he may or may not have killed his mother is fucked on too many levels for me to fully discuss it.

While it's not stated in the show, and most of the theory comes from nitpicking, you have good reasons to say "no", but the author is a perma-online troon that OUTRIGHT STATED that Jax is trans. TADC didn't seem like trannycore slop, but the signs are there: 60% of the cast is trans, "abstracting" is allegory to suicide, etc.

Kinger - Brilliant computer scientist, married, and has children and the only guy without any IRL baggage.
Ragatha - Only character to give a shit about other people and tries to be strong for the others - horribly underutilized and her IRL ending should be her with a family of her own and being a good mother.
Gummygoo(?) - Interesting idea NPCs gaining sentience if left to exist for too long, too bad that concept was snuffed out with him.
The ugly fish - 4/10 cameo performance, his nose was not big enough.
Caine - he got some bemused exhale out of me ocasionally - 10/10
Zooble - Seems chill enough
Gangle - She exists
Able - fucking useless character who exists solely to force the characters to escape because nobody can be bothered to try on their own.
Pomni - Terminal case of "I can fix him." IRL version would end up dead at the hands of an abusive boyfriend.
Jax - Trooned out after blowing his chances with a girl and likely goons to Gangle's personal hentai stash. His act of redemption was to kills himself in the most inconsiderate way possible leaving everyone else to clean up the mess - 10/10 for the most realistic potrail of Troons in modern media.
Bubbles - Dead as his voice actor's career.

The problem with the "no filler" mindset so many showrunners are taking nowadays is that it tricks them into thinking that they should never spend time on things outside of the main plot. Which is why often they struggle to flesh characters out. Another thing is that it's hard to do lore stuff in an episodic series (at least off the top of my head), so I doubt many modern indie projects will bother with that over choosing serialization.

The ‘main plot’ of a series can serve as a MacGuffin, and is in fact a pretty common device in TV series. Sometimes it’s limited to the first episode or the first season, and other times it just kind of peters out and everyone forgets about. Sometimes it is used to show the character growth itself: the main character changes in such a way that the ‘main plot’ becomes irrelevant (anime relies on this a lot, simple example is Pokémon).

The reverse: start with loose continuity and become ‘serious’ later is harder to pull off. The characters and concept need to be very compelling. It worked for Star Trek. I don’t think it worked that well for those Disney Channel shows some of the younger folks here fawn over. It did work for Jimmy Neutron although that series started with a high stakes movie to introduce the characters so I’m not sure if that counts. I don’t believe Goofworx had a ‘grand vision’ from the beginning. I think he went this route. The series was simply too short to pull it off. A few people talked about how having a few more episodes would help. Maybe in theory.

I can’t tell if the trans Jax idea was planned from the series conception (I lean towards that being the case and it was just handled so poorly it feels like a last minute addition), but it is interesting how the main source of criticism for the series was its incessant focus on Jax and now that the trans shit is confirmed people angry about that can now just be dismissed as “transphobic”.
