El-P's beats were something else, man. He's definitely my top 3 DJ with lots of great guest appearances. I don't mind Run The Jewels, but that style is not the same.


The whole era of Company Flow followed by numerous solid Def Jux releases is nostalgic to me. Aesop's old stuff is timeless, too.

 
In 1994 Biggie put out his song “Juicy”. The year before, a rapper from Mississippi known as Notorious B1 put out a song called “Big Daddy”.

There are obvious similarities between the two songs, and the fact that Biggie released “Juicy” a year after “Big Daddy” was released made people believe Biggie ripped off Notorious B1’s hit.

One of the producers for “Juicy” was P. Diddy, who people believe stole “Big Daddy” from Notorious B1. Diddy wanted Biggie to acknowledge “Big Daddy” and its creator, so in the song, Biggie says:
Now honeys play me close like butter play toast
From the Mississippi down to the East Coast

Notorious B1 spoke about the situation, in which he said, "I want everybody to know the truth. I was the original Notorious Big One."
