To this day i have no idea how the inferior version of this made it on the album, his flow is shit on the album version and the beat isn't even comparable to this version. DMX was one of the absolute realest niggas in the game.
Ja Rule from Loose Change
To this day i have no idea how this nigga ever had a career. Wackness personified.

Listening to some classic Aesop Rock right now.

My nigga.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=Aw95z9i2y5c"Onyx" still remains as the single best name choice for an all-black crew. Love their aggressiveness, don't need complex rhyme schemes when your shit sounds as real as this. I remember being in absolute disbelief when that shitty "Blade" TV show started airing in my country and seeing Sticky Fingaz as the Daywalker.

9/Nine, who i feel was always mad underrated, got that same, raw 90s NY style:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=0Z7IN_kWXTYU-Neek is crazy on this as well, not to mention the beat.
Holy shit Nine mentioned. My mom talked about how he was DMX before DMX showed up lol.

ive never really liked korean rap or rap/hip-hop in general, but i just really like this song and the whole album overall. the album itself is not a 100% hiphop, just new jack swing but still worth a listen

Oh yeah, when I mentioned El-P I forgot about this:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=uWfJezcwtNg
I think it contains several nods towards El's Deep Space 9mm.
Christ, unlistenable beat for me. Sure does have nods to Deep Space 9mm, his flow is structured similarly to Golden Age El from what i can gather of the 15 seconds i've listened to this.

Thread tax: Never fucked with anyone of Wu-Tang much but ODB is a standout mcee, especially for the time when he was blowing up, and i always liked this Cappadonna (not even sure if he was ever a full Wu-Tang member) track:

All-time #1 ODB track, miles ahead of his time when it originally dropped, flow and rhymes unmatched by anyone else in his crew (from what i listened to over the years):

Just some shit i've got in my playlist right now, love the Vinnie Paz verse in this, don't even need to lose words about Ill Bill, his shit stands for itself to this day:
"Me and Bill is like the light and the thunder/like a 1985 Iron Mike and his hunger", goddamn.

And some shit from the La Coka Nostra Bill days, never did get warm with that whole thing, but Bill is Bill and Slaine's shit i started to like over the years even if i didn't listen to much of his stuff. Beat and hook on this makes me feel feels, that single tear rolling down my cheek anytime i listen to this one. Too much familiarity with the shit in this track:

I was talking about the lyrics primarily, although the spoken intro is another similarity to some early El-P releases.

I like these beats you fucker, reeeeeee

No hate, fella, i think it's a generational thing. It's practically the same situation i encountered back in the days when "The Cold Vein" and "Fantastic Damage" dropped, most of the then-die hard hip hop crowd just could not get into it because new things were tried, i loved them, majority hated them.

Prof's new song Kia Boy is a banger.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=qMaG3zFGtaU
I have really been getting into Prof over the past 3-4 months.
Prof's actually been getting decent attention on Instagram over this, though most people are calling it "burger music" and basically just call it garbage. Never been a big fan of Prof, I liked Bar-Breaker (though mostly because of the Aesop Rock production) and that one song with the Walka Flocka Flame feature.

Fun Fact, Rhymesayers' three most popular videos on YouTube are Prof ones. You'd expect it to be Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, or even MF Doom, but nope, it's Prof. I knew about Atmosphere, E&A, and others on RSE from way back when, but never heard of Prof when apparently his videos/music were blowing up. I still find the whole situation with RSE dropping Prof to be weird (he was dropped over ancient edgy tweets/comments and his old DJ got caught up abusing girls or something along those lines), he seemed to have been bringing in a decent chunk of change but then again this was during 2020 where people were getting their lives ruined for literally anything. I'm sure RSE isn't too worried about money nowadays though, they can just keep reprinting and watering down MF Doom's legacy for a cash injection anytime they need it.

JPEG Mafia just released his annual Valentine's Day freestyle

This is what the production on the most recent album should have been imo. Peggy, just make some catchy shit please.
