next to Ill Bill's "What's wrong with Bill?
Agreed. It's a classic to me. Necro's production was incredible and there's not really any skippable tracks. I was doing some court-appointed shit as a teen, maybe anger management or something. I walked into the room with my headphones on and this other kid was like, "Is that 'What's Wrong With Bill?'" Rare to find someone else who'd know it in the wild.

Legend Has It is also one of my favorites.

"I trust nobody, question everything, I'm the king/ Turn the weak into wolves and the wolves into sheep/ Teach you how to kill police and dispose of the heat/ My foes throw themselves off of buildings in the throes of defeat/ I'm like the Moses of this whole shit/ I got bitches that sell blow, blow dick, and suck they own tits/ Chokin' on weed smoke, we squeeze toast/ My enemies scream, 'No! Please don't!' Get your whole team soaked!"

I've tried a few different times to listen to The Cold Vein. That shit is legit unlistenable to me.. It's so meaningful to people who I fuck with, but just not for me. It cracks me up how different certain tastes are, even when they're super aligned. For reference, Big Pun - Capital Punishment, Masta Ace - Dispoable Arts, and SSLP are probably my favorites that I can listen to all the way through.

That Holocaust verse on the Silkworm track off Bobby Digital is still one of the best shits ever to me. I remember first hearing it and was like, "Who the fuck is that?!" Then I think he had nothing else like it because he fucked his brain off PCP and shit. He released an album under like Robot Tank or something where he rapped in a British accent, wtf.

"You've fallen down an endless tunnel of doom reality..." is one of my favorite verses. I don't even really listen to rap anymore, but still bump shit from when I liked it.
Let’s see what you guys think about some Aussie hip-hop.
No 360? My laptop crashed years ago and I lost so much music. Drapht - Who Am I was a cool song.

Same. Lyrics are just insane. That one you quoted, "I'm like the Moses of this whole shit", gets me every time. I'd say it's my favourite track of the album but then there's American History X, there's Anatomy of a School Shooting, there's Alien Workshop... just banger after banger on it.

I get that from many people, real love or hate shit, no inbetween.
Big Pun - Capital Punishment
Absolute classic. Still give it a spin now or then.
Cage also worked with Eon
Eon still with his exact same cookie cutter flow and dogshit lyrics from ~2002? Man, i hate that nigga, ruins every track he's on.

See, and there we go, agreeing that Mr. Eon is the worst. He got lots of good beats from Mighty Milo, too. Ugh. I never really liked Cage, although funnily, Hell's Winter had some of the few I dug. His verse on the Eastern Conference All Stars posse track was great, though.

"I went to my grandmother's funeral, fucked up, in a rush/ Stood over that bitch, smelled embalming fluid, fiending for dust/ My baby's mama taught my daughter to ask for paper/ Told her Disney World blew up so I ain't had to take her."

Eon definitely shit the bed on that, too. "Y'all couldn't shed light if y'all were the sun." I wish I hadn't lost all of my music, haha. I'm trying to remember all the shit I thought was good since I'm picky. Louis Logic - Sin-A-Matic was a solid one.

You heard this old Bill snippet song that I don't believe ever came out?

Edit: Uploaded a .zip with like 50 songs I still have that I like. Maybe folks here will dig some. Your boy was rocking MP3s in Winamp until I was forced to join the 21st century.
A new Sadistik song with a guest appearance from Cage just dropped. It's pretty nice.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=H1ZWiV7O6YcCage also worked with Eon and Mi early this year for a Smut Peddlers reunion-like song. I think this has probably been his most productive year in a while lol
Hey, glad to see Cody's still doing music. It was never really my style, but he was always a solid writer. The last stuff I checked from him was tight.
Tom Green too.
Tom Green actually was a rapper. He was in a group in Canada called Organized Rhyme. They had a song called "Check The O-R" where he said, "I lay more chicks than Mother Goose." There's a video of him rapping a bit with Xzibit on his reboot show and you can tell he's got some chops.

Another mcee who i feel isn't getting enough love is Q-Unique. Nowhere near the best on anything but i relate too much to the shit he spits to not love what he does (especially that "My cousin leaving the earth in a hearse" line on this):
Bought this album without even giving it a listen first, do record stores even let you do this these days?
Bill's verse overshadows the others but i love the Santeria theme Q is going for. Sick Jacken is kinda wack though.
I like the beat a lot more than the lyrics and his flow in this (i feel he's too slow on this), still pump it regularly
Pretty much same as above but lyrically much better and again, way too relateable. Beat is crazy, not sure right now if it's a Necro beat but i think so.

I definitely recognize the beat. Did another track use it?

I lost tracks forever that i only had on cassette tapes because i joined the future too late, feeling this. I am still looking for a track where the hook sampled Cage's Agent Orange's "sick intentions" or a Non-Phixion's "Sleep Walkers" early version that i never found again. Or Ex-Lib's whole album that had a Mr.Hyde feature on one track, but that's more of a Web 1.0 lost media thing.

Anyone know what ever happened to Despot? He apparently worked with Lil Yachty a while ago and was on a billy woods song earlier this year with El-P production but still hasn't released a single project. I always thought he was nice.

Hooooooooly shit dude! You just solved a 20+ year old mystery for me!

Edit: My brother used to make me tapes and i only ever had this track on one tape, eventually lost or gave away the tape and never ever heard that track again. Never even thought that it could've been a Yak track, i used to listen to some of his shit.

Yak sure sounds like Dollar Tree Cage.

Digging it, would've definitly pumped this back in the day, never heard of the dude before though. Very nice beat.

Edit: Just now saw the .zip posted, grabbing it and having a listen.

Doublepost and another post that i am not sure people are even interested in but i like this thread a lot. Never would've thought i'd encounter people who like listening to the same shit i do on KF of all places.

Kept it international today:
My french is shit and i usually don't like listening to rap i don't understand nor Auto-Tune bullshit but i make an exception for Kekra (Name is in verlan, a parisian slang where you switch syllables, notoriously hard for even native french speakers to understand. Kekra becomes Kra-ke = Crack). Hook is along the line of "Life is hard like the shell of Koopa". Dude disappeared from the face of the earth quite some time ago from what i can tell, so i either think lengthy jail sentence or dead. Quite famous despite being straight underground.

Other frenchies (french gypsies, Gitanes, in fact) i dig despite not getting much of what the lyrics are about, "Swag like Hulk Hogan" is some shit i understand and a Cammioneur is a truck driver. They also have their own slang that's even less intelligible than verlan. Still, the overall sound gets me. German (my native tongue) rap also relentlessly bites the french to this day, no wonder i like it.

Co'sang are the only italian rappers that are not straight-up wack (see current bullshit like S'ferra Basta for comparison). You can hear the Nas and Gang Starr influence right away, shit got uploaded 19 years ago. My italian is much better than my french but these niggas speak in Naples dialect so even my italian-born girlfriend has trouble understanding them. DeepL does a surprisingly good job at translating the lyrics, hook is along the lines of "In the hood/block things are shit, that's why my brother's still smoking".

Arab kid from my city who i consider the #1 street rapper in Germany, lyrics tell you he's not someone who tells tall tales if you are from here. Beat is next level, pretty much the whole album is. Criminally underrated, the low clicks are a disgrace, don't know if it looks better on Spotify because i don't use that service.

Edit:
Despite not liking Hasan K. much the beat sample is just ridiculously good and i love the aggressivness with which Brudi spits in the second verse.

This thread is mostly older 90s rap and that's fair enough but I am fond of newer trap and stuff like that as an unabashed soundcloud rap enthusiast it's difficult to get other people into it but I get its not for everyone, some of my favourites

Some people who are really into Def Jux might recognize him, but I've never heard anyone mention Cool Calm Pete. He lives up to the name and in my opinion pulls off that "too calm and chill" type persona better than anyone else (even Guru from Gangstarr). His earliest work was with a group called Babbletron (would highly recommend checking them out, I think Doom might've even produced a beat or two for them) before he put out his solo album on Def Jux in 2005.

He dropped a couple of singles and features here and there and was on the Def Jux X Adult Swim collab tape in 2007 before going MIA and doing design work for Supreme. A couple of months ago he finally released his sophomore album and its not too bad. He keeps a low profile so who knows if anything else is in the works.

What the fuck happened to Danny Brown? Just saw the feature list for his new album and it's full of hyperpop troons. Not gonna bother listening to it. I know he's been doing similar things for years, he's terminally online and even has a song with that faggot Nathan "Dad" Barnatt, but he always kept that shit at arm's length from his albums. Weird as fuck that an artist his age with a lengthy career pivoted hard to a genre exclusively listened by troon teenagers.

Midlife crisis? Dedicated chaser? Or does he genuinely enjoy the garbage pushed on TikTok? I can't figure it out.

I feel like he's going after a different target audience now after the success of the album he did with jpegmafia. At first he was a traditional rapper from Detroit with wacky qualities, then his began rapping/production became even more experimental, and now more recently he's just been catering to full on autistic, terminally online troons. I think he's given up trying to get respect from his hip-hop peers and is now just trying to affiliate himself with weirdo Hyperpop/TikTok artists for a couple bucks. It's honestly sad to see. The guy who once brought you a Kendrick, Earl Sweatshirt, and Ab-Soul and was on a classic posse cut from ASAP Rocky, track now almost exclusively does songs with the faggot and troon community.

A while ago I caught myself watching some old Vladamir TV videos and I got jumpscared by him, I don't even think he had too much material out:

Midlife crisis? Dedicated chaser?
I'd guess both aren't too far fetched. Used to watch his podcast (highly entertaining) and he was very open and very candid about his escapades, especially the sexual ones, pretty sure he fucked dudes before. I remember one :story: story he told about Ninja from Die Antwoord, supposedly that dude uses Yolandi as bait for men he wants to fuck/get fucked by and how Danny told the story it sure sounded like he was on board with that. Wouldn't be surprised if he already has experience with troons, too.

even has a song with that faggot Nathan "Dad" Barnatt
What the fuck? Did not know that, i didn't listen too much stuff he did post XXX.
I think he's given up trying to get respect from his hip-hop peers
I don't think he ever cared about that much, even in the beginning of his career he was much more unconventially hip hop than anyone else back then, right down to how he dressed and acted. Or, as he once put it so eloquently on his show "I love white people, i wouldn't have a career without white people. You think niggers buy my shit?".
