I wouldn’t say overnight, but it was pretty immediate. There are still a few people doing it that are really good, but that era where it was all over the place has definitely long gone. A lot of it could have to do with changes to YouTube, tbf

With how crazy youtube is now around copyright stuff, I can see doing an Abridged series ain't gonna be easy. Combined with, let's be honest most abridge writers fucking suck and hard. The only ones that really stand out are the guys doing SAO because that series was pretty bad and is great for jokes, and then there's Goblin Slayer, which is hit or miss, but I found the abridged version really funny.

On the topic of other Abridged Series, the guys doing Super Abridged are decent. Not exactly a masterpiece, and the first few episodes are kind of rough, but it's still better than anything TFS has put out in the last 8 years.

New episode dropped a day or so ago.

It has a lot of that old Abridged Series vibes of riffing off some of the more questionable decisions in the source material (DBS is notoriously filled to the brim with plot holes and bad writing) whilst making some changes to the story that actually work for the better, like later DBZA.

They made two children into a gay joke/fanfic in dbza there's nothing stopping them from inserting their gay bullshit into everything

But that's not what happened, even in their dub. Goku was dead, he wasn't wished back for a year because he was told to train for the saiyans coming. And Gohan volunteered for space, even standing up to his mother for the first time to do it. And it kept happening.

They admitted part of what took episode 60 a year to come out was that they realized they'd gone too hard into the "Goku is a bad dad" thing and now the emotional payoff of the father-son Kamehameha at the end didn't work, so they had to try and undo it in a couple of speeches.

Most of this goes unsaid so everyone assumes that he doesn't care enough about Gohan, and it's not like he was there to learn how to teleport [he probably was shown some of their weird things, started with the meditation process, and only really managed to focus on teleporting over the other things he could've learned]. Also, Piccolo KIDNAPS Gohan without Goku's permission either, he doesn't say anything like 'Piccolo, please, take Gohan and train him to be strong enough to fight the next threats for me'.

After following the thread I've come to the conclusion TFS and LK mayyyyy have been able to go professional had they acted a lot more humble and more importantly, learn how to make connections. It's not fair but if you want to get anywhere in an industry you need to kiss ass and be strategic. None of them understand that they are expendable and whatever potential they MAY fill COULD BE FILLED by someone more willing to listen.

I think when it came to the TFS crew (mainly Lani and Takahata) they understood the being humble and kissing arse part. Kaiser however? Oohohho...That fucker would set himself on fire before he'd tone down his ego.
