🤝 Community Tard Baby General (includes brain dead kids) - Fundies and their genetic Fuckups; Parents of corpses in denial

Here's a story about a sped family who are NOT treading into LOLCOW territory. They didn't know their daughter had a rare genetic disorder until after she was born, and they seem to just take it a day at a time.

Feelsbadman. Only worse cases show up before birth, with 2 and 6 only after birth. Here's a choice line about type 2:

"No patient with the classical PCH type 2 ever achieved the milestones of sitting, crawling, standing, walking, talking, or developed meaningful social contact skills. Visual fixation is persistently poor and only about one third of these patients are able to fixate and follow."

What a fucking horrifying life.

Another odd thing is that type 2 is a mutation in three tRNA splicing endonucleases, but type 6 is a mitrochondrial mutation? And that's like, for sure, there's genetic tests to screen for either. So pontocerebellar hypoplasia types are just lumped togdther cause they look similar, but have potentially completely different mechanism.

Another fun fact? The mutation causing mitochondrial disfunction isn't even in a gene. It's in a non-coding region.

There's this tendency of sped workers that I've noticed to act like all misbehavior is solely because the kid wants attention/doesn't want to do what they're told/etc and to not even consider the bigger picture. The kid is treated as the sole problem when it's almost always something bigger going on in the kids environment.

But it's easier to just blame it all on the kid instead of question how mom Karen treats them, or god forbid the sped workers seriously evaluate their own treatment of these kids.
Good Special Educators don't. Sadly, it's a job with a high burnout rate. And they can't control what goes on at home...if parents give into the kid for fear of a tantrum, they'll throw a tantrum at school in hopes of getting what they want. It's an exhausting job because not only is it teaching, but it's case management as well...

Special Educators, especially good ones, have my utmost respect and appreciation because it isn't a an easy job and (as someone with a severely Autistic family member) when you find one that is good at their job & cares about the child, you feel immense gratitude.

Good ones might not, but as I mentioned earlier in my experience most sped workers are terrible. It's also less kid throws a tantrum because it gets them what they want at home as it is at home their parents constantly scream at them (or worse) and the kid lashes out as a result because they can't cope in a better way. Even kids who are verbal and can tell the teachers what's going on at home are often ignored or worse, blamed for the abuse.

Lots of powerlevel experiences with this stuff.

It also depends on what kind of SPED the teacher specializes in. The ones who are basically glorified babysitters, for people like the ones in this thread, are not going to deal with the same issues as, for instance, a teacher at a school for children who are deaf and/or blind but otherwise mentally normal, or even a teacher who supervises a classroom of kids who are at least marginally educable.

The real fun cases are where everyone is disabled. I was a teenage volunteer counselor to a summer day program for retarded teens and young adults. Mostly you had a display of recessive genes and chromosomal mishaps, except for one guy. Unsurprisingly, tard+tard=tard and it was both comical and frustrating, especially since they didn't have any caretakers, at least full time anyways. Which is why the guy went to the program in dirty clothes and smelled, because mom went around in dirty clothes and smelled, because she didn't understand why staff (or anyone else) had a problem with that. If anything has changed, it's only because they have full time caretakers that won't tolerate that shit.
I have a friend that cut off his entire family over this kind of thing. His sister was mentally disabled and had a bf that was as well (nothing wrong as they both lived with caretakers and had jobs) until his mother took her daughter off of birth control and let them have a baby!!! Her reason is that their child was born normal and could take care of them when they were older.
Years passed and the kid is in grade school but pretty much raised by his grandparents. So the Special needs mom is allowed to have another kid. My friend said maybe its a bad idea and his mom all but disowned him after she went off on fb about their new "miracle".

Sometimes though tards are just violent and mean because they're violent and mean. Like regular people. Or lash out for something perfectly reasonable, like being put on a (proper) diet because they're fat and lazy.
That's true too. I'm kinda biased I think because most of my experiences are specifically with classrooms and alternative school for kids with behavior issues and for the most part those kids came from situations that were varying degrees of fucked up (lotta foster kids for example, especially at alternative schools).

Yeah I have no experience with sped teachers for deaf/blind kids or at private schools. All my experience is with public school ones. And yeah, at alternative schools especially the "teachers" really are just glorified babysitters (alternative schools are just daycare for problem kids, and it sucks because there are plenty of kids there capable of learning stuff but the aren't really given any instruction beyond being told to read sections of textbook and do the questions afterwards).

I think about half or more of the kids at the alternative schools I was at were foster kids, including the tards. A few did seem to have families that cared about them though (like this one guy, huge guy, mostly non-verbal, but 99% of the time he was sweet as could be. When he did act up though it was scary because he was huge, but thankfully it only happened maybe once or twice when I was there. He parents and grandparents came to the school a lot and clearly loved him deeply).

Oh yeah, I remember meeting a couple kids who were adopted from Russia and other countries with fetal alcohol and other shit. Definitely don't envy them, even with loving parents spending the first couple years of your life in an orphanage in a developing country probably traumatizes and fucks you up for life.

Pretty terrible, sad shit. And then there are the people who "rehome" these kids after adopting them, which is such a dick move. Like that one mommy blogger with the autistic boy she adopted from China solely for social media clout only to ditch him when she thought he was too much work.

Have there been any updates on that BTW? Last I remember was no one could track down where the boy even was (though he was presumably rotting in a foster home or institution) :(

What the actual fuck. Did the disabled couple even want to have kids themselves, or are they basically just being used to breed grandchildren for an insane woman? That horrific and creepy as fuck.

I also don't get why people think kids exist to care for their parents when they get older. Even people who aren't disabled say that shit when kids don't owe their parents anything. Especially not parents who are terrible people.

This happened in my town. The little boy is safe with a loving family and accounts are saying that he is doing very well. The Stauffers (the mommy blogger family who gave him up) are total pariahs now and have essentially fallen off the social media map. The husband's car repair business also suffered greatly, but I believe it's still open. The are THE. WORST. And deserve all the hate they're getting.

I recall the old blog posts the mom made before the adoption where she asked which disability was the easiest to manage. It was obvious she thought she could score big points by being the "miracle mom" that went out of her way to rescue a special needs baby from China.

The orphanage said he was originally autistic (with multiple doctors saying he was likely more severe than the organization claimed) but she found a "doctor" that claimed he was perfect and that he would grow up to be completely normal. Then it turned out he had much more wrong including a stroke in utero, a severe attachment disorder, and severe learning disabilities. Her claim to fame ended up being too hard to work on so she noped out and gave the poor kid away.

Yeah, deliberately adopting disabled babies from overseas has become a ‘thing’ and it frequently ends badly.
There’s a dwarf couple who adopted a dwarf Chinese boy which I think is fine (since they understand his disability), and I think in general a physically disabled child will be better off in the US than languishing in an orphanage, but a tard? These white saviors don’t know what they’re getting into.

I believe the whole reason for overseas adoptions becoming a thing is that it's hard to get a seemingly healthy baby in the US because there are so many prospective families, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

The people who adopt children, disabled or not, their race or not, etc. and don't beat their chests and brag about it usually end up OK.

A lot of them also don't want some man who wasn't named on the birth certificate showing up in 5 or 10 years telling them, "This is my kid. I want her back."

That's partially true, people have been adopting from overseas for a long time, but you can definitely tell some people are doing it just to be trendy and impress others, not because they can't have children of their own and have little options. Ten-ish years ago it was cool to have a racially diverse family, so everyone adopted a kid outside of their own race. How many celebrities are perfectly capable of having kids/have bio kids but also randomly adopted a bunch of black kids because it looks good on fotos?
Nowadays the entire mommy blogger scene is one massive freakshow, and mothers are in a never ending competition for the title of most fucked up kid. The more repulsive a child, the more it suffers, the better you describe the seizures, poop explosions and tantrums you have to deal with and the harder you shove your Christianity down everyone's throats, the more asspats you get. Now imagine how much more attention you get if you deliberately adopt the most fucked up kid you can find, PLUS having to deal with severe attachment issues, language barriers, culture shock... Social media fucking loves it!

I wonder what the next adoption trend is going to be. Probably adopting supposed trans kids. Can't wait for all the TRANS AND ADOPTED?!? videos to pop up.

The wife of the dwarf couple is also a physician and they purposefully chose to live where there is a hospital that can deal with their children's needs, since they also adopted a girl with dwarfism from India.

Are you talking about Bill and Jen, "The Little Couple"? Except for being of short stature, they seem like a very normal, happy couple with a lot of love between them, and for their children.

They also live near a large children's hospital because Jen is not just a physician, but also a neonatologist. I actually remember when she was accepted to medical school, because there was some discussion among admitting committees as to whether a woman who was barely 3 feet tall could even do a physician's job in the first place. The same thing has happened with other doctors with extreme dwarfism, or are deaf, blind, quadriplegic, or have other disabilities.

In the midst of adopting these children, Jen got "pregnant" but the pregnancy turned out to be just a cancerous placenta. What a blow.

Outside of short stature, does regular dwarfism present too many issues? It seems like they live pretty normal lives otherwise.

Rarer conditions seem to be where shit gets ugly, like what Paisley has or the Hartleys.

Depending on the cause, dwarfism can come with a lot of medical issues. Scoliosis, hip and joint pain, enlarged organs, I think the heart and liver especially are vulnerable? Not all people with dwarfism suffer from medical conditions like that, but it’s very common.
