Re: Kids growing up sheltered and the possible side-effects of it, so a bit OT:

I was reminded of Larry Nassar’s court case a few years back. I listened to all the statements from his victims (over 150), and something that kept popping up was the girls mentioning how they were brought up with abstinence-only teaching, or with very little education on the subject.
Because of this, many of them didn’t even understand what had happened to them, or that it was wrong; they just knew something felt wrong. Being molested by a trusted doctor must feel horrible as is, but I can’t imagine the confusion (and often shame) those sheltered girls must’ve felt.

One of the saddest stories from the Nassar thing was that one girl told her parents what he had done to her, and her father told her she was lying. After Dr. Nassar was arrested, he committed suicide. 😢
I assume you mean the sad part is the girl who was abused and then accused of lying by her Dad?
If he chose to end himself because he felt like a piece of shit? Well. He was a piece of shit. And a spineless coward to boot.

Shall we check in with our favorite empathic mama and her precious tater tot?
Here's a good thing to do during a pandemic: take your medically sensitive child to a major tourist attraction, and while you're at it, don't wear masks. Look on the bright side: Luna's eyes are open, so it means that she's having a great time! Can't you see the pure joy on her face? Plus, her doomed little brother got a cute souvenir out of it, which Luna most definitely picked out all by herself! Hopefully he'll live long enough to enjoy playing with it. It's also nice to see Glenn making an appearance. It must have been difficult to fit him in the frame alongside Robyn's massive ego.

Oh wait, there's the mask. Being worn improperly. Luna's eyes are extra open here, and her mouth is gaping open even more than usual, so it's clear she's having an even greater time. Or maybe she's just freaked out by the jaguars, whom she can totally see. If she even knows what the fuck a jaguar is.

And hey! Here's Luna totally kicking butt in physical therapy! Perhaps her neck is getting a little stronger so that maybe someday she'll be able to sit up by herself. Or perhaps she's being supported by the therapist. At any rate, she almost blinked this time. And guys, can't you see her mouth moving out of sheer excitement at the toy she most likely can't see or hear? It's totally not spontaneous lip smacking that brain damaged people do all the time. Can't you feel the curiosity! God bless her!

Kicking butt!
Robyn says Luna's head circumference is down "1/2 cm" which is like nothing but it looks bigger to me, especially when it's next to Robyn's. The way Robyn exaggerates Luna's abilities is ridiculous. No, I do not think she is sitting by herself. She can't even hold up her own head.

I also noticed this from Luna’s mom:

Isn’t it just lovely that my child’s horribly deformed head looks like a heart?

She’s also in raptures that Luna has just about enough hair to scrape into pigtails, like that was a level of normality that had been eluding her.

Also, what's with the two big ass bows right on the biggest parts of her head?

The heart-shaped head makes it extra horrifying to me. Poor Luna looks like a combo of Helena Bonham Carter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland , and Betty Boop having a permanent existential crisis.

I just realized, the way the skull plates pull her eyebrows up at the corners is what gives her the perennial terrified/surprised look, which is the most heart-rending part of her appearance to me.
I would almost rather see her looking like a gray alien than have to experience the idea of her pain on top of a logical understanding of what caused her pain, if that makes sense.

Also the pigtails and bows remind me of Mama Gremlin Hartley insisting on feeding Lola by mouth, even though the poor homunculus could barely take food that way, because it let Mama Gremlin have that "perma-baby experience" she was "denied" when doctors installed a feeding tube in Claire.

IIRC, it's a dominant gene so 50% of her children would have it as well. Despite her differences, she believes that she has a decent QOL, and got pregnant knowing exactly what her kids were in for if they had the disorder themselves. People with this are NOT potatoes; they are otherwise mentally normal.

There was a TV newslady who had a genetic disorder where she had seriously deformed hands and feet, and had two children of her own who also had the disorder. As my roommate at the time said, "Why would someone abort a baby just because it doesn't have hands? It's going to have a life!"

I think only someone in a wealthy western country, in the last thirty years, would make such a statement about “not having hands” as if it was a minor detail in life. One family member with such condition could have a family rallying around and community supports to help make survival and life comfortable. Passing on that defect onto to multiple children which they will pass on as well produces generations entirely reliant on others and society to a great or lesser extent. It’s a very bad idea.

I don’t have that much long term faith in the current govt and social structures to think a permanently handicapped lineage is going to fair well in anything but the most wealthy and protective society. If you are born today in a country like India with such a defect street begging is your career.

For 99.99999999% of humanity’s existence families did their level best to ensure no traits that hindered survival were passed on. Families would “hide” members that had congenital issues or mental illness, not because they didn’t love the person, or even worried about the afflicted family member reproducing but because merely having a sibling or aunt with a heritable condition tainted the marriage chances for everyone in the family. In small towns people kept tabs on who had afflicted babies or family members “not right in the head” because this was the population pool from which your children would marry.

I just find it a bit naive to believe it’s fine to pass along genetic attributes that hinder survival because we believe humanity will always be improving, wealthy and stable. The advanced, extensive resources and medical equipment will always be there to keep them adequately supported and cared for even though this state of affairs has only been the case for the past fifty years (and only in western countries) out of the entirety of human existence.

I can see how people might believe that we will certainly have robot limbs and computers and science to fix every problem for future generation. So who cares if they have fucked up hands and feet. Some smart guy will ensure they are like the 6 million dollar man in 2100. Food and shelter will be like the Jetsons for everyone!

I’m sure the wealthy citizens of Rome in 100 BC felt much the same way about their state of affairs, the civilized empire will endure! Govt! Literacy! Bathing! are def here to stay. The entire population of Europe from 500 AD to 1550 had a very different experience.

That was Bree Walker. She had ectrodactyly and syndactyly which meant she was missing digits in her hands and feet and the digits she had were fused together. This is sometimes known as lobster claw syndrome. Walker's hands and feet were messed up, but she had a beautiful face and was absolutely stunning in her prime. She was well known in the 1980s for how she overcame her disability and went on to lead a normal life with many achievements. She became a news anchor, married and had two kids, who as was already mentioned in a previous post, both inherited her deformities. So it really seemed that despite her condition, she was able to live a great life. Unfortunately, things went downhill for her really badly after she left the spotlight. She was arrested about 6 years ago for DUI and she was unrecognizable. Due to a combination of years of substance abuse and some really bad cosmetic surgery, her once gorgous face became almost as freaky looking as her hands and feet. She'd become a full blown alcoholic and eventually went into rehab. That was 2014, and she's been fairly quiet since then, so I cant say if she recovered or if she's still fighting her demonds. Here's a video from when she was arrested that tells about her glory days and her dramatic fall. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rM6Duc6NvZ0&ab_channel=CBSNewYork

A lot of these tard baby parents tend to exaggerate or even downright lie about their taters' abilities. Remember how Jaxon Buell's parents swore that he was meeting all kinds of milestones like talking and walking? They'd plop him down cross legged with his head hanging down, then brag about how he was sitting up on his own. He was sitting up on his own the same way the stuffed animals I had as a kid were sitting up on their own when I used to carefully balance them so that they didn't fall over.
Mama Buell would tie him up in some contraption to make him "stand up" and he'd be screeching and his arms would be flailing with seizure activity, while she would coo about how he was trying to get the straps of the device undone. And then he'd have another seizure while they'd stick a toy rattle on his hand while they would shriek about how he loved playing with his rattle.

And who can forget Gwen Hartley and the adventures of her two sassy teenagers who loved dancing and rap music.

Interesting. Walker is like the WASP soap opera version of an ectrodactyly family and Grady Stiles (aka Lobster Boy) the more famous white trash carnie version.

Grady came from six generations with ectrodactyly and was disappointed when a couple of his children were born without it because it meant he couldn’t use them in the circus. Grady thought the affliction was an easy way to earn a living in the circus, but that only was true for two generations before the freak shows died out. Grady put his own kids with it in the show before they were weened. Of course, his own children had him murdered him for being an abusive alcoholic shitbag of the highest order.

It’s a really dominant genetic defect, it must have above 50/50 odds when looking at how commonly their children are afflicted. Bree had two children, by two different husbands, and both kids have it. Over half of Grady’s kids had it.

The severity of it is really varies. Bree looks to have no problem walking at all, while many people (like Grady) are confined to wheelchairs their entire lives because their lower limbs are unusable.

The human neck isn’t meant to hold up a head that big.
What are they supposedly doing to shrink her head size?

Miss Sociopath is doing the same thing. Claiming that Luna is hitting vague milestones, posting photos and videos from therapy sessions and saying she's "improving", somehow. And also claiming Luna definitely likes certain things, coincidentally everything she likes, too. All while ignoring that Luna's arm posture and eye position confirms what her massive, swollen head already shows: critical brain damage.

The human neck isn’t meant to hold up a head that big.
What are they supposedly doing to shrink her head size?
She has a shunt to drain fluid, but Luna's eye position indicates it's not working. I think most of the fluid is contained within cysts that have taken the place of proper brain matter, so good luck getting rid of them. And since they've replaced proper, healthy brain, getting rid of them won't help Luna suddenly see, walk, talk, and play.

At this point the real question is how much longer she'll live before joining Jaxon and the Hartley girls in the big potato patch in the sky. Ironically she makes up for their lack of heads.

Bree started out as an AOR DJ in the 1970s in San Diego, before radio was corporatized. She was prominenly used in TV ads for KPRI-FM with her gorgeous looks. Her messed up hands were pretty much unknown by the public until she headed into local news, when she became the local media darling for being a pretty crip on the TV. I recall reading that her mother’s family are no strangers to the deformity, and their feeling is “it’s no big deal to me, so why not shit out kids so they can have the same horrifying claws, too?”

I saw an interview with one of Grady Walker's relatives (who, BTW, denied that he was abusive; of course, only people who lived with him would know for sure - there's some evidence that the murder was catalyzed by money and drug addiction by the son who killed him). She did beautiful crochet work, by holding the hook under her arm and moving the yarn around it, instead of holding the piece still and moving the hook around with the yarn.

Bree Walker - that's her! She did need custom-made shoes or inserts in order to walk properly, and I just had no idea she'd fallen that far. I do remember that she had a really bad facelift at one time.

As for "beautiful crips", we had a deaf Miss America a while back (and they've had Miss Deaf America for quite a while too) and other Miss America candidates who had visible disabilities, including one who used to live in my apartment building who was born with a missing forearm.

Yeah her head looks bigger to me too. And that hairstyle just emphasizes it. Reminds me of the awful hairstyles Gwen would give the Hartley gremlins.

With a head that heavy wouldn't it be dangerous for Luna to sit up by herself? She could fall down and hurt her head. I really feel bad for this kid.

Luna looks like a minor hit to the head would cause it to explode. But beyond that, for real, I don't think she can really be damaged much more at this point. I don't know if anymore trauma would even really be noticeable at this point.
