🤝 Community Tard Baby General (includes brain dead kids) - Fundies and their genetic Fuckups; Parents of corpses in denial

A woman I know has a 27 year old with the capacity of like... less than a newborn I'm pretty sure. Full potato, completely nonverbal outside of random groaning, has never been and will never be ambulatory, doesn't recognize people or express himself in any way. His life expectancy was around 6 years when he was born and then he just kept going and going as medical care got better. Obviously the parents couldn't be like "this wasn't the deal actually" but you can tell that she (because she does 99% of the care when nurses aren't at the home) is fucking exhausted. Their two older kids got completely sidelined and have been ever since.

Anyway, the point is that the lunatics in this thread need to spend a day with her and then see if they're so adamant that their mIrAcLe bAbY needs to be kept alive at all costs. He has absolutely no quality of life and neither does she.

Can she put him in hospice or something? At some point, she’s not going to be able to do it anymore and he’ll be placed somewhere anyway. Why not now? Medical care doesn’t have to keep getting better for him.

A family caregiver's work in the home is invisible. If she says "look I'm a person too and I can't do this," everyone in the community, probably everyone in the family, says "you monster, go back to sacrificing your life in private where we can't see and don't make us think about it."

Bet if she had a heart attack or a car accident, her husband would be working about getting the potato permanent placement.

eta: the parents probably started with the best of intentions and that 6-year life expectancy in their minds. It's easy to give so much energy to someone who you know won't need it for long.

Other siblings tend to get sidelined one a tard or just disabled child shows up. Those siblings are also usually not equipped or inclined to take them in once their parents can't keep caring for them.

I personally know some Boomers who were shipped off to boarding schools so their mother could 100% focus on their disabled (cerebral palsy) sibling. Sibling ended up in care because she's still going quite healthy into her late 60s while their parents died more than a decade ago and were unable to continue caring for her well before that. I don't blame them for not wanting to make the sacrifices to take her in, her existence has already irreparably impacted their lives, no matter how much they might love her.

Revie;s mother bragging about the pain meds she gets via Revie. She also posted nude videos in the tub again.

You hit the nail exactly on the head, especially about her worthless husband.

There's also some kind of money issue with putting him in a home, but idk if that's because there's actually an issue or because keeping her at home to care for their kid also conveniently keeps her under his financial control since she hasn't been able to work a full-time job for almost thirty years. Which is another thing I'm sure none of the girls in this thread have considered - they're not all going to hit the jackpot as social media stars (and for the ones that do, their spud is going to stop being cute way faster than they realize, then it'll just be creepy pervs like that SBSK freak circling like jackals), which means hubby will probably be the only one actually working, which means they're entirely dependent on his income. Not a great place to be at the best of times.

Personally, I'm waiting for the person pissed off enough that their childhood and teenage years were sucked dry by their potato sibling they start their own social media crusade against the Cult of the Potato. They'd have a lot of siblings-of-potatos to join them and spill the deets about their own neglect and their crazy parents assigning personalities and character traits to something that wasn't ever there. I predict the first people on that bandwagon would make a shitton of money too, it's down and dirty and pure unadulterated drama. People would love to hear about how a 10 year old had to deal with being woken up at 2 am once a month cause their sibling was in crisis, how they had to watch their mom break down 3 times a day while dad did nothing and buried themselves in work, and how their prom was ruined because their mom insisted the potato go too and they puked on the siblings prom dress. There's huge untapped potential.

Does she think this is cute? Funny? It's just bizarre. She's just showcasing her immaturity.
I think she's trying to say "I have access to all these drugs but don't touch them so I'm doing ok" like that's a prize ...congrats you're not an addict siphoning your kids drugs?

We outlawed freak shows.

Not only that, she’s telling the world, “I have an expensive high-grade pharmacy stash in my house, am alone with a disabled child, but if you don’t want to rob me I will tell you when I go to the hospital next so you can merely burglarize me. Come and get ‘em”.

Idiocracy is prophecy.

I’d watch the shit out of that. Think of the drinking games!

Join any sibling support group and you’ll get these stories in spades. A lot of siblings are not trying to blow up their families in public because they still deeply care for their potato siblings, even if they struggle with all the childhood baggage.

The writer Anna Quindlen, at some point, published an op-ed about how she wasn't going to do any genetic screening during the pregnancy she was in at that time. Any ultrasounds, etc. would be if SHE had a problem, because she would have had the baby, no matter what. She got a LOT of negative feedback, most of it from siblings of people with disabilities, and not even necessarily those disabilities that could be detected before birth in the first place, or even those that happened after the child was born. Thankfully, she did have 3 healthy kids.

It was HER DECISION. And her husband's too, but mostly hers.

I knew a woman who died a couple years ago at the age of 97. In the late 1950s, she gave birth to premature identical twin girls; one baby died a few hours after birth, and the other lived to be about 60, with severe physical and mental disabilities. She and her husband cared for her at home until she was in middle age and her dad's health started to fail, and she was placed in a nursing home. One thing the daughter's obituary mentioned was that she always had season tickets at the symphony, because she loved classical music, meaning she was not a potato, if she could express this much. Mom's obituary said, about her decades of caregiving for her daughter and husband, "It wasn't a life I would have chosen, but I was still glad to do it." Chances are, if her twins had been born even 10 years later, they both would have lived normal lives.

I will admit that whenever I hear yet another story about a non-verbal autistic person who ran off and was found drowned in a pond, river, or swimming pool, that I wonder if the door and gates were accidentally/on purpose left open, so this would happen and nobody would get into trouble.

The sibling effect was most of the reason we made the decision that we did regarding our unborn child.
No matter what the 20-something year old nursing staff thought of us, we had 5 other children and we were not going to destroy their lives to keep a potato sibling alive...

Heard of one recently in the mountains where a 5 year old with a non-specified condition (other than "will not respond to name") mysteriously wandered off whole camping during bear fattening season. Very odd.

Or an older example my mom told me: lady with a very low functioning autistic son who's car somehow broke down with him inside on the train tracks, and only he died.

Thank god I live in a country where it's considered selfish and disrespectful to keep a tard baby alive, here the sentiment is to either abort or comfort care. Unfortunately the US is spreading this delusional view via social media so it's getting more traction here too, but it's still nothing like you guys have to deal with.
Because they believe it's murder. It's not about the circumstances; you must give birth or else Jesus/God will look down on you. Then once it is born and is a drain on resources, suddenly it's "suffer in silence" and "healthcare isn't free, YOU pay for your retard baby!"

I had genetic screening done for a gene that causes breast and ovarian cancer. If I were to have children, the male partner would also have to be tested or else the child would be born with Fanconi anemia. One of the side effects is congenital defects and developmental disability. Knowing this, there is at least the option for termination of a pregnancy or IVF/embryonic screening. In the US there is just no support.
Obviously the parents couldn't be like "this wasn't the deal actually" but you can tell that she (because she does 99% of the care when nurses aren't at the home) is fucking exhausted. Their two older kids got completely sidelined and have been ever since.
The book My Sisters Keeper dealt with this: a normal child exclusively bred to keep the other alive grew to resent it. There's a guy out there who was born with underdeveloped hands and feet and he looks like he has no limbs, but he's an excellent swimmer, got married, and had children. He's cognitively normal.

It doesn't surprise me a lot of potato people wander off to die in mysterious circumstances. You can only go so far.

Going back to the discussion of siblings, I highly recommend Karl Taro Greenfeld’s book Boy Alone. It’s a memoir about growing up with a severely autistic brother in the 60s and 70s. Extremely brutal, does not shy away from anything.

https://time.com/archive/6666338/my-brother/ This is a small piece he wrote about his experience a few years before his memoir was published.

Revie's mother "dropped" her a few days ago and she got all busted up. She began having increasing seizures and finally was taken to ER and admitted for CT. Revie's mother is whining about it and joking about being a "bad mom."

She is also complaining that Revie has Lennox Gastalt epilepsy and how why did the other hospital not figure it out. This diagnosis can take DECADES to be diagnosed.
