To those of you that are still watching this MLP dog shit, I just have to ask: Why?
Nowadays, I watch solely for the mare-episodes; I stopped caring about the stallion episodes a long time ago. Sure, there were a few genuinely funny stallion episodes like The Wedding of Soarin and Braeburn - but those are a once-in-a-blue exceptions. The stallion content is a contrived slog with endlessly angsty plots. The characters never learn anything, they fight the exact same adversaries, and the drama drags on forever. It's hard to enjoy it anymore. I do believe that only autistic shippers watch them to see more scenes of their couples together. In contrast, the mare episodes don't take themselves too seriously. They feel closer to the slice-of-life comedy you would see in SU. They go to the shop, go bowling, stuck in toilets, fart on each other. It is silly, absurd, and offers something genuinely fresh every time. I am not saying all mare episodes are masterpieces, there are some unbearable oneliners, like THE ABYSS or the entire orphanage segment in The Tournament of Power (and in Trixie & Trixiebelle), which ruined otherwise perfect episodes. But overall, the mare episodes are leagues above the tired teenage melodrama that the stallion episodes have devolved into.
As for why ponyfags still watch the show. From day 1 the fandom was famous for making gross/edgy/funny/dunk/racist/reactionary MLP content. I won't give a whole brony history lecture, just look up PONY.MOV, Smile HD, Cupcakes, Friendship is Magic Bitch, Friendship is Witchcraft and so on. That raw, unapologetic energy was what the /mlp/ thrived on. But as the years passed and people jumped off the ship, that kind of content dwindled. Many past creators deleted/disavowed their early work either because they were suddenly ashamed of it, or because they hit big in Hollywood and needed to clean off their portfolio (oddly enough, to some magical coincidence, 80% of these people also changed their gender - what the odds!). Then came all these stupid 14yo TikTok tourists and newfag activists, who retroactively stamped the fandom classic edgy era as "literally nazi content". The fandom was hijacked. The output shifted away from memorable rule-breaking art to a flood of saccharine, softcore slop, where creators used ponies as virtue-signal mouthpieces for their personal politics or social agendas. For a long time, MLP content completely lost its teeth and its backbone.
Then in 2024 Tamers arrived. He started producing videos where ponies were farting on each other, throwing around slurs, eating junk food, abusing each other, and acting like assholes. Yet despite this exterior, they remained oddly endearing. Why? Because underneath the crudeness, they were clearly the exact same ponies we knew from the show. They followed their classic archetypes perfectly, and, as silly as it sounds, the videos obeyed some high-level canon lore only turbo-autistic ponyfags knew about it. Tamers can dodge this bullet all he wants, but from the first episode - Bardonic Is Magic - it was blatantly obvious to any long-standing bronyfart that Tamers knows MLP inside and out. The first video was filled with fandom nods and in-universe jokes only a seasoned ponyfag would know about.
He filled a massive empty niche. Think about all those 35yo guys who were desperate to capture the 2010s era of internet humor. The guys who spent their teen ages watching edgy pony flash anims on Newgrounds, or spent years glimmerposting on /mlp/, and hosting Skype watch-parties for new episodes. For them, Tamers' content suddenly made it feel like it was 2012 all over again. He delivered the exact direction and gross-out humor they had been craving. And the cherry on top - he deeply understands what the old fandom genuinely loves. I could give off more examples, but it is already a blogposting. One may call Stockholm or sucking off Tamers' dick - but in reality, it is just a bunch of older ponyfags finally getting to relive the best times they had on the internet. When people could take anything in internet non-seriously and have a laugh on characters acting like douches, all in form in ponies they used/still love. That's really it. A combination of 2010 nostalgia for edgy jokes, ponies, and void in content.
