I kinda liked it, even if the movie was a bit autistic.

I think it has a terrible narrative; erratic, nonsense, stupid things. I mean, according to their own universe, the Suicide Squad is made up to fight metahumans like Superman. Yeah, you can have The Enchantress, Katana, El Diablo when he turns into Mr Skeltal, even Deadshot if you need the best marksman in the world... but why the hell would you recruit Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, Boomerang and Slipknot to fight metahumans? They didn't show anything special in the movie.

The mission should've been some kind of shady black ops thing, with mercenaries and some low-tier metahumans to make it more fun. But what happened in the movie was boring and felt out of place. It was basically a weird war against lots of generic mutants and a final boss. They never showed the questionable morals of the Squad, because they were killing 'things' that weren't humans anymore.

The Joker's storyline could've been handled better. I think it should've been more relevant, with the Joker and the mobsters researching about the military, then stealing the prototipes, hijacking the chopper and then fucking up the Squad's mission. But in the film the mission was already a mess, like the whole narrative, so there you have it. They were more preoccupied with the cameos rather than actually telling a story.

Killer Croc when he's basically underwater Hulk like he is in some of the comics could probably do some decent damage, the guy in this film was tiny though.

IHE even had the balls to put it in his "Search For The Worst" list (where he reviews movies which he considered to be huge failures) and he even stated that it's worse than The Last Airbender as he didn't find much good moments in Suicide Squad compared with Last Airbender.

The big problem with the DC Cinematic universe was here in spades: GRIMDARK EDGINESS.

It's perfectly fine, and even a good idea, to have some more serious and dark characters in a universe. The problem is that when you overdo it, it gets old.

Personally, I'm sick of it. I don't want a superman who broods about humanity not understanding and fearing him in every movie.

I don't need every batman movie having Bruce's parents get killed in a flashback and have him brooding alone about how he can't stop fighting.

I wanna see a Superman that realizes how much power he has and that he needs to be an example of how not to abuse it. I wanna see a batman who realizes he's on a slippery slope and trains a sidekick to help him remember his human side.

And for the love of god, I wanna see a Flash who jokes around and realizes half his villains are total jokes, but knows when to get serious.

And when they have potentially serious villains, that could make for long-term, serious enemies to keep things serious, they need to stop mishandling them terribly.

They turned Luthor, a super-genius who is both jealous and afraid of superman to the point that he tries to get rid of him "For the good of humanity" into that chucklefuck ginger-Luthor who kidnaps old ladies, makes senstors drink piss, and tries to intimidate superheroes with an egg timer...

They assume because some of the greats did it, like Alan Moore, or Heath Ledger's take on the Joker, that everyone has to, that it's necessary to try to outdo the previous examples, and that they're actually capable of outdoing Alan Moore, which they usually aren't even up to imitating well.

They should just take a break from this capeshit already and maybe try a good old rip roaring Adam West style Batman again.

Honestly, they need to sit everyone associated with their movies down and make them watch all of the older DC animated series. They're popular with kids and adults, and are still very watchable to this day:

  • Batman the Animated Series
  • Superman the Animated Series
  • Justice League Animated Movie
  • Justice League Animated Series
  • Justice League Unlimited Series
These are a great. They show how to make great, memorable villains, how to skirt the line between serious and funny, and how to do crossovers and interactions between wildly differing settings and characters.

I honestly think most of the people working on the new DC movies have never seen any of these.

They're rushing the hell out of it too. Wonder Woman comes out this summer, and Justice League Part one comes out later the same year.

Of course they're rushing it. Studio execs seem to think that if they wait too long, Marvel will "Take all the money" instead of realizing that if they take the time and make a really good product, people will find money to go see their movies.

They want to be Marvel so bad that they're sacrificing quality to try and rival them.

It's hilarious how much DC wants to be Marvel. They seem to forget something that makes Marvel movies great though.

Marvels movies all have humor in them for the most part, even Xmen has some fun moments. They're lighthearted too, which was what made Guardians of the Galaxy so good. They have some dark moments, like Tonys PTSD which is played seriously, but even then Iron Man is a fun likeable superhero.

Captain America showed that DC still could've made that dumb cheesy Superman too, but DC thought turning a guy who wears tights and a cape into a edgy dark "superhero" was a good idea.

Marvel took its time to build up to The Avengers and it paid off. DC is doing the exact opposite, I expect the Justice League movie to suck as bad as BvS since we know nothing at all about these superheros outside of comics and cartoons.

Don't get me started on Wonder Woman. That looks like it'll bomb, or underperform.

The icing on the turd cake is that they haven't even touched on the origin stories of Flash, Aquaman, or Cyborg at all aside from those super-brief, out-of-place clips in BvS.

Marvel had either had full-blown movies about their characters (Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk) or had them have a decent-enough prescence before that you could understand them easily (Window, Hawkeye, Fury) before The Avengers ever hit theaters.

DC isn't doing that. They're actually doing the opposite. They have TV series featuring some of these characters (Flash, Arrow, Supergirl), but these characters in the movies are nothing like the established characters on the shows.

It's a complete shit-show.

Even if it doesn't suck, it's placed during World War 2, so the Captain America companions are going to be brought up a lot.

Honestly, the one big thing Marvel figured out but DC hasn't isn't the use of humor. It's the simple fact Marvel's characters are likable and DC's aren't.

The JusticeVerse which began with Man of Steel has done nothing but present the "heroes" as a bunch of unlikable spergs who have no interest in mitigating collateral damage. Superman is an angsty whiner who doesn't even consider the damage he does when he throws down with Zod or Doomsday. Batfleck is violent sociopath who murders people who get in his way regardless if they're "good guys" or not.

The Nolanverse Batman movies are anything but humorous. Yeah you get the occasional quip from Bruce or Alfred but it's usually got a sour undertone to it, meant to underscore how these guys are damaged. Or you get dark humor from characters like the Joker. But the Batman in these movies is very obviously heroic. In the Dark Knight, Batman has to beat up the SWAT guys because he's got no choice if he wants to save the Joker's hostages. The cool, heroic music starts playing as this guy sacrifices what little legitimacy he has left to save innocent people. Batfleck would've just made a bee-line to the Joker, killing any cop who got in his way and ultimately charging in to break the clown's neck. No one wants to see that. If we want to see the Punisher we can just watch his upcoming show, because Marvel even fucking did that better than DC already.

Zack Snyder thinks we're all a bunch of pansy-assed faggots for wanting our superheroes to save people or act like decent human beings and people are sick of that.
