guys are you ready for some actual fucking fandom sanity?
basically a little kid makes SU fan videos and a member of the crewniverse watches them. for once, tumblr actually stuck up for the kid and his work which is a+.

I can't say anything bad a bout this - I can only hope that this kid goes his ass to school for this shit, however, so he can actually learn how to get somewhere worth being in this industry. That, and he doesn't review shit on YT that can be used to keep him from getting anywhere, knowing how employers are with privacy of others today (unfortunately).

I don't get it, isn't Amethyst an adult?

I don't think Tumblr actually reads reports. At all.
Keep in mind that places like that Molestia blog were taken down not because of any actual violations but because they got spammed with reports.
In other words, it's probably trolls or something dogpiling them.

It's kinda like with "shadowbanning" where they'll try to choke off a user's access to anything despite not breaking any rules, just because enough people threw a tantrum over it.

That's probably why there's still loli and shota up the wazoo on that site despite "not allowing it".

It seems like what happened was that somebody sent them an ask saying "don't put your nsfw content in the tag for a fucking kids show", they drew SU porn in response to that ask, and the person who asked it was so butthurt they reported it to Tumblr, who probably took it down without really looking much.

That's pretty shitty. But what happened with the kid was kind of cool. I just don't think showering him with all of this praise and attention is really good for him as an artist, though...

Probably just love-bombing him to see if they can suck him into their little cult.

It also literally had "APRIL FOOLS" written across the sky at one point, so you'd have to be pretty impressively dense to take the thing seriously. But I guess I'm not surprised tumblr SJW's hate stupid fun.

Fun is triggering, because they are reminded that not everybody in the world is having fun because they are OPPRESSED.

Amethyst is a 5,000 year old space alien. And she's seen Greg's junk. I'm pretty sure that qualifies as an adult.

Would you really fight them, nightwings-tights?

Would you really?

You know, I thought of the joke in that exact contact when I first saw the episode. Thought it was a funny but probbably not ment to be taken that way.

Then I saw the rest of the episode that almost seemed to say it could be taken that way.

I dunno, teaching the kid that criticism is automatically evil isn't doing him any favors, either. Cutting some slack if the artist is young, and props to the kid for attempting lip syncing - of course he shoudn't be bullied out of attempting drawing and animation - but it's still preettyyy bad, and you can't improve if you get the idea that your shit is perfect. And I'm pretty sure everyone here knows how easily wanting your sooper speshul unique original character donut steel to be actually in the source material/TV show can get dangerous very quickly. Maybe they just talk like that on tumblr all the time, but the bit about "SO IMPORTANT" "SAFE SPACE" is not encouraging.

Besides we all know once the kid grows up they'll switch over to crucifying him for being a cishet male anyways.

It just rubs me the wrong way in several different ways, but you summed up my argument. All of this smothering of him isn't something you do to a kid who wants to do actual art. Give him constructive criticism rather than drawing stuff for him or telling him he's great.

I bet that user would be frightened if they had to square off against me in a REAL 1V1 IRL FITE!
But seriously, what's the big deal about Lars?

Well we did have that fusion dance that Pearl felt she should prevent Steven from seeing while very visibly flustered so there's also that in terms of "was that an adult joke?"

I think the degree of criticism depends on the age for a kid. Everybody's gotta start somewhere, but if this kid is like, 11 or 12, the fact that he even spent the time on a fan animation probably cobbled together with MS Paint and Windows Movie Maker is pretty cool. I kind of love fanime; even if it's crap, it still comes from a place of love from kids who just really, really like a thing. Those comments telling him his work is shit just seem fucking rude.

Also I laughed when Blue went super Saiyan because of course he does.

Right - objectively, it is kinda shit, but 11-12 year olds are supposed to do and make shitty things that they'll be embarrassed about later, hah. Judging it by the same standards you'd use if an adult made it would be stupid - it just seems like tumblr's going too far in the opposite direction in a way that's not going to help the kid grow, either.

Well, yeah. I get what you mean.

I thought it was cool of the Ian to post it to Twitter, though.
