why don't these people watch adult swim, ya know, animation made for mature adults?

Fixed it for you.

I think that they long for a simpler time, back when adult references were included in kids cartoons because the creators assumed that the jokes would go over the kids heads, yet be funny to the adults who watched them with their kids.

You know, the days before the Internet.

As with most things I like, just enjoy the thing, ignore the other fans.

Especially in this case since I think that SU really is quite fantastic, and quality oft attracts intensive levels of shiftiness in the fans.

To be honest a year or two ago this thread probably would have been on the Adventure Time fandom. But since the popularity of that show is no longer unchallenged many jumped ship.

It's even weirder considering a lot of this is based in a belief of cartoons being a finite resource owned by a specific group that Tumblr thinks everyone else treats cartoons like too.

You know how Chris thinks everyone who trolls him is a dirty male homo sitting in a room talking in dank memes with sensory overload everywhere? Tumblr thinks everyone else is as overprotective of cartoons as they are. It is why they fight so hard, they think they're going to deal with people as obsessed as them.

Funny enough, SU isn't even devoid of... "questionable" things.
Like
Where Pearl feels the need to cover Steven's eyes rom (while blushing) and ends when Amethyst basically dives into Garnet's crotch.

Hell, fusion is often shown in a bit of a suggestive light.

Or when Amethyst and Steven are doing Cannonballs and Amethyst insists he should put "more ball" into it. Steven looks down and asks if it'll hurt.

And that's just two off the top of my head.

I recall there being a joke about Steven's Dad's penis in an episode.

I don't really watch cartoons anymore but wow some of these niggas are too emotionally invested in cartoon horses and cartoon trannies

The only person more obsessed with protecting cartoons than the Steven Universe fandom is Mr. Enter. And hell, I REALLY wouldn't put it past him to be a major Steven Universe fanboy either...

well he is a lolcow and the people who watch this show all seem to be lolcows
Good point. Not to mention, much of the Steven Universe fandom seems to also really like Mr. Enter as a critic, calling him one of the only "good" bronies... It's hilarious how much Enterbots and tumblrinas intertwine, and by that I mean it is fucking sad really.

ME! ME! ME! Look at me! I hate a childrens show!

The Tiny Toons fandom started this downward spiral.

It just keeps on getting worse.

Yeah. I'm surprised there wasn't a bigger outcry on Tumblr from that joke.

Ah yes, but it's one of the things I love about it, just like with Gravity Falls. They both got balls (though GF more in the nightmare fuel way like http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net...hapeshifter_twins.png/revision/20140806234740)

I mean we didn't seem to have much of a problem scaring the shit out of children then kicking them in the feels for good measure before so good to see the tradition's still alive.

This is the future we chose. We made our bed during the Clinton years and we're going to lay in it for a while now. It is a monster of our own creation.

I've never seen MrEnter talk about SU. But Tumblr seems to like him so I'd guess he has at least a somewhat positive view.
