I enjoy Gumball. Guilty pleasure. The most I've ever discussed about it on the Internet are the first two sentences of this post. Why would full grown adults even care? They are acting like children. Maybe when you like kids' stuff so much it becomes part of your identify you were never an adult in the first place. I appreciate the info OP, but this just makes me hard to be my usual super optimistic about the future of humanity self.

anyways, I think the reason people want to take their cartoons seriously is because they want their cartoons to look DEEP and MATURE and that it's not just for kids.
Imagine it like this but with Western cartoons

For some reason, this kinda reminds me of those people who want to mod skyrim to get rid of super natural elements like Daedra and just make it even more generic souless "fantasy".

What the fuck? Why? Yeah the deadra are totally not important. In a world of dragons, trolls and magic - supernatural beings are unrealistic.

I have an awesome idea! Get drid of the Daedra and give the player 1000000 gender and pronouns options instead and make every character fat.

I wouldn't go that far, but I'm pretty sure that if SJWs found out that a male cartoon creator drew porn of underage characters, he'd lose his show so fast his head would spin. Meanwhile people defend Sugar for it. Look, you just kind of expect animators and the like to draw porn of characters, but what she drew, even if it was years ago, was on another level.

IT didn't have to do with gender, it was more of them trying to make muh gritty realistic mature game for mature gamers.

You know I am perplexed, at this whole situation.

It's a Child's show, it's one thing to have sentiment and watch a run of old kid's TV shows you watched when growing up (hell I binged watched Tug's back in February, when I was sitting my friends son as he is into Thomas an likes watching the Boats on the river) but it's another to glom onto a kid's TV show when your in your 20's an take it to the lengths Bronies and the SU fan's do. I can understand liking the show because of the art or the story / message it's supposed to send but to take it to the level of sending death threats is beyond me.
Seriously if your doing that over a minor issue in a cartoon god help you if you ever have to work in a subjective field of employment and you should seek help at the first available opportunity.

I haven't paid attention to Yamino and her "CARTOONS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS" nonsense in the past few years. She did the same thing with Adventure Time over some shipteasing over Marceline/Princess Bubblegum, pretty much saying if you didn't see it was totally canon, you're a homophobe. I think she's been a major influence on Tumblr for holding that attitude and having such a virulent hatred of bronies.

Thing is, it used to be mostly Yamino doing that with some very vocal supporters. Now this shit is everywhere.

Speaking of, I have a feeling half the "fandom" will probably just abandon SU before long like with AT. I remember when that was all over my dashboard and now I think it's been... months since I've seen a single mention of it?
