Doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists who have all been part of making these laws in Europe have concluded that either 14-15 or 16 is mature enough to have consensual sexual relationships with adults.
They have deemed that most people between the age of 1-15 are children and that most people who are 16 are mature. It's the same reason as to why some 14-15-16 year olds can be tried as an adult in a court of law.
I don't know how many 16 year olds you have spoken to but they're pretty fucking mature man. Like this isn't a child. I'm not gonna tell you to sit around a high school and start talking to 16 year olds but like... if you ever had a younger sister or cousin and you spoke to her and her friends when they were 16 you would understand this issue much better.
Considering the website we're posting on it's safe to say a majority of us grew up posting on image boards and being social outcasts. When I was 16 I was playing World of Warcraft from the time I got home till I went to bed. But like... the 16 year old girls in my class were having sex. Just because we weren't matured at that age doesn't mean they aren't. Not to mention women go through puberty waaay before men.
I personally don't have the expertise to say when child matures and is ready to have sex. So I'm gonna refer to the experts. And judging by their years of expertise and work in this field I would say it is safe to trust them.
Oh I don't even know why I'm addressing this but... if say 1 country said it was okay for 15 year olds while every other country said it was 18 then yes there would be a reason to be suspicious of that country and how it reached that conclusion. But when a conglomeration of governments that rule over a billion people come to the same conclusion it's hard to make the argument that a cabal of pedo psychiatrists and psychologists are behind this.
