I see a lot of speculation about Destiny's behavior and why he would do such self-destructive things while obviously being heavily invested in his self-preservation.
I hate to be the eternal sign tapper, but the reason is because he was violently sodomized as a child against his will at knifepoint, and while he was getting raped from behind his rapist cut up his back with the knife. He doesn't think the way you or I do. A lot of it
is totally incoherent which is why the speculation usually ends up in unsatisfying conclusions.
A non-raped person is also made up of a commonwealth of desires and instincts that can
sometimes appear incoherent, but generally that commonwealth rolls up into something of an internal governing body that makes the decisions (the "self"). A lot of the things I said in my
@Cloudy2 post were obviously tongue-in-cheek, but I do believe that Destiny's sense of self was totally shattered by his rape and it never really recovered because he never confronted it.
This is why Destiny can simultaneously be:
- cunningly self-preserving AND wantonly self-destructive
- calculating AND compulsive
- liberal AND reactionary
- warmly caring AND coldly dismissive
- gay AND straight
So why would he taunt his own kiwifarms thread? Dox Rose himself despite not knowing her age? Do things that risk his reputation, his career? The things he values the most - even more than his protection from criminal liability.
We've joked a lot about his blackmail fetish but I've never seen anyone fully confront what the implication of this desire is:

Intermittent reinforcement - the brain becomes addicted to unpredictable rewards. Uncertain outcomes are more compelling than guaranteed ones. The uncertainty is what drives our return. Our obsession and fixation on Destiny acts like an addiction. If he had a coherent, comprehensible identity, then there wouldn't be two thousand fucking pages of speculation on why this freak is the way he is. We wouldn't keep coming back to watch him get raped over and over. Or maybe today he's the rapist! Who knows! Let's log in and find out.

As for me? I'm not angry anymore. I feel a deep satisfaction now. The "Destiny Arc" is closed. I used to think being raped was binary - you're either raped or not. But Destiny is double raped now. He could die, be arrested, lose or settle his court case (he will), find himself in a new legal raping (he will) - but it's all just an epilogue to the narrative written in this thread.
Destiny is right - Rose being underaged was the last thing. At least it was for me. Blav handed him one last chance at redemption and he declined it. There is no coda without that redemption. The story is over. He only has one escape hatch from himself left.
