Far Harbor in Fallout 4 was Bethesda's last gasp in competent storytelling and decent writing. And even that DLC's potential was held back by the game's voiced protagonist and endless radiant quests.
A good chunk of Far Harbor was done by the guy who was responsible for FO4's Memory Den, probably the best-written part of the game.

Hopefully those laid-offs can STOP UPDATING both Skyrim and FO4. It's annoying.
the moment you realize the updates are meant to break skse/f4se in order to push creations is the moment you'll shit bricks, because saarfield updates don't break sfse, only the DLC broke my install of it.
i'm fairly sure some people at bethesda and jeetsoft are fucking pissed that the skse autists are fast to update their tools and no they don't care about goycattle that play on consoles, they already play by their rules.

The last good Bethesda game being in 2012 is fucking crazy.
That applies to most of the Western gaming industry, and pretty much every other entertainment medium in general.

"The last good [insert media product here] being in [insert date 10+ years in the past] is fucking crazy."

The quality of, well, everything has been cratering. I can't recall the last time I bothered watching a new TV show, and I've gone from watching a dozen movies a year, to watching two new movies in a good year.

The same pattern repeats in games - devs that used to be able to make great games consistently now require a decade to shit out a new game, which is inferior to its predecessors in every metric, despite costing more to develop and having more people working on it by orders of magnitude.

I always like to point out that 60 to 70 people worked on Skyrim, it took 5 years to make (if we include pre-production) and had double or triple the amount of content Starfield got. Meanwhile over 500 core developers worked on Starfield, with even more subcontractor jeets, ballooning the total number to the quadruple digits.

It's why I have zero faith that TES VI will be anything but a disaster. The company that made Skyrim (which I still consider vastly inferior to Morrowind) is long gone, the company culture, the talent, the passion, it's not there anymore, and every signal we've been getting from Bethesda over the past 10 years is that they're a company in steep decline, incapable of successfully replicating the formula that made them famous.

There was a leak a while back that said a major part of TES VI will be having a ship and sailing to a bunch of different islands which to me says they plan on using the same procgen that made Starfield such a boring shitty game again.

Also Bethesda is heavily utilizing AI now and if you think AI can make a game watch 0.55 to 7:09 of this vid. That's what an LLM created game looks like.

Memory Den: exposition in a walking sim
Far Harbor: exposition in Minecraft VR

I like the setting of Far Harbor but the story and choices sometimes don't make sense (Dima wants the island to be for the synths and yet he doesn't want the Railroad of retards to know about it existence). Also Emil having a weird fixation on the Institute/synths being the good guys despite them wanting to replace every faction leader with a synth.

Shouldn't they be extinct if this takes place after Skyrim?

Skyrim's MC is literally called "the last dragonborn."

Giving the player that title was retarded, it was only to juxtapose you with the First Dragonborn, Miraak. Unless Bethesda forces the DB to do a dragon genocide run offscreen, something they'll never commit to because they're afraid to commit to anything, dragons are going to be a regular thing of the series going forward. If it even does go forward, anyway.

If TES VII comes out within 20 years from the date of this post I will get a rainbow-colored Skyrim emblem tattooed on my pelvis above my cock. That's how sure I am that TES is done after VI and Bethesda could very well shut down soon after.
