Okay, official old person who actually SAW "Star Wars" in theatres when there was NO such thing as a "franchise" and will never, never, never call it "Episode IV" ... I can't even explain how much this movie has affected my life, it brought me my partner, my friends, a world of people who actually understood me and the language I spoke, forged a new family for me, led me to a career, and then something happened ...

A few years ago, George Lucas did something I never thought would be possible. He made me hate Star Wars, and until I had some solid fanboy counseling from a friend of mine (which largely relied on heavy denial of anything released after "The Empire Strikes Back"), I have turned away from Star Wars fandom with a deeply broken heart.

Until this morning. I had two moments ... when I saw X-Wing fighters screaming along right out a scene from "Dam Busters" and when I saw the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy go spinning into the air and heard my favorite sound in the Empire when those TIE fighters came up. Then. With a feeling I cannot explain unless you have waited 38 years for something ... then ... I thought maybe the deep damage might have a chance to mend, at least just enough to let me want to go back to a galaxy far, far away ... and see how those old friends of mine have been getting along.

(And, okay, one more thing ... is it just me, or is it the height of irony that J.J. managed to hold back on the lens flares on a planet with TWO fucking suns?!)

It's a new Star Wars of all things and so far it actually looks good.

To be honest. I've gone through this.

The grandeur excitement of a brand new Star Wars movie coming out. I've been there, I've felt it just as the rest of the mainstream is today.

Then Episode I came out and while I liked it, every single goddamn person moaned and bitched about it.

So therefore, I expect the same response next year.

aw man i love that cute lil thing! something about it gave me that old starwars feel too..... like; even though we havent seen it before onscreen, it could pass as being from the same story as eps4-6 (unlike a lotta prequel imagery)
......thats one my biggest curiosities; what the creatures will be like in these new eps, & will they be working with the jim henson company etc

it's nice that the storm troopers are being played by people rather than CG like the clones troopers were.

i know im so late but srsly; friggin hilarious. i do wonder sometimes if im the only one out there who actually prefers the special edition. (i guess seeing the orig trilogy for my very time as a boy in theaters during the 90s effectively worked its voodoo on me)

After seeing that Lucas didn't do the script, I'm really interested in seeing how this goes. Thinking of this actually sparked back my interest in Star Wars. Hope it turns out good or at least, decent.
