That's true. Even though Lucas did reuse a lot of old motifs and ideas, he did try to give us an original story.

His original stories blew chunks, though.

At this point, even a reboot of the original would be better.

I've made a comment that probably going to get me hated on the red letter media page but you know what the more I look at the newest star wars the more I kind of realise that this whole thing is really banking on the original trilogy.

They even brought back Lawrence Kasdan (ESB/RotJ) as a scriptwriter, which can't be a bad move.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jizz-box
The jizz-box was a musical device. In 13 ABY, the protocol droid C-3PO, who was stranded on the planet of Nim Drovis, auditioned to perform at a cantina called the Wookiee's Codpiece. C-3PO performed by playing back songs stored in his memory core with his vocabulator. The assistant manager of the establishment told the droid that he sounded like a festering jizz-box and rejected him, saying the Codpiece already had a jizz-box to play.

Behind the scenes
The jizz-box was briefly mentioned in Planet of Twilight, a 1997 novel by Barbara Hambly. The musical form known as jizz was created for Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, released in 1977. The band featured in the film's cantina scene is performing jizz.[2]

To be honest. I've gone through this.

The grandeur excitement of a brand new Star Wars movie coming out. I've been there, I've felt it just as the rest of the mainstream is today.

Then Episode I came out and while I liked it, every single goddamn person moaned and bitched about it.

So therefore, I expect the same response next year.

I stand by my remarks here.

The people that are angry about Star Wars possibly having a black main character, are the same people who in the past, would have been mad that there is a black Green lantern, that Cyborg was added to the Teen Titan's, that Robotech had an interacial couple, that Deep Space Nine, had a black captain etc. There have always been minority characters in geeky fiction, and I'm sure almost every time someone got outraged.

As it is, they'll complain about him doing something that 'conforms to black stereotypes'. You cant make those people happy so why bother

Most people aren't Tumblr SJW's. "Why bother?" The movie will make a shitload of money either way so Abrams isn't risking anything. Funny enough, people who are upset about this, remind me of the reactionaries who thought Harry Potter is Satanic, or that video games are too violent, or too sexist. Like Bizaaro SJW's.

i meant why bother trying to make anyone happy

December 18th cannot come any sooner; the hype for this movie grows with every passing day! I bought tickets in advance as soon as they were made available.

Also, I didn't expect people to get mad over Finn being a black man.

Take the X Men (comics, cartoons, movies) for example, there are a handful of racists who don't like it because the mutant discrimination is a metaphor for racism, then there are SJW's who hate it because a lot of the characters are white, then there is the majority of people that enjoy it, and don't give a shit about fake controversy. Considering that a lot of the people who like Star Wars are also black, I'm sure a lot of people will be happy there is a black lead.
What the fuck are you babbling about? Fucking nobody in this thread is angry about Finn being black.

I get you, I deleted the post, I don't wanna embarrass myself further.
theres no point in deleting a post if people have already replied to it

and if you are going to delete stuff if people disagree with it maybe you should question if you should even post on internet forums then

But yeah, about Force Awakens, the original trilogy is held in such a high regard, that I don't know if hardcore fans will be satisfied even if it has none of the problems of the prequels. But as for me, I'm optimistic, I saw the first couple trailers, but I also want to avoid spoilers, so I'm trying not to watch the latest one.
