South Park + Its Political Sperging (?) Thread - Season 26 ongoing!

I mean I guess I'd give it a try if I was local to it. But they need devoted fans like you said to do a hajj to it nonstop. I just don't understand why otherwise financially fine rich people so often throw it all away on vanity projects. Delusions of grander I suppose.
You can't even do that as Trey and Matt are running Casa Bonita like it was freaking Dorsia from American Psycho; no walk inside, you fucking have to get a reservation and you have to fucking AUDITION to get a reservation via email request, and their telephone number is an automative message directing you to their website while telling you to apply online for a chance to eat there...

Hell I would not be shocked if there is a $500 minimum you have to order food wise if you managed to get deemed worthy of being allowed to eat there

The guy basically harassed dangerous animals for the entertainment of idiots. He was not a scientist. He was a talk show host whose own father had him wrestling alligators as a nine-year-old. If anyone was going to die being attacked by a wild water animal it was Steve Irwin. And the joke was that it was 'too soon' to joke about which was why you reacted that way. They weren't even making fun of Irwin directly. Him getting kicked out for "no costume" was a great and clever joke.
He was an animal conservationist and worked at a zoo. He actually educated people about the animals he fucked with. His wife and kids still do this and they all work at that zoo still.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does this mean that the only banned episodes of South Park are Super Best Friends, Cartoon Wars 1 and 2, 200, 201 and now Got a Nut?
It depends on your region and streaming services. Some countries have dozens of banned episodes. So far in the U.S. we just have the muslim episodes banned on cable and streaming (but still available on DVD and Bluray). And now the Charlie Kirk episode is pulled from cable (but not streaming, and will likely make the home releases). So six episodes from cable but five on streaming. And nothing on DVD or Bluray.

But one of the muslim episodes is only partially uncensored through a leaked release from a South Park Studios employee. Where the speeches at the end about violence are still present without the bleeping. On the DVD and Bluray those are bleeped over completely and still censored. So the only way to actually get all of the banned episodes is still piracy as 201 is heavily censored on the home releases.

Also one of the specials on Comedy Central and HBO had an animator sneak in an image of Mohammed on Stan's lunchbox. The Paramount version has the image swapped out for something not referencing islam. Matt and Trey were supposedly livid when that happened.
The debt also comes with $800 million in annual interest charges if not paid in full and it got leaked that the debt is currently sitting at $2.4 billion that they owe.
They shouldn't owe that much. They took out an $800 million loan a few years ago with 10% interest. No way it compounded up to $2.4 billion. It's probably above $1 billion though. And they will need another deal to pay it off fully.

...
I have difficulty believing it would be that hard to make the restaurant profitable. I think the IRS needs to go over Casa Bonitas finances.

I just don't think they'll even acknowledge what happened, Cartman being Charlie Kirk isn't some overarching storyline like Mr. Garrsion acting like Trump since the Cartman Kirk impersonation didn't really stick in the other episodes of the season.

Season 27 doesn't really have anything of an overarching story beyond just the shit with Trump and Satan (so like if something happened with Trump, it would be a much different story.)

Well, 9 out of 10 restaurants fail every year, but you're right, Casa Bonita needs auditing. It's probably a money laundering front at this point given they also sell Weed and possibly other drugs that are still illegal.

The movie however is tainted by them going full on left especially with the season 21 callback where Kyle turned into his mom and got Canada nuked yet 100% got Trump-Garrison blamed for it.
I hate the fact that they decided to reference the movie in the worst season of all time. It's indirectly tainted due to that reference.

It honestly defies comprehension how much of a fuck-up you have to be to blow through more than a billion dollars—and still end up in debt. Not while financing the next MCU, or launching a world-shaking product like the next iPhone , or as a Fortune 500 company, but as two regular guys whose only real hobbies are drugs and prostitutes.

A million dollars is life-changing money. That’s small fortune money, low-tier lottery win, big casino jackpot money. They got a thousand times that. Entire companies never see that kind of wealth. A billion isn’t just life-changing, it’s history-changing.

And somehow, they managed to burn it all. And all they got to show for it is a third-rate Mexican restaurant.

So when they call anyone else stupid, I just can’t take it seriously. Nobody they’ve mocked these past few years, maybe ever, has managed to fuck up on this scale.

ale.
Kamala Harris did even more, I think close to $1.5b thrown away and was in debt after it.

To be fair, Kamala didn’t waste her personal money; she spent her campaign’s funds. Most of that money came from donors, and they wouldn’t have minded if she had won. The presidency Is worth it. That’s a big difference. Kamala just wasted other people’s money and she is fine.

Moreover, Kamala was vying for the most powerful political position in the world—and arguably in human history—President of the United States of America. Meanwhile, Trey and Matt just bankrolled a third-rate Mexican restaurant, got high, and hired some hookers.

All in all, Matt and Trey are still far bigger screw-ups. It’s not even close.

so basically they're fucked and are planning on offing themselves right? they will never pay that off. its like taking a loan from the mafia, it ends with you broke and homeless and dead. they seem rather lenient with their IP too, you're not seeing South Park skins in every video game, they're not pimping out the characters as mascots for brands or doing paid ads. You know how much money they'd make off of doing a promo code for fucking fan duel?

Mirror says it was mostly divorce lawyers that ate up that money. plus you're forgetting there are tons of failed projects they did, that deep fake tv show they put up on youtube was supposed to be some amazing animated show that would have hollywood giving them a fuckload of money, even they admit it burned GOT levels of money for a show that barely anyone has seen on youtube.

the restaurant is just one of the many ventures they've had and from what i've read its appropriately priced if not a deal, its about $50 thats all fees and tips included, mind you Medieval times is $100.

the waitlist is only about 3 months now, which is still obnoxious but considering you're paying about half of what you should for a dinner and show its a great deal. If you go to a comedy club you're paying about $50 once you factor in the two drink minimum and thats just to see some fag while sipping on a bud light. So the price is extremely generous, i'm shocked they aren't losing more money.

like Mirror said they could easily be charging way more for such an experience.

How stupid are these idiots for putting billions into a defunct mexican place that wasn't profitable long ago and closed down.

This is Jim Cramer level of economic fail.
Sunk cost fallacy is a hell of a thing. You're a billionaire (regardless of debt that may or may not be there) and you buy a local restaurant you loved as a kid because it's failing because Covid and the food sucks so nobody wants to eat there. Well, spicing up the menu is costly but not impossible to manage, especially if your clout can get people in the restaurant. And then it turns out the restaurant is rotting from the inside out and is full of safety hazards and there's about 50 years of bird shit built up on the roof, all of which costs $40 million to fix. And then you decide to pay all staff $30/hour regardless of position but no tips, but it turns out and this just applies to their initial 2023 operations that when you only operate three days out of the week, the staff would rather go back to their original salaries with tipping and also you're not very good at communicating with staff. Gen X comedians make for horrible businessmen, it turns out. But I can excuse dumping millions of your own money into an unprofitable venture just because you really want to do it, as long as you're aware that it'll never turn a profit. I think it's good that people can do something they love even if it's not a financially sound idea, but only if they don't start whining about it as if they expected to ever see a return on investment.
no walk inside, you fucking have to get a reservation and you have to fucking AUDITION to get a reservation via email request
I agree that a reservation is insane for a restaurant like this (it looks like October first is the earliest day you can reserve wtf) but looking at the website it doesn't seem like you need to audition for a reservation. You just make one through the website. Using your email is for if you want notifications on reservations which is also insane but not as retarded as auditioning for a reservation

I thought about it some more and the seemingly retarded reservation policies at Casa Bonita actually make sense.

If it wasn't difficult and expensive to get a reservation the place would be swarmed with fat unwashed redditors and troons that make up nu South Park's fanbase shitting up the place with noise, BO, yelling about Pickle Rick, and not leaving tips.

I wouldn't want to deal with that shit either.

If they can't pay off the loan they forfeit the streaming and syndication rights for South Park to the private equity group. But these guys are so absurd that they would try to make DVD or Bluray exclusive seasons just to prevent them from being streamed. Like the whole 'specials' on Paramount but not HBO. To try to ruin the deal that they made.

Joe Rogan seems to be doing great with his austin comedy club, but its a business he knows and he was practically an adopted son of the woman running the Comedy Store, and like most of his friend group are former life long employees of comedy clubs so it makes sense he's thriving

when it opened i think they forced people to jump through more hoops, so mirror isn't completely wrong, but a reservation isn't that insane when you consider its a dinner and a show almost exactly like Medieval times, its not a chuck e cheese. if you've ever been to any "dinner and a show" type restaurants they mostly run on reservations and very few allow you to just buy at the door.

obviously it seems weird because people just assume its a trashy mexican resturant instead of dinner theater and thats really a failure of their marketing but nothing about this strikes me as weird because i'm from the type of artsy family that enjoys that stuff. If anything its actually a really great deal, other dinner theater places charge 2x as much and try to jew you for more money for "premium seats!" like at Tony and Tina's wedding or Hatfield and Mccoy's dinner fued or Pirate's Voyage Adventure.

Why is it so hard to just honor the deals they made instead of trying to wriggle out of them?

They got ultra rich and successful in their early 20s so now they're permanently stuck in the ungrateful spoiled shithead stage of arrested development.

The pink cat lady in Bojack Horseman was right, once you get rich and famous you stop growing as a person.
