I wouldn't be 100% surprised if the next episode has Cartman as Charile Kirk getting shot.

They have three options. Embrace the political rhetoric and double down and attack even harder and go on the offensive. Tone down the political angles and just isolate Trump and mock no one else and almost make an indirect apology. Or completely abandon the political storylines and just soft reboot the season in a way where fans will know that their intention is to move on from this controversy in an attempt to salvage their contract.

They have 1.5 billion reasons to back down and just make safe episodes. Especially with talks of Paramount purchasing Warner and HBO.

Maybe I'm a pearl-clutching bitch for saying this, but the joke about Steve Irwin in the Hell On Earth episode was perhaps the only time the show legitimately offended me; I can't think of a single thing he did to warrant it.

The guy basically harassed dangerous animals for the entertainment of idiots. He was not a scientist. He was a talk show host whose own father had him wrestling alligators as a nine-year-old. If anyone was going to die being attacked by a wild water animal it was Steve Irwin. And the joke was that it was 'too soon' to joke about which was why you reacted that way. They weren't even making fun of Irwin directly. Him getting kicked out for "no costume" was a great and clever joke.

If Trey and Matt really are in the liberal Hollywood elite now, then they would probably think nothing about making fun of Charlie Kirk, the so-called facist according to the shitlibs.

Making fun is one thing. But now you have people with South Park avatars on social media making death threats nonstop for the last few days unhinged at random people. They are probably as afraid of their hardcore fans as they are of muslim radicals. They cultivated a fandom of nutcases and are now dangerously getting into JK Rowling territory. Where their legacy is their politics and not their art.

Not to sound like a wuss or anything, but a episode tributed to Kirk would be the better route, against political violence and now assassinations. I don't think the LA air has polluted their core values, just that they are a bit libtards. But i don't know, might just be me, but something has changed and i don't think South Park should ignore it, and not making it hollow. This is a opportunity really, sad as it is.

The problem is that they have such bad TDS that any apology episode will be incredibly tone deaf and be worse then saying nothing. It will take more then the few days they have to process the gravity of what happened and what it means for them

Seeing as how the Charlie Kirk episode already got memory holed, they probably won't touch the issue at all. There's also nothing funny (for a Leftwinger anyways) to build off of. Casa Bonita is apparently a 1 billion dollar plus money pit plus Matt and Trey live extremely lavish and degenerate lifestyles and have very little if any cash on hand because they have frequent coke and high class hooker binges a la Charlie Sheene.

They are likely close to $1 billion in debt. They took out an $800 million loan at 10% interest. They did it because they were on the verge of signing a 10 year contract for $3 billion. The contract fell through and they could only get five years at $1.5 billion. Causing them to miss at least one payment on their loan but possibly even more. They also have to settle the lawsuit against Warner and HBO which might cost them more. And factor in Casa Bonita's renovations.

Trey and Matt are classic Hollywood examples of living renewal paycheck to renewal paycheck, hence why they didn't fuck off after 200/201. They took out a huge loan after they bought Casa Bonita and found out they had to rebuild it from scratch plus Trey needing high priced divorce lawyers when his marriage collapsed, from the Carlyle Group that included putting their stake of the streaming rights to South Park up for collateral; meaning if they can't pay it off, Carlyle gets the streaming rights share meaning the two will NEVER see a dime from the show streaming ever again.

The debt also comes with $800 million in annual interest charges if not paid in full and it got leaked that the debt is currently sitting at $2.4 billion that they owe.

There's a quick way to get out of the Charlie Kirk thing:
- Cartman starts wearing a hoodie/parka and finds a way to get Kenny to start working with him
- He talks Kenny into going to events with a recording that plays talking points (or with Cartman speaking through the microphone from his house or somewhere else) either as a way to book double events at the same time or he can start getting paranoid and use Kenny as an unknowing body double
- Cartman starts saying more outrageous things and talking shit because he's not really there. Kenny gets shot. Everyone's pissed at Cartman. Cartman pretends he had nothing to do with it and tries to move on saying he doesn't want to do politics any more.

Of course that's probably something old Matt and Trey might have done. Now it'd be best for them to just ignore it and put the other Cartman Kirk episodes on the Mohammad list while they figure out what the fuck to do with the rest of the season.
