this thread is long, but I think this is obscure enough that nobody has mentioned it yet:

Times Square (1980 film)

My boomer half brother bought the soundtrack for a Roxy Music song but the whole soundtrack is good: Patti Smith, Pretenders, Lou Reed. Suzi Quatro, the Cure, Joe Jackson, Ramones, high quality music of the era.

The movie itself a little too soap opera for me, but the young Tim Curry is always great to see. It was called a punk-rock soap opera at the time. (protagonists are teenage girls)

All Along the Watchtower (demo v2) - Bear McCreary
I wish the guy who has the entire score would release the second half of the 4th season already...

This track when you know the story of the level it comes form...it HURTS. It's one of the most effective uses of music in a video game I've ever experienced, drove home (hyuk hyuk) the feeling of trying to claw out of an impossible and senseless situation just to, well, get home.

No need to thank me, kid. It's on the house. You would have done the same for me, right?

Themes from Treasure Island (1990), written and performed by The Chieftains.

They revisit "Setting Sail" on their Gallician album.

I finished transcribing Parting from Lufia and the Fortress of Doom. The original is painfully out of tune, tbh. I'm not sure why they chose to do that for so many tracks in this game.

Also MuseScore doesn't like when the same note is played on two different clefs around the same time, even when they're in different octaves. It's most obvious in the final notes.

Two pieces that the Japanese duo S.E.N.S. wrote for Japanese TV dramas.

"Pale Blue Story ~ 5 Years Later", for the TV drama Kagayaku Toki No Naka De ("Amidst the Brilliant Season"), about a bunch of medical students.

"Like a Wind", for the TV drama Asunaro Hakusho ("Asunaro White Paper"), another coming-of-age story of college students.
