Isn't it funny that a lot of what these people call "bonkers", "revolutionary", or "subversive" is really just paint-by-numbers, homogenized drivel dreamed up by suits and focus groups?

Isn't it funny that a lot of what these people call "bonkers", "revolutionary", or "subversive" is really just paint-by-numbers, homogenized drivel dreamed up by suits and focus groups?

It is really funny that he specifically has to mention that he DOESN'T mean anything he disagrees with since otherwise what he's saying is a pretty common "alt-right" (read: sane normal person) sentiment.
There was no "creative vision" behind Sonic the Movie. It was literally made to make sure the movie rights weren't lost. The faceless jews behind the design aren't upset that their design wasn't well received (especially since it ended up creating intense positive buzz around the movie when it was changed "for the fans"). There is a legitimate argument to be made here that the screaming masses shouldn't be able to change things they don't like, but I have a feeling that this guy wouldn't agree with most of the examples I'd present.
For the record, I think the movie would have been way funnier and more memorable if the design had stayed awful. I guess it's a nice win for the masochists who still call themselves Sonic fans and who endlessly praise anything remotely decent that he's in, but it's a loss for those of us who wanted a funny trainwreck and not a generic kids' movie.

On the other hand, if people wanted a good Sonic movie, there's already one of those (and it's still the best piece of Sonic media there is), and plenty of movies about wisecracking CG sidekicks.

He would have a point about how creators should be able to make controversial risks despite audience backlash if just for the artistic vision. I say would because he was stupid enough to give this take over fucking Sonic, a character that already has a set design, rules, built in audience and serves nothing more than as an ad for the established franchise. Plus you know that shitty design was also forced on the creators by suits, so the dumbass isn't even defending said creators true vision.

Sega has this weird thing about the OVA. Ian Flynn was explicitly not allowed to give Knuckles his hat in the mainline comics, but he was allowed to give it to Boom Knuckles as a quick gag so who knows.
I think the weirdest thing for me is seeing Battleship on that list

Different canon. Knuckles can still be the last of his kind if Chaos fucked them up while Knuckles was away from the clan (maybe on a Mushroom Planet looking for Chaos Emeralds...)
