Damn. Hell of a way to go out, though.

It's like if Bad Robot's last act was to fix Star Wars by undoing the entire Sequel Trilogy before closing its doors for good.
It really wasn't. A former employee pretty much says their work conditions were shit- a sentiment shared across anyone who worked for MPC or their sister studios.

The VFX industry is hell incarnate and ranks up there with the Anime industry as one of the shittiest there is in the field of animation, if not shittier because they got to work on blockbusters for Hollywood, not some dumb moe or Isekai with minimal animation.

Fuck. You're not kidding:

Poor bastards got booted out for doing too much work. Lion Kong, Sonic, and more at the same time. I guess the journos and Twitterati were right about the overworked animators, not that it diminishes the result. I hope they find work quick.

Oh no doubt, this isn't like Sausage Party. Technicolor's got their constituency plans in play. It's just a matter of whether or not their employees will bite given the horror stories that seems to come from their walls, like how MPC Vancouver had to bail out most of its sister companies. (Hell, they weren't supposed to be on that upcoming Cats movie, but wound up working on that because their sister company Mill Film couldn't get it done). Or how they're trying to farm it all to India.

That's pretty much standard these days. It's not like the 90s anymore where ILM was the go-to studio, you got dozens of companies lining up to do visual effects and each one is easily replaceable because if you can't do it under X months on a budget of Y, another company will happily take the job instead. It's a very unsustainable industry.

God could you imagine how horrible the original design would have looked like? This current one looks adorable which could only mean the original was some hellish abomination.

Ask, and the internet shall receive:

The recent japanese trailer that just came out revealed what a young sonic looks like. (in the movie).
Classicfags on suicidewatch because not muh.
The rocks breaking and a GHZ sunflower?
Man, they've been bizarrely tasteful with their reference pulls. I mean, yeah, Green Hill Zone is there front and center, but the other stuff hasn't been full-on in your face 'member berries.
...in the trailers at the least.

Surprised there isn't much talk about this here.

Looks like Twitter is trying to turn Baby Yeed VS Baby Zonk into an ongoing thing:

The little feller's cute, but something bugs me about his tum-tum:

It's got this weird ridge or bump, like he's trying to suck in his belly and flex. I feels like it should've just been a smooth round shape, like an egg.

^Probably. He voiced the cameo in the JP dub of Wreck It Ralph too and he's been the definitive voice of Sonic for over 20 years now.

Amazing clip released (yes, I just felt like an excuse to post this after remembering it existed recently, so sue me, etc) :

I’m probably still gonna go see it, if nothing else than to support them actually listening to people and fixing the original mistake.
