Film's officially released now (tomorrow for places like the UK). Will be interesting to see where the score levels out when all the reviews are in.
 
Without spoiling any plot details, I thought the movie was good, but a bit messy. Felt like the movie was zipping along at a hundred miles an hour with how many scenes and locations it had to go through, and it wouldn't surprise me if there's even an extended edition. The bits of fan-service for SA2 fans are there, but not in their original context of the game's story, so they feel like a tease more than anything. However, the stupid human sections were turned down to almost zero, which was a huge improvement over the second one. Overall this was a pretty good cap to the end of a trilogy, and I'm still looking forward to what's next in Sonic 4.
 
Loved every second of the movie— as a huge SA2 fan I could easily pick it apart but I’m just gonna enjoy it for how it was

Man my theater was full of the ugliest Sonic fans in existence though. And troons.

Kinda bummed how gross super Sonic fans are. They were brony/pegasister tier

Guess Sonic's going to little planet next, I would have preferred 06 due to nostalgia, but Sonic CD is probably the safer choice. Just hope that if they do commit to doing Little Planet that they have one Metal Sonic survive to become The Metal Sonic, it would be like having a terminator movie with only mook terminators otherwise.

As for Sonic 3, going to see it tonight (on the 20th) with a few pals, honestly the reviews and reactions everywhere make me hopeful that this will be good, especially with the statement of there being less humans compared to the first two. That alone honestly tells me that the Sonic movie team actively listens to feedback for each film, which is pretty commendable.

it was in some of his most recent tweets calling it better than sonic 3 and saying shadow is more creatively bankrupt than a prequel to a live action remake

Anyone else wish the game Knuckles took a little more from movie Knuckles?

I say this as a life long Sonic fan from the 90s— I feel like game Knuckles just doesn’t stand out like he used to. He doesn’t really have much of a personality.

Movie just is the perfect Knuckles to me— the personality is spot on, he has the right amount of stupidity and he’s a legit badass.

I don’t feel the same with the other characters but Knuckles definitely makes me want more from the game.
Game Knuckles lore with movie personality would just be *chef’s kiss*

Just came back from seeing it and I thought it was pretty great. My only complaints are that I feel they milked Jim Carrey ALOT this time around since this it seems like this will be his last one, which is fair enough but honestly it felt like for a few scenes they just left the camera running and let him do his thing. I'm also kinda on the fence about Keanu's Shadow, he's definitely got the dark parts about him but he could be a little dry sometimes IMHO. Besides that, I'm happy they really delivered with the SA2 references and music. Well worth a watch if you're a Sonic fan.
 
Saw the movie and it is amazing, can't wait to see what they do for Sonic 4.

They really made Shadow fucking cool again.

Frontiers was a step in the right direction for the character, but yeah Idris's take is perfect.
 
Sonic 3 was so bad and upset me so much I think I’m going to start reading the Bible and devote myself to God or something. I think God is the only one who can heal my pain from this.

I remember praying a while back for God to help me let go of my obsessions, the shows and media that occupy my mind. I feel like I am so attached to those it has kept me from trying to form a relationship with God. I sometimes think that if I was given the choice between God or fictional characters I like to devote my life to I would choose a fictional character and that scares me. So I prayed to God to help me let go of these things so I can learn to love him.
Shadow has been one of my favorite characters for years now. So maybe this hurt is God’s way of helping me fall away from my obsession.

This disappointment has hurt me in my soul. The changes to Shadow’s backstory has me wanting to go all ‘Sonic’s arms are not blue over it.’ I have been crying to hours. I think I will always be sad when I look a Shadow now because of this movie.

I genuinely think I might have autism, I’ve wondered for a while but this reaction I’ve had to this movie has really made me think I do because I don’t think this is normal.
