Sonic Movie Thread - From a Disastrous Teaser/Trailer to Not That Bad a Movie; Got a Sequel
Guess Sonic's going to little planet next, I would have preferred 06 due to nostalgia, but Sonic CD is probably the safer choice. Just hope that if they do commit to doing Little Planet that they have one Metal Sonic survive to become The Metal Sonic, it would be like having a terminator movie with only mook terminators otherwise.

This is kind of the opposite of how it happened in the UK Sonic the Comic. There was originally one Metal Sonic, then more and more popped up until it became the Brotherhood of Metallix. They were the ones who mechanized the Miracle Planet.
HAH. I knew it'd be CD for Sonic 4 if they got Shadow in first! The question is, is Little Planet part of Sonic's original world he came from or even, well, the home dimension itself? I've been spoiler-free up to now but this finally did me in to see....

I want to go with people that are familiar with the original games but have never seen the first 2 movies. Wondering if that's a bad idea or good idea.

It's kinda funny, but you can skip it no problem so long as you know that Knuckles has a new move called "The Flames of Disaster" that he won from Iblis. Yes, that Iblis.
I got back from seeing it. Short and sweet, Sonic 3 is probably the best video game movie right now. Right, so...scattershot.
-It's a little long in the middle, but God it ends strong.
-It's really cool that they took SA2 and made it about Sonic and Robotnik. It felt like the end of an arc.
-They toned down the movie sonic-isms in this. Its still there, but Sonic acts more inline with game Sonic.
-Longclaw reminds the biggest boon of these movies in getting Sonic to have a connection with his rivals.
-They didn't do Tom's Grandad shootin' Maria, but Tom still ended up getting damn near killed by Shadow, so hey. Still works and it might of been too dark for the rating anyway.
-HOLY SHIT THE NO FOOD OR MOVIES LINE 10/10.
-They did Shadow justice. Shadow was the star of the show.
-The CGI models are the best they've been. Best Sonic to date.
-Maria's death was altered, but I feel that was due to a ratings thing. Her death was treated with hella weight. I was more worried she was gonna live, really.
-I really dig they went to the Chao Garden after the first encounter. Felt...meta.
-I still feel that the agent chick could of been Rouge, given enough time, but this movie was working pretty tight compared to Sonic 2 with what it got so, it's fine.
-The sister is back but she's done better in this. The movie is a better Sonic 2. Holy shit.
-HOLY SHIT BIOLIZARD 10/10 movie.
-Jim Carrey was on damn point this one. He wasn't as manic as Sonic 2, but ended up being a better Eggman in this one. Godspeed Jim. Thanks for a great Eggman (and Gerald).
-HOLY SHIT LIVE AND LEARN 100/10
-Slightly bummed they didn't fully blare it during the final bit, but by God they built it up for the mightiest of high-fives, so I forgive it.
-HOLY SHIT METAL SONIC 10/10

As for Sonic 3, going to see it tonight (on the 20th) with a few pals, honestly the reviews and reactions everywhere make me hopeful that this will be good, especially with the statement of there being less humans compared to the first two. That alone honestly tells me that the Sonic movie team actively listens to feedback for each film, which is pretty commendable.
@Turtles McDougal in your opinion would shadows story and pacing be a good hook for someone who's never seen movies one and two but played the original sonic Genesis games?
