Sonic Movie Thread - From a Disastrous Teaser/Trailer to Not That Bad a Movie; Got a Sequel

I actually really like the idea of having him try to be relevant after the redesign and hell maybe he should have been one of the main characters, but that would be in service of a movie that has peter pan as the villain as a bitter hasbeen after he grew older and they stopped using him in movies, with gadget fucking the fly and having many fly/mouse kids, and any humor coming from any of this is replaced with ready player one SEE THING YOU REMEMBER???? BUT CARTOON ACT LIKE REAL DEPRESSED PERSON XDDDDD

Yep. The scene by itself would've fun to see as a youtube clip or as part of some comedy sketch show, but it being a part of this trainwreck of a film just really does nothing for it.

It's not that it's a reupload that's the problem, it's that they used a loop hole (from my knowing) to get Sonic in the movie so retarded Sonic fans would watch it which is just scummy and weird but that's Disney for you.

So I would like to start out that I like Sonic's booth with it's backwards text and weird Sonic drawings although it does seems that some of them (like the robot one') have their heads taken straight out of the original 2019 trailer but I might be wrong and it just looks incredibly similar.

His redesign looks alright, I'm mixed on the jacket but I feel like it would have been worse if he didn't have it and I'm personally fine with the glasses because of the Riders games and Anti-Sonic, he's a bit chubby which could be seen as a generic joke the likes of fat Thor but I think it fits because if its current state of being a washed-up actor(?)

I like the comment on ironic culture with the dudes only wanting a autograph of Sonic because of his Infamous notoriety but one could say and I would agree that Sonic did this to himself by trying to "own the joke" by rebranding himself as Ugly Sonic.

Sonic being a cop is only funny to me because of his past outings with law enforcement even within the Movie Sonic canon, also I want to see a shitty take on it on Twatter like how there were ones when the first movie came out with the movie "making light of police brutality" because of literally one thorw away line by the cop character saying "time to abuse my power" when the context was that they were going to go on top of building.

Anyways last note fuck Disney for reminding me of the crappy remakes of their old classics, I mean it's kind a cleaver but still.

First off I have no idea why Chip's ear here is fucked up and off putting, though I don't really care but Sonic seems to with him starting the scene laughing and I think it's a good point to bring up that I'm mixed on the voice actor, I don't feel strongly towards the voice either way is what I'm saying, it's just there and does the job.

Anyways Sonic starts the scene with giving us the now memed face close up shot of his face which I'm debating if they wanted and expected it to be a meme or it just so happened to become one.

I like that we see more stupid photos along with some kind of blue fruit or candy, might be blueberries but seemed to be too blue to be them, they kind a reminded me of the Sonic branded Curry for some reason as well.

The "I go slow baby" baby was funny, not laugh out loud funny but still a good bit and while I'm at it, I like how Sonic goes all Papa Jons at the end.

Anyways I think that cat thing is main villain of Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers but for some reason he has the body and right arm of the washed up/bootleg Peter Pan for some reason.

I guess they are trying to do a blurring of realities thing with the final villain but it looks to be pretty shittily executed and is no where's near as well done as who framed Rodger rabbit.

But anyways my opinion on Sonic is that he looks a lot worse in his cop uniform then in his stoner look, just not my thing and on that topic I already brought it up but still, the teeth jokes are past their prime at this point, miss it when the first trailer came out, it was a fun time.

And to end this off, I find it funny how the off world version of Sonic likes low-budget flights which is obviously unintentional but I still find funny and interesting.

Makes me really wondering why they even added him into the flim especially when it wasn't a Paramount move, like yeah I get the whole publicity angle but even still want sparked the decision in the first place.

Must have been just a shitpost because of the release of the second film.

This all kind of reminds me of Conan's shitty Sonic Movie sketch but here it's a lot more entertaining at least.

And to end the post, I really thought for a minute that it was a Paramount thing because Ben Schwartz at the Game Awards where he brought up Sonic's legs and teeth which was obviously a lot more of a joke then anything else brought up here but still it gave credence to my theory.

But the first red flag was the changed voice actor which I chalked down to Paramount wanting Old Movie Sonic and his better new design to be two separate characters which makes sense.

Now it seems that I was wrong and Paramount justifiably hated Old Movie Sonic so much that they didn't even copyright his design which means that Disney could hypothetically copyright this version of the character because shit like that happens all the time with altered versions of public domain characters. (Like Frankenstein's monster with bolts being copyrighted when the original is in the public domain)

I could see them doing that so they could make the Movie Sonic cop show brought up which would end up being similar to how Ken "owns" Anti-Sonic.

That's enough terrorizing about this stupid shit and my final note that I hope this whole thing let's us see the original version of the Sonic Movie mainly because I've always wondered about the Tails post end credit scene.

It's not even worth getting angry over, because much like "ugly sonic" this trash fire will be here today gone tommorow when people stop caring about it and move on to the next thing. I know its poor form to quote a lolcow but in the words of doug walker:

from the timestamp up untill the 17:38 mark, you could literally replace the lorax with chip and dale 2022 and it would fit perfectly. HE may be a cow by our standards but he does have a few poignant moments like this now and again.

Also since they are planning to make a whole Sonic Film Universe, I can only assume that Shadow will be the first to get a spinoff movie/netflix series. In fact I'm starting to think that maybe the 3rd movie will kind of act as a springboard for whatever projects they have cooking up.

They are going to make Sonic Movie shorts or something, don't know if this was announced at some point before but here is a sneak peek of them, for some reason Tails and Knuckles' voice were replaced here.

I get why Ben Schwartz came back because he does a lot of cartoon stuff, Idris Elba not returning back is interesting because of the Knuckle series but at the same time he is like a real movie actor from my knowing and I guess Colleen O'Shaughnessey might be busying with the games or something.

But either way I'm personally fine with them making some small little and might check them out when they all are released but that's mainly because I liked Sonic Unleashed's shorts.

Another thing I would to bring up is how Lee Majdoub the actor who played Agnet Stone did a interview with some news publication called ComingSoon.net where he talks about his role in the second film and the fandom.

I bring this up because the whole fandom thing because people have really been taking a liking to Agent Stone in the movie with it being a current trend to make a interpretations of him in other Sonic media and Lee Majdoub seems to like these fan made creations.

It's just a little jarring how this throwaway side character has gained a following around him and it's because of the success of the second movie which probably wouldn't have even happened if the first one didn't listen to the criticism around it.

But who knows, Ugly Sonic has gained a bit of a following himself now but even still, I think we wouldn't get here if he was kept in the first film because of the stigma it would gain and be attached to and how the fandom wouldn't be as willing to let it in especially because of all the other shit the Sonic community has dealt with.

And on that topic, I really do wonder if Lumpy Touch will make another video about "Ugly Sonic" because the last one was two years ago and he hasn't made any announcement on making another one.

The character kind of got retired after the redesign came out but it's important to his channel as much as the whole Gorefield thing is so it would be nice to see at least one more video with the original character in an horrifying version of the Rescue Rangers Sonic cameo.
