Sonic Movie Thread - From a Disastrous Teaser/Trailer to Not That Bad a Movie; Got a Sequel

I mean they seem good enough friends from what I saw in the first movie, backing each other up with like the only real moment of actual physical aggression from robotnik being the time he woke up after he got fucking verbally owned at his own game and then knocked out by the cop he assumed was just a local hillbilly. Carrey-ass screaming about how much he loves the way Stone makes coffee, asking Stone to pin himself to the wall sohe can do his aggressive monologue, the small things like that kinda frame good reasons why he wouldn't just make Stone into a robot slave. He's not quite Jack Nicoloson's Joker's level of evil where he was already a seasoned criminal with a wacky sense of humor to the point he'll off his number one guy over some shit going wrong in his plans, at least not yet.

The thing with the third film is that there's only really one way they can go with a credit tease, I feel like Amy and Metal Sonic would for sure should up in the sequel so the only thing I can think of them trying to do as a tease if they want to keep going from there would be Sliver.

But the problem with him is that his reveal could be super similar to Tails' and there isn't a sizable fan base for him like with Shadow to stirrup hype.

When it comes to sequels it makes me very nervous because after a certain point movie sequels start becoming really shitty, I really liked the Sonic Movie 2 significantly more than the first one and I really do love Shadow's story in SA2 but I'm still nervous with the prospects of a third movie and anymore afterward./SPOILER]

Also there's the fact Robotnik made the Wilson-esque Stone carving head of Stone to keep him company while stranded on the mushroom world at the end of the first movie, forgot to mention that one lmao.

It wasn't just any Sanic, it was the og Sanic, which made it little bit more interesting.

SteelPlatedHeart kinda predicted it in a way, the reference was from the first one.

But I still loved the movie!

Yes, obviously! Fucking obviously! The setup is literally in the credits of the latest film!

I personally believe they need to make Silver and Blaze a different dimension's version of Sonic and Knuckles respectively where Eggman Nega actually succeeds in ruling the world which can explain why Silver is a more tryhard hero version of Sonic to contrast with Sonic being more laid back. This would basically mix the 06 and Rush canon with Blaze and drop the "I'm from the future" shit with Silver as I think parallel dimensions are easier to work with while keeping all of Silver's general character traits and the ideas that 06 tries to present without being mucked up by the other random shit in 06.

Marketing wise I think this might be enough to generate hype as you can use the combination of Silver and Blaze's fans.

As lazy as Eggman Nega is in the games, a more traditional evil straight man version of Eggman Nega with say a more out there Eggman like in the movies could be a nice mixture for comedy purposes while still making a viable threat, although with Jim Carrey supposedly wanting to retire that could be a problem to execute depending on who they get to replace him. You could even make this a two parter if you really tried if they really want to stretch out this whole cinematic universe thing, or even make a spin off movie based around Silver and Blaze to more properly introduce these characters instead of shotgunning them out there.

The New York Post review hated the film, said it needed to focus more on the human characters, called Tails and Knuckles annoying, and said the Master Emerald was a “ripoff of LOTR’s One Ring of Power”.
