The best debates are either dueling speeches or a plain old argument. Two people, either they alternate talking (person 1 speech person 2 rebuttal, person 2 speech person 1 rebuttal, debate over) and that's the only rule, or there are no rules. No moderator. Anything else ends up being fake and gay rules lawyering

People having opposing or different views and putting them out there and having a good fight then being able to be civil in the next thread is what I like about this place. It used to be more like that IRL - you could have a good heated argument in the pub then be all ‘anyway, who’s coming to the gig next Friday?’ And just not hold a grudge
