The idea of ‘debating people’ is probably something that still happens, somewhere in some sheltered space far from the eyes of the common chattel (you and me), but the simple fact is the actual thing that happens here on a daily basis is nothing insomuch like hatefucking digitally than ‘debate’.

I mean let’s look what a debate actually is

A debate is a structured, formal discussion on a specific topic (or "motion") where opposing sides present arguments to prove their viewpoint. Unlike an informal argument, a debate follows established rules, requires logical reasoning, and uses evidence to persuade an audience or an adjudicator rather than getting personal.

Therefore, this clearly not being a debating forum but simply a forum for typing the worst insults we can at each other while secretly enjoying it, I propose we start brainstorming a proper renaming of this subforum to be True and Honest Kiwis.

Its called vibe debating. It's much more fun and less gay because putting effort into arguing with people you don't know is retarded.
 
@Blewberry Nausea structured debates are usually a dogshit format anyway, and I have seen what ridiculous antics people get away with in true and honest professionally organized debates, so I really don't see the absence of them here as a loss or defect. Maybe that means the subforum name is non-indicative, but again, for the better.
That is to say that formal debate mostly rewards shit like performance and audience manipulation, and getting to the truth is a secondary objective at best. Messy informal discussions can be much better because people can stop, clarify, define terms, and abandon dead branches without pretending the format itself is sacred

Now, of course, the more important issue is not whether Mass Debates is a debate forum, but whether people can and will produce anything worth reading
If you are genuinely unhappy with the quality of discussion, the options are pretty simple. Start better threads, filter harder, ignore the trash, lead by example, or become a refugee in Deep Thoughts.
But publicly complaining that everyone is being a nigger just paints a big target on your back for everyone who enjoys making that problem worse, or causing it in the first place
 
While there is indeed a formal definition for a debate, that doesn't mean anything short of that is no longer a debate.

For instance, there are a lot of rules and regulations for a boxing match, but that doesn't make what happens at Waffle House any less of a fist fight.

You can't guess from the video, but they were actually "debating" the War Powers Act while sputtering about nigger babies being attacked by racism.

That was 12 years ago, and apparently this style of "debate" had already been happening for a decade previous. Formal forensic debate as an intellectual practice is stone cold dead. You aren't going to find it in a gossip forum. And if you find it anywhere in the wild, you'll readily conclude the retarded arguing we do here somehow manages to be superior.
